    Denon Prime (SC5000s + X1800 and a Prime Go) owner here. Big fan of the Prime 4 and 4+. Pro-tip: Use Serato stems for now. You still get soundswitch and it's a good way to demonstrate to die hard Serato users that you can have the best of both worlds (with or without laptop) with that Prime 4+. Have fun with that setup!

    I have the prime 4 and prime go, and mc 6000 and mc 7000. I sold my pioneer controller for the prime 4. The sound quality will be noticeable. I still bring my laptop with virtualdj for back up, never needed it. I also use my laptop and virtual when I do karaoke and VDJ events. I love the versatility of the Denon I will be trading in my prime 4 next year for the prime 4+. I have used the zone out feature for cocktail hour which was in another room and it worked perfectly. Sent the signal wirelessly using my Shure QLXD wireless mic system. The sound switch integration is great i love it while using my wireless dmx to my both ir4 wireless and battery powered lights is the best! Good luck!

    I just bought the prime two for the exact same reason and I think it will be more than enough. Praying for was a little out of my price range for what I need it for.

      Is that Prime 2 or the Prime Live 2? The original Prime 2s are hard to come by now since I believe they've stopped making them.
      I used a Prime 2 for a couple of years and it served me well. Real good unit. I still have it but I bought a Prime 4 a year ago since I decided I wanted more than 2 channels and that's become my main mobile deck now.

    Welcome to Denon DJ Daryl. I have been using the Denon Prime 4 since 2021. I made the jump from Traktor DJ. I was also tired of buying new Macbook Pros every so often. You will not be disappointed

    Love the way you build your videos! I do have one question. Can I still use sound switch screen controls even if I am running it with Virtual DJ?

    I didn't like the original Prime 4 because despite the cool features it also had that flashy christmas tree like design. This updated version has more calm and professional looks. I definitely would like to try it. Thank you.

    • @DJDarylBennett

      Like on a laptop? Engine DJ doesn't work on computers like VDJ or Serato. It's only for stand-alone denon devices

    Still waiting for stems that they promoted. Thought it was going to be added to 3.3 that just came out yesterday but nope. Gotta wait for 3.4 now! I downloaded the beta, it was ok but had to reset to 3.2 original so I can use it for live gigs.

    Only thing that worries me, is effects being at the top back end of the unit. Does this make using the effects awkward? The layout just seems too hard to get used to and I don’t want to make a mistake and buy something that’s not good for me. Wish I knew someone who I could try theirs .

    Seems like a lot to pack into one unit. Kudos if it works all the time. I still rock VDJ with a macbook pro and a denon MC6000MK1. Does everything I need.

      It definitely wears many hats! Using it in the field will be the real test of reliability!

    • @steveoneil7028
      @steveoneil7028 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't tried the new Prime 4+ but I've been using a Prime 4 pretty solidly at regular gigs for over a year and used a Prime 2 for a couple of years before that. About as solid and reliable as anything I've used in my decades of DJing. I actually haven't had any issues at all with them.
      Previously the only Denon gear I'd ever used was the old DN2000 dual tray players that were common in clubs back in the late 90s and they certainly had a good reputation for being pretty solid units.

  • @mightyquinn5135
    @mightyquinn5135 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've had a few entry level controllers but they don't compare to the Denon Prime 4. Mine isnt the 4 plus.. Not sure how you intend to use it but, I run it with a laptop. I know some ppl think it stupid to get a stand alone and still use a laptop but I play videos and the standalone won't output video which i think is a design flaw and im surprised he new version didnt fix it.. But even if it did i still probably use it with the laptop since Virtual DJ gives you more power. Also, as I see it should the laptop fail I can switch to standalone. I run the controller into a audio mixer and also run my phone into it so if I needed to make the switch I could use the phone since you have to reboot. Anyway it's a great looking controller and is very powerful

    • @DJDarylBennett
      @DJDarylBennett  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not stupid at all! It's a really good controller, and virtual DJ is really good DJ software. Yeah, having an mp4 out would be awesome! I've all but abandoned video DJing, so standalone suites my needs well

    • @steveoneil7028
      @steveoneil7028 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think there are certainly benefits to using a laptop with a DJ setup but it doesn't suit me so I'm happy running purely in standalone mode.
      It would be pretty boring if everyone DJed the same way and all used their gear the same way.

  • @steveoneil7028
    @steveoneil7028 ปีที่แล้ว

    The lack of stems isn't a big deal for me since I've never used any gear that has stems. When it becomes available I'll enjoy it just like I've enjoyed all the other features that Denon have added in software updates since I started using their products.
    Until now stems have only been available in laptop controller software and I'm really not a fan of laptop/controller setups. Having stems support at all on a standalone controller still puts it way ahead of any other standalone controller even aside from the numerous other features that competing units (like Pioneer Opus or XDJ units) simply don't have.
