The mod is updated on CurseForge, I am so sorry to the 6 of you who downloaded v1.0.2, the snail deletes your inventory because of a bug in that one, but I immediately put a v1.0.3 that fixes that. Other fixes include but aren't limited to: - Immortal Snail is now immortal (lol) It used to die by several things that I hadn't thought of like dripstone and iron golems and now it doesn't - Immortal Snail teleports to the world spawn when it falls in the void (I have to teleport it somewhere and I can't teleport it to the player because then it would kill the player, so this is the best I got - Immortal Snail follows you for 10,000 blocks - Immortal Snail loads the chunk he is in and unloads the ones he leaves and can see between loaded and unloaded chunks and still path through them. - Immortal Snail kills you without breaking your armor now (King Snail still breaks your armor, this is intended game design) - Reinforced Snail Helmet has increased durability - Reinforced Snail Helmet has a new ability! When you sneak, it makes you immobile, unable to hit things, and makes you invincible. (So it's immortality at the cost of mobility and actions. It's a little OP but I'm aware most of you guys who play with mods play with multiple mods and this could be a good addition to a multi-mod world) - Re-balanced snail villager trades a little Notes: - Immortal Snail has ways to teleport out of traps that I didn't mention in my video talking about it because it was supposed to be a surprise for those of you who played it, but a lot of comments basically said "you can just trap it, this is dumb." I haven't played the mod yet but I think you should remove the snail helmet's ability and add it onto the reinforced snail helmet. That way there's a larger incentive to fight the king snail.

Genuinely seems like a really well-thought mod. Like. You didn't make things arbitrary or overpowered lol. I LOVE that you can choose to ride the snails... you just know someone's gonna have a playthrough where like, they're so used to riding them, one day they just get killed out of nowhere.
This mod should include a way to make yourself immortal, but doing so summons the immortal snail in order to fully create the experience. Or maybe instead of a way to do this in game, “immortal snail mode” is a game mode like peaceful or hardcore

Adding normal snails in addition to the Immortal Snail is absolutely diabolical because it means you could be taken off guard thinking the Immortal Snail is just a regular snail until it’s too late. I think that was another funny thing about the idea of the Immortal Snail as well because how would you ever know the difference between the Immortal Snail and just a regular snail you randomly come across? I’m just glad you made the Immortal Snail look slightly different from the others.

I think the immortal snail should have a custom death message when it touches you but this was cool looking forward what else you make, one more thing can the mount snail climb walls
Why would you even wear armor during the snail fight? It won’t help… I think if you made the snail guards not one-shot you, but do enough damage to one shot you without armor, it might incentivize using snail armor
I think there should actually be a proper reward for defeating king snail rather than just a reskinned netherite helmet, at least make it a bit stronger, it doesnt have to be completely overpowered
Honestly, with all of the extra bits, this effectively feels like an early minecraft mod. People added fun things and crafting recipes for the hell of it back then and I’m so here for it

maybe a modpack idea would have the progression result in reaching a method to kill the immortal snail, harnessing the immortality for yourself to which you've completed the pack. And to balance it maybe have it move a bit faster if its farther away so you can't just try to make a base 100k blocks away or something

This won't be seem or appreciated but.. I clicked on this ideo expecting a more modern video, where the entire premise was playing the game but the snail is chasing you. Amused by the normal snail mob, but them amazed by the fact drops were included. And then it just expanded and expanded Literally took me back to 2012 and made me feel like a kid again, binging mod showcases. It even almost reignited my desire to have a pc, just to download mods. So thanks for the nostalgia
Very interesting mod, I love how you took the meme and didn’t just add the immortal snail but all the armour and foods. Even a new villager profession too. I can tell a lot of work went into this man, keep it up!
This is great work, especially for your first mod! I have a suggestion to make the tameable snails more worthwhile: they could be able to stick to and climb up vertical walls so they can be somewhat useful for traversing large vertical areas. It's probably not super simple to do but I think it'd be cool!
It would be cool if the Reinforced Snail Helmet gave you some kind of resistance to the snail instant-kills. Maybe reduces the damage to kill you in two hits instead of one. Also, it'd be cool if the immortal snail could slowly break blocks and climb walls, to make it properly impossible to escape forever.

maybe the king snail ooze could be applied with a snail shell, the helmet, and the ooze in a smithing table? that way it doesnt clear enchants off the helmet

If the King Snail kills you no matter what, then surely it's better to just not wear any armour and fight him. Seeing as you are going to die in one hit regardless.
About the snail farmer, you craft 1 full set of snail armour with 24 shells, if you want to but’s full set from the villager, it’ll cost over 2 stacks of emeralds, but the farmer is also selling 1 shell for 1 emerald, meaning you only actually need 24 emeralds
A few suggestions I would make 1: Have a % chance for it to break blocks if it can't get to a player. This is important to keep the fear factor for it 2: Make it able to teleport so that, if the player actually somehow traps it in a dimension or in a block area without it able to move closer, it can get closer. This way you can't just simply trap it and the threat will always be there 3: I'd make it so that, no matter how far away you are, it'll always be within your maximum chunk range. This is to prevent it's AI from not functioning when you get outside of the chunk spawn radius
I think this is a really cool mod and I think I am probably gonna play it sometime in the future but aren't there already mods with an immortal snail? Tough they don't go into this too deep by just adding the snail. Still great mod! Keep up the great work.
Yeah, there are others but I didn’t like their mechanics. You should go on curseforge and try a couple of them on there if you want a good little laugh. My mod is by no means perfect as I’m finding new problems with it still, so I’m not judging too hard, but some of them have really funny bugs
cool mod, but now it’s time to take it to mach 20, the snail? an unstoppable force, no door will save you. not only that, but he lurks out of view, waiting around. corners, dropping from above, etc. give the snail a chance to despawn while in an unloaded chunk so it can spawn somewhere else

The other things are really only available if you kill regular snails. You could use it and just not kill the snails? I know just telling you to not interact with the parts you don't want to interact with isn't really a solution, but I don't have another version rn
if the snail could chunk load around itself similar to the wither storm mod, and had the ability to mine blocks in its pathfinding if it can't find a valid air path, that would definitely add to the intimidation of a mob that could potentially instantly end a hardcore world
I am making it so it loads chunks in the next update and I don't want it to break blocks because snails irl can't really break blocks and it's assumed in the original concept that the immortal snail is based on an irl snail and probably wouldn't easily be able to break 1m cubes of anything

And it doesn’t say that it’s impossible to trap or contain it, it’s just that you can’t touch it. If you find a way to trap it without touching it, that’s fair game
I've only seen 3 immortal snail mods including this one, and i think this is the best one, not only because i just generally prefer your snail model over other people's models, but also the fact that this mod adds more than just a single snail, it adds new items and a boss fight, that's pretty cool, this mod is now on my list of mods that i may or may not play with
One issue with the snail armor for the boss snail... Why would you wear armor in the first place? I mean, I guess you could put thorns on snail armor and cheese the fight but otherwise he's just gonna one shot you why would you wear armor
At first I was thinking about the differences from the reddit post, but to make it a playable mod these tweaks make a lot of sense and in the context of Minecraft it adds to the concept. Really well done for your first mod
To make the immortal snail even more dangerous make him a chunk loader so the chunk it is in and the immediate surrounding chunks are always loaded so the snail can't be unloaded. Prevent it from beginning able to be trapped by blocks by phasing/flying through blocks if it can't pathfind to the player. Make sure it can navigate to portals to track them to the other dimensions.
Since the original scenario has you immortal and only die if you touch the snail, if you arent already in hardcore, the snail should be able to kill you permanently
You should implement it so that the snail advances/teleports towords you a set amount of blocks, when you sleep, depending on how long you slept. Would make the snail sooo much more dangerous. Awesome mod and mod-showcase btw!

This is incredibly well thought out for a mod based on an internet meme, I love it! The only thing I can think to add is playing John lenon’s war is over in the distance when the snail starts getting close

1.21 players oneshotting the king snail by falling from 1000 blocks
Gonna have to recode it so it only takes damage from the mace as if you fell just 1 block.

Honestly, with all of the extra bits, this effectively feels like an early minecraft mod. People added fun things and crafting recipes for the hell of it back then and I’m so here for it
its a nice mod, but making a snail beatable kind of defeats the point of the hypothetical. It was supposed to be more of a looming threat.
Yeah, I was thinking about like the longevity and how you’d probably get really tired of it since it’d become more of like an annoying gimmick if you aren’t playing hardcore after a while. So I figured let’s do a boss fight to get rid of the gimmick if you won’t want it anymore

I think the boss helmet should have unlimited durablility since its made from immortal snail. I dont think thats makes it too op, but just a bit more unique
Maybe let the player when riding the snail be able to go up walls or something? Because snails are able to fo that, i think it would be cool
here’s an Escargot recipe
* 1: Get edible snails and put in pan
* 2: add a teaspoon of salt and a teaspoon of cooking oil

* 24: add a handful of garlic leaves
* 25: toss with both hands
* 26: pour into bowl and enjoy!

maybe a modpack idea would have the progression result in reaching a method to kill the immortal snail, harnessing the immortality for yourself to which you've completed the pack. And to balance it maybe have it move a bit faster if its farther away so you can't just try to make a base 100k blocks away or something

Amused by the normal snail mob, but them amazed by the fact drops were included. And then it just expanded and expanded
Literally took me back to 2012 and made me feel like a kid again, binging mod showcases.
It even almost reignited my desire to have a pc, just to download mods.

That is correct. I am still looking for a solution to keep it loaded without lagging the game with a complicated procedure too much.
Might need to find a way to do what hypixel does just estimating how long itll take and just reloading it into the area at a specific time

@@alaincraftjava You don't need to load the chunks the snail is in. You can probably use math to calculate when the snail would catch up.
This is great work, especially for your first mod! I have a suggestion to make the tameable snails more worthwhile: they could be able to stick to and climb up vertical walls so they can be somewhat useful for traversing large vertical areas. It's probably not super simple to do but I think it'd be cool!

It would be cool if the Reinforced Snail Helmet gave you some kind of resistance to the snail instant-kills. Maybe reduces the damage to kill you in two hits instead of one. Also, it'd be cool if the immortal snail could slowly break blocks and climb walls, to make it properly impossible to escape forever.

If the King Snail kills you no matter what, then surely it's better to just not wear any armour and fight him. Seeing as you are going to die in one hit regardless.

About the snail farmer, you craft 1 full set of snail armour with 24 shells, if you want to but’s full set from the villager, it’ll cost over 2 stacks of emeralds, but the farmer is also selling 1 shell for 1 emerald, meaning you only actually need 24 emeralds
Such a cool mod, hope you work on it to make him truly unstoppable because rn it seems kinda easy to trap
A few suggestions I would make
1: Have a % chance for it to break blocks if it can't get to a player. This is important to keep the fear factor for it
2: Make it able to teleport so that, if the player actually somehow traps it in a dimension or in a block area without it able to move closer, it can get closer. This way you can't just simply trap it and the threat will always be there
3: I'd make it so that, no matter how far away you are, it'll always be within your maximum chunk range. This is to prevent it's AI from not functioning when you get outside of the chunk spawn radius
I think this is a really cool mod and I think I am probably gonna play it sometime in the future but aren't there already mods with an immortal snail? Tough they don't go into this too deep by just adding the snail. Still great mod! Keep up the great work.
Yeah, there are others but I didn’t like their mechanics. You should go on curseforge and try a couple of them on there if you want a good little laugh. My mod is by no means perfect as I’m finding new problems with it still, so I’m not judging too hard, but some of them have really funny bugs
cool mod, but now it’s time to take it to mach 20, the snail? an unstoppable force, no door will save you. not only that, but he lurks out of view, waiting around. corners, dropping from above, etc. give the snail a chance to despawn while in an unloaded chunk so it can spawn somewhere else
Awesome mod! I'm thinking about using it. Is there a version of the mod where I can play with the only addition to the game being the Immortal Snail? I'd like to use the Immortal Snail, but not any of the armour, potions, or other snails.
The other things are really only available if you kill regular snails. You could use it and just not kill the snails? I know just telling you to not interact with the parts you don't want to interact with isn't really a solution, but I don't have another version rn

if the snail could chunk load around itself similar to the wither storm mod, and had the ability to mine blocks in its pathfinding if it can't find a valid air path, that would definitely add to the intimidation of a mob that could potentially instantly end a hardcore world
I am making it so it loads chunks in the next update and I don't want it to break blocks because snails irl can't really break blocks and it's assumed in the original concept that the immortal snail is based on an irl snail and probably wouldn't easily be able to break 1m cubes of anything

And it doesn’t say that it’s impossible to trap or contain it, it’s just that you can’t touch it. If you find a way to trap it without touching it, that’s fair game

I've only seen 3 immortal snail mods including this one, and i think this is the best one, not only because i just generally prefer your snail model over other people's models, but also the fact that this mod adds more than just a single snail, it adds new items and a boss fight, that's pretty cool, this mod is now on my list of mods that i may or may not play with
One issue with the snail armor for the boss snail... Why would you wear armor in the first place? I mean, I guess you could put thorns on snail armor and cheese the fight but otherwise he's just gonna one shot you why would you wear armor
For the reinforced snail helmet, you should have it where it can tank 2 or 3 hits from the immortal snail when equppied.

To make the immortal snail even more dangerous make him a chunk loader so the chunk it is in and the immediate surrounding chunks are always loaded so the snail can't be unloaded.
Prevent it from beginning able to be trapped by blocks by phasing/flying through blocks if it can't pathfind to the player. Make sure it can navigate to portals to track them to the other dimensions.
Since the original scenario has you immortal and only die if you touch the snail, if you arent already in hardcore, the snail should be able to kill you permanently
You should implement it so that the snail advances/teleports towords you a set amount of blocks, when you sleep, depending on how long you slept. Would make the snail sooo much more dangerous. Awesome mod and mod-showcase btw!
