These tracks are nearly as much work as the rest of the rig. I really do hope it works out. I think it will with all the design time I have put in. I know there may be issues but hopefully no show stoppers.

@@CenterLineDesigns As long as it stops the stroke really close to top dead center and the friction brake works well. I watch a lot of videos about workplace accidents.
The way it operates it isn’t at risk of falling. There is no form of potential or kinetic energy when it’s off. A key would have to shear to allow a shaft to rotate. That just isn’t going to happen when its not operating.

Only issue I foresee is possibly the guide bars that you have to make so tall hitting tips as they go around the ends of the system/tires. You could always go with a more square shoulder tire that still has flotation kinda like a lawn mower rear tire. Then the side bars could be a little shorter.

That would be really annoying to hear those wheel guides hitting each other. Thanks for the heads up! I totally agree with a squared off tire. If these don’t work then I’ll use them to build some off road ATV trailers or something and get something else for the cat. Tires are easy to change out. Cheers man. So a complete grouser weighs just over 4 lbs. There will be approx 120 per track. So each will weigh approx 500lbs. Even that is still heavy but I think it’s manageable. Thanks!!
What would be interesting is the cost of this hobby? Man hours, material, power consumption for the manufacturing of all the parts. Oh wait a minute, we don't want the wife to know she isn't getting that new what ever. This has been a great build along with all the other random videos thrown in for entertainment, THANKS!!
I have a ball park figure of cost of materials. My budget for it was $20k CAD. Like most budgets they are meant to be broken haha. I was trying to track man house at the beginning but it got so difficult. But over all I’ll be able to estimate the hours. Typically work on it on average 8 hrs a week ish. I have a very understanding wife lol. She thinks it cool too but more just wants to ride in it. Thank you! I appreciate you taking to time to give feedback. All the positivity from the viewers does keep me driven. Almost two years into this now, so motivation can be hard sometimes. I hope to kind of keep that the structure of the channel moving forward. A large main project but also side things that can be covered in just one video. My list of ideas is longer than the time and money I have to do it. So I won’t be going away any time soon! Cheers
The reliability and durability are on display. Some customer is going to come along and ask him to build a similar thing for them. It is a gamble. But if all he ends up with is a cool custom tracked vehicle, it is not a bad deal at all, so long as his family uses it and enjoys it.
Look into the prime weld cut60 plasma. It's a highly regarded machine and very durable. And great price. I have been using the Everlast 52i and it's been great too. It's got a 100% duty cycle at 40a

He has an older Bombardier. This one is completely designed and build by myself. I took inspiration from the bombi’s and also Argo/muddox! Maybe if my channel gets big enough I’ll have to go riding with them lol!
For-sure. I was looking for set screws like that but couldn’t find any in my shop. As you can tell I don’t necessarily have everything I need so at time I more or less just try to make do with what I have. I really need to buy some screw kits of a variety.
Thanks Scott! I believe it’s 1960’s-1970’s ish Cincinnati 20T 4’ mechanical press break. There is no identifier on it anymore but a couple guys from a Facebook group confirmed that’s what it is. Lots more videos to come!
For sure. But that was 3/8” material and with the TPI I have on the blade I had like 4-5 teeth in contact so it was all good. I abused the blade previously.
I really want to go the route of hot dip galvanizing. Actually just got a quote back and it’ll be approx $700. I know it will wear off in certain areas but anything will. This way the inside gets coated and it will basically last for ever
@CenterLineDesigns this sounds like the most durable option. Wish there was a way to test them first without going through all the extra hassle of assembling and disassembling them and assembling them again.

Great job explaining how all the individual track parts go together. I did flinch when you put your head between the brake jaws.

If your track frame things weigh 10 lbs each and you have 500 of them that's 5000 lbs of weight. Ain't that a lot? Love watching, you are a smart guy.

Maybe paint some lube onto the punches, and onto the sides of the aluminum angles so that the belt can slide through more easily.

Just a thought you could use 1/4 Alan wrench screws and you would not have to cut them. Like you are going to do with the bolts.

When cutting flat stock in your bandsaw lay material flat as to have the most bandsaw teeth engaged you will save the life of your blades
