    Is there a difference between countries about when to signal and not? In Sweden you should not signal before it's possible to change lane. If there are cars in the other lane people will think that you are about to go in front of them if you signal too early...

    • @singerGBNL
      @singerGBNL ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope, they really were supposed to check first and then indicate when it's safe to move. I don't know why this instructor told her to indicate first, this can be dangerous for the exact reason you mentioned. A lot of people in this country signal on the motorway as a way of 'asking' to be let out and that scares the hell out of me - like just wait for a slot like you're supposed to, otherwise I'm worried they're going to just move out in front of me!

    • @TheCarLovingSwede
      @TheCarLovingSwede ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@singerGBNL Thanks. I agree with you. If someone indicates I expect them to change lane. But I know that in some countries you are supposed to indicate to show that you "want to" change lane, not that you will change lane.

    Isn't it MSM. So you check mirrors first and then only signal when it's clear and you can go.
    If you signal before checking if it's clear then it can affect the other drivers that are next to you and make them slow down unnecessarily?

    • @MzMontana
      @MzMontana ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No... When teaching drivers for their first times on the road you want to drill it in to always indicate before even checking. Check rearview before decreasing speed but indicators fine as firstly, no one should be reacting suddenly to an indicator, to do so would make that person (on the other lane in your example) the bad driver. When experienced you'll find indicating, keeping speed, checking next lane and rear view then moving over will happen in a fluid motion. However this driving lessons/school so things are done as safe as possible while trying to be realistic as possible.
      I'd fear a higher chance of incident were the learner driver check first, which unexpectedly brings the speed down (still learning) making it dangerous for any car following behind. Then say they notice a car right where they wanted to move over, it'll cause some brief panic to which they may end up braking, swerving right into the car, speed up drastically trying to get in front of next lane car etc. Now if they'd have indicated at least cars around could defensively be on the lookout, slow down as needed plus much for reasoning I'm prob forgetting.
      I'm speaking on Australian roads but don't see why itd be much different in the UK. ❤
      Unexpected behaviour is the number one danger made by other drivers.

Worst drivers I’ve ever come across in my life. No one uses turn signals, constant cut offs, slow morons blocking the passing lane, etc. every single day on the way to work. Apparently they don’t do anything wrong and get pissed when I rightfully flip them off for not being able to do something as simple as drive a car correctly though. If you signal when the gap is there and go for it, you could potentially cause a wreck. And it does piss other drivers off and is considered “last minute”😂that’s actually how many of wrecks have happened here in the states. Cause I know if I’m driving behind someone, there’s a gap approaching to the right of me, and I see no signal light I’m going for it. Then the car in front of me waits till the gap is there to turn on signals lights and jumps to it as well and oh look….we’ve wrecked.

    Biggest mistake of the instructor, after you turn right you should never focus on overtaking. Rather just change lane and drive with respect to your speed and safety. If you change lanes to overtake and keep focusing on overtaking there is a chance you might go too fast and become unsteady. (Since there is a chance the vehicle u want to overtake Tries to speed up.

    • @instinctivehd652

      U can undertake in the left lane, the lane on the right here is used to overtake, hence why they changed lanes
