Timmy, I have enjoyed your other videos from other Latin American countries, but these videos on Cuba I’ve really enjoyed (seeing as I’m Cuban). I envy you, I last saw my country as a child, 52 years ago. BTW the old cars from the 1950s are called a”almendrones,” Cuba used to be a well to do country with nice buildings, now sadly all dilapidated and falling down 😢. I never lose hope of seeing it free one day, and maybe it will again be a nice place to live in. Still has beautiful natural sites and people are still nice, by and large (though some people can be a little fresh and low class), most people are friendly though, hope that doesn’t change. What the old man said is unfortunately not true any longer, Havana is mostly safe, but criminal activity is on the upswing , especially scammers (Ike the dude that swore he knew you) 🤔and not all places are safe, use your judgement. Stay safe!
U think is difficult to record illegal activities in Cuba!??Or to expose prostitutes and cigar illegal sellers? They are all over the place - they approcjed me millions of times. I don’t post these things cause i put Cuban people above money and views. Trust me if i upload all my Cuban footage and do what he did - im gonna send so many poor people in prison same way he did! Sorry but I cant sleep knowing that i made $10k over a guy who resells cigars illegally out of necesity and then exposing him on a video and send him to prison for 20 years! Cuba is a complicated country and if u wanna protect the people that u are filming- u have to respect the government laws unless u are a piece of s*t person and u don’t g a shit about nothing but views and money!! Im not perfect neither Saint but I could never do such a thing bro. I wouldn’t be able to sleep

We had a great time in Havana, felt felt really safe, the people are friendly, no street crime. They are very resourceful people, they make spare parts to keep those old cars going. They also train 11,000 doctors a year, way more than the UK, they keep the whole of South America supplied, this despite a 50 year trade embargo by the US.
@@ragbag46 Absolutely, Cuba is better off without them. The guy who showed us around was a university professor who did guide work to make ends meet. He was extremely critical of the regime but admitted that the place was a cesspit of American gangsters, who had casinos, drug cartels, prostitution and gun running operations until Castro kicked them all out. It's shameful that the EU and UK have not invested in Cuba because they are scared to upset the US.

I was in Cuba just 2 months ago and actually stayed in the same casa and the same room as you're (I recognized the entry and the steep stairs immediately, however it was really nice there! Is one foot of the bed still broken? haha). Like you said in the beginning, when you first arrive in La Habana all feels like a crazy fever dream. Everything is so different from our normal life than anything I ever experienced. Although I prepared and informed myself a lot before my travel, but it took me 2-3 days to kind of realize what is actually going on. I travled the country for 16 days and I met so many very nice people, made some friends, saw the absolute beatuy of the Cuban nature, but also the unimaginable hardship of live there and in the countryside, the pollution, the fear, the concerns about the future... even just where to find food for the next day... I'm so glad to have had the opportunity to make this experience because it showed me how thankful I can be of where I live and where I was born. With our daily struggles in our "civilized" and modern world, we often forget how good we actually live and how fortunate we are. Fortunate to just go in a store and buy different food other than canned olives... or just go to the tap and fill a glass of water which you can actually drink... Btw just one tip, when you leave through the entrance of the casa to the left, and then directly left again down the street, you will find in like 300m a big "shopping center" with food stores downstairs. I had the luck that they had water, which was hard enough to find... Best of luck on your journey, I hope this country will leave something positive with you as well, despite all the negatives ✌
I was in Cuba over a decade ago and I agree with much of what you said. However, we have to consider what we mean when we say "we" in the civilized world. There is disgusting poverty in the advanced capitalist countries, too. We cannot understand the situation in Cuba outside of the fact, the hard fact, that the US imposes an uncivilized embargo on trade with other countries.
@@sanyopoweraid1it’s easy and lazy to blame it all on the US when in reality it’s the Cuban government that has kept the Cuban people in this impoverished state. They don’t need the US when China trades with Cuba so the embargo talk is alot of BS.
@@R2TheM China trades with Cuba? You're just making stuff up to fit your agenda. yeah, tons of stuff "made in China" floating around Cuba. lol. The reality is that you cannot understand the situation in Cuba outside of the brutal US embargo. You want to, but reality has other things to say that you like to ignore. You're a dishonest actor.
@@R2TheM As a Cuban, let me publicly ratify everything you said is 100% true. The problem is the COMMUNIST GOVERNMENT... those MFs that are oppressing the people and don't want to release the productive forces and establish a free market economy, because of the socialist ideology mindset, and also because they benefit from the status quo, with their import businesses that thrive on the misery of the Cuban people that live in that prison island.
Those public phones were not from the USSR (Soviet Republic) as their phones were very antiquated up until the break-up. My guess the phones were made in Canada by Northern Telecom who made all the phones for Bell Canada. Canada has always been open to trade with Cuba since Fidel Castro came into power. And looking at the phones, they were similar to the payphones that you would have found on the streets of Toronto in the 1980's.
How does the embargo complicate humanitarian assistance? Gail Reed, public health specialist, journalist and founder of the Medical Education Cooperation with Cuba (MEDICC) highlights that "the US embargo has dire consequences for Cubans, endangering the health and well-being of women and children." Its complex licensing requirements effectively prevent food, medicine and medical equipment from reaching Cubans. They discourage the sale of medical equipment to the island, which led to the cancellation of the sale of ventilators by a Swiss company to Cuba during the pandemic. Regulatory requirements also impose onerous challenges to the provision of humanitarian assistance. These restrictive policies make it extremely difficult to send aid to Cuba for fear of running afoul of the US Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control and incurring heavy fines
Beautiful video papi! I was in Cuba for 2 months in February, it's such a special place. Once you go more East to Baracoa it get's even more crazy and 'back in the time'. Often was in situations without drinking water and electricity. Enjoy it man!!

You must read a lot about Cuban history before visiting this heaven on earth place as Columbus described it in order to connect the dots. It is a cultural travel and for sure it will change your life prespective. Timmy you did an amazing documentary, 100% accurate to the situation there. I wish the best for Cuban people and hopefully better days to come for all of them. Φιλιά πολλά από Ελλάδα.

Same. I went there. The place remines me of Venezuala.
That hairdresser was interesting character. We need more of her. Take her as tourguide 😂. Cuba looks surreal, seems offers and hustling come in every second corner.

Hey bro, your video is awesome, I was in Cuba about 6 years ago, for a about a month, spent a lot of time in Old Havana, with the local people, it looks ghetto, but the people are very gracious, I never really got bothered by anyone, for being a gringo, from California, dud, I kind of miss it , but I travel to many parts of the world, tha music is awesome and the mojitos, to die for, didnt care to much for the food, awesome bro keep it up
Bro. thank you for sharing this side of Cuba.
Thanks for appreciating the video brother. I have many more videos to post🙏🏼

I meet the guy there with a raspy voice. He told me he was a former MLB baseball player. Bought him a couple of drinks when I was there. Dude was a character
Stay safe!
Epic documentary! Timmy can blend into any environment like a chameleon
Kurt Caz had a way better documentary about Cuba :)

Greetings from Fresno, California I saw your video of Cuba on TH-cam. It was awesome. You remind me of my friend from the cruise ship who was great.
This is the real Cuba, there is no need to talk about politics to realize what's really going on there.
Well done Timmy, always a pleasure to watch cause you keep it down to earth and respectful. Not like one other young male youtuber who has become too full of himself and ignorant to have respect.

When I look at the States and the embargo, maybe you are better of without their help, the states is a mess, all this Trump s….t

You can't be fat. without starving other countries. It's called capitalism. Dummies!

45:00 Bro capped his way into a conversation with Timmy so ruthlessly 🤣 “hey don’t you remember me? I’ve seen you a million times…”
that guy was an idiot, but this is a very common way for Cuban 'jiniteros' to approach tourists. They pretend they met you before, and hope you go along with it. Then they take you to a bar or restaurant where they get paid a commission for bringing you. Or sell you cigars, classic car rides, etc.
