If the rear part of the factory harness is unchanged, the stock wiring connects the fuel sensor to ground and relies on the factory gauge cluster for the 5V sensor reference power (page Z-42 in the Mazda wiring diagram). I'm not super familiar with Haltech but for most analog measurements to work properly, that resistor should be tapping to a 5V supply wire not a sensor ground wire. Try disconnecting the resistor, and use a multimeter to measure resistance between the fuel sensor and ground. It should measure about 7 ohms when full, 31 ohms when half full, and 75 ohms when empty (page T-24 in the Mazda service highlights manual). With the 220 ohms resistor tapped to a 5V reference line, the voltage should be about 1.25V when empty, 0.6V at half tank, and about 0.15V when full. That should be enough of a spread that the ECU or dash can work with it.
I parked my 2011 sti 11 years ago to become my mothers care taker, 11 years later and I get to drive it for the first time again, IAG 900, G35-900 etc, I am beyond excited and love seeing how happy driving it made you feel!
Having built a car from the ground up and it sitting for years on end, that first drive is the most unique feeling. Congrats. Good luck getting that smile off your face for a while!
None of the issues you have had are specifically rotary issues. They are just the regular teething issues when you do such a thorough rebuild and modification. You have rebuilt every little thing and it takes time to make all the new parts play nicely together. Relax guy, its all good.

But things like having a bench vise or extra stands to help hold things under the car. Think driveway mechanic. That would be much appreciated thats the kinda of video thats a slow burn.

@ The outback is doing fine. Im facing some maintenance work with suspension since it is a 20 year old car from Minnesota but other than that its been great. The only problem is that its ej20x swapped and I didnt know to stay away from them until AFTER I bought it 😂😂😂

@Smeedia we tried new sensors but the standard dash filters out the noise. Where you doing 1 to 7kph it would read 700kph 2000kph then 3 etc. We tried resistors but just before going gps speedometer. Boostech performance used the abs sensor. Now is spot on
On the streets! Congrats dude. I think you will find less is more in the FD. Even 500 wheel is a complete handful. I like closer to 400 more fun with less worrying about the drivetrain.
Yep, in terms of shift points and driving, you kinda wanna drive em like 2 Stroke engines. Keep em a bit higher to prevent fouled plugs and stuttering and shuttering.

If you want to be able to bleed the brakes on your own easily, pick up the Allstar Performance Bleeder Bottle w/Magnet and Check Valve (ALL11017). Make sure it's the one with the check valve. Otherwise, congrats on getting this running! There is nothing like a rotary engine. It's hard to put it into words but it just generates a certain smile...just wait until you can add boost. Kind of weird but to me from my experience, it seems like a lot of people make the jump from Subaru to rotaries naturally. I have an 05 STI and 93 FD.
I have one of those bleeder pots. But I never feel like the brakes are fully bled using them. The it could just be me but they always feel Spinney still after using them 🧐
you are having the same amount of fun with a rotary as I did. Its incredibly different and amazing. that high rpm savagery will only get more fun as you tune the car for boost brother. ENJOY IT WELL AND OFTEN. as long as you keep up the maintenance and premix regularly. Its way more fun to drive than a piston motor for daily driving.
After just some normal street driving I’m hooked on that thing! Will definitely keep up on everything needed. Want this thing to live as long as possible 🥳
@ keep up the maintenance, and keep that boost under 14psi and apparently you can smash the limiter like the vargas bros for days and not have issues until your coolant lines fail from the pressure during a 15minute long burnout at cleetus and cars burnout comp.
you should run single wiper blade. straight lemans style race car lol also yes rotary motors do drive different. kind of hard to explain they just live in the revs. i used to shift around 5-6k normal driving when i had a 13b anything less is like super chill mode lol
I noticed you using the 'quickjack'. I've got the same one and I love it. It /looks/ like you removed your side skirts to throw it on the quickjack. Is that the case?
I will tell you, youll know when you can actually rev it out, but that high rev powerband is exactly how a V7 EJ207 powerband is its glorious -a rotary and subaru guy
This maybe a stupid question but I’m so confused about your fueling system. It’s normal to use premix fuel in rx7’s? If so why and how are you gonna switch to e85?
@@drkangel1134normally rotary engines have something called an oil metering pump that injects oil into the rotor housing to lubricate the apex seals. But if they fail they will take out your engine (if you’re not using premix). So we deleted the oil metering pump, the only way to lubricate the rotor housings now is to add premix into the fuel. So the fuel lubricated everything now

For the speed we tested a few places and settled using the abs rear sensor. Spot on for speed compared to gps

A vacuum bleeder is cheap and makes solo bleeding brakes super easy.

E85 burns cooler so you can get more aggressive with tuner safer. IE you can make more power
