I saw this and had to expand on it. I know this comment was basically forever ago but it's fine. Today's hunt was long. Sam had stayed back at the bunker to continue looking through some of the men of letters books while the rest of us drove towards the job. 'Mom' and 'Dad', as I liked to call Cas and Dean from time to time, were talking about random things in the front seat while Jack and I sat in the back. (Going to completely ignore that this scenario makes Sam, Uncle Sam) No music was playing on the radio tonight as everyone could tell by my face that I was tired. Jack had been the first to point it out when we had first gotten into the car. He had told me that I could rest against him if I wanted since he wouldn't be sleeping anyways. I had started off the night leaning against his shoulder as the soft purr of the Impala's engine and the rain that was beating on the roof all tried to lul me to sleep but I was having a hard time staying comfortable. Jack seemed to have taken notice of my restlessness at some point and eventually moved me so that I was laying across the back seat with my head in his lap. When I had tried to protest that I was fine he simply refused to let me do much and told me to just try to sleep. I laid there looking up at him until he started massaging my scalp with his fingers gently. It was the final push that I needed to fall asleep. I don't exactly know when it happened. I only know that while I was asleep I could still vaguely hear the conversation up front and the rain. *This is actually shorter than what I would typically write but I wasn't given very much to go off of and I really wanted to do it*
POV: You had been having a hard time sleeping as of late. You insisted to keep pushing and hunting, even though Sam and Dean both knew you were spreading yourself too thin. You had been hunting on less than an hour of sleep recently, and after hunting a vampire nest with Castiel and Dean you finally crashed. You got into the backseat of the impala, half asleep, and Castiel gave you his trench coat to wear as a blanket as you slept. You slept peacefully in the backseat while Castiel and Dean spoke and drove.

More accurate to say Cas is the 3rd wheel to Sam and Dean in the Impala…they literally say that to him in an ep when he tries to take Sam’s spot as shotgun to Dean
I have my head in Sam’s arms in the back seat Dean and Cas are talking after Cas saw saw Sam slip me a goodnight kiss he suggested driving around for awhile would be a good idea. I hear Sam whimper Jess’s name in his sleep and cradle his head to my heart. I wanted to ask Dean what to do but Cas whispers you know what to do. I whisper Sam it’s kitten. Kitty’s got you. He falls asleep peacefully with his head on my chest. Dean grumbled Cas how did you know? How did you know what to do? How did you know she knew? Cas smiles she already knows him just like i know you. Now the only place Jess can sleep is Bobby’s cabin or this car. I thought considering the feelings your brother is fighting it would be more soothing to drive
