- During the pandemic we bought a very run down village house in Puglia, Italy. We’ve spent the last 2 years renovating the property and 1 year documenting the journey on TH-cam. This is a time lapse of that year of renovating here in Italy.
There is a previous video with images from the first year if you’re interested in seeing the first year. Sadly at that point we didn’t have our TH-cam channel so only photo content was included in that video.
I hope you will enjoy seeing all the hard work and love we have put into this project.

I came across this video and started watching it. The transformation is coming along fantastic especially the garden area which is becoming like an oasis where you can relax, read or have a glass of wine in the evening 🍷🍷 and view with admiration of what you both have achieved so far. Great work guys! we have a similar situation now, bought a "house", after examination the situation is worse than considered in the beginning! Wondering how people could live before in such a ruined housing but.... some love and patients and some EUROS and the house is going to be a jewel afterwards...

Nice work! As someone who renovated a run-down cave house in Andalusia alone, I know how much hard work this is. Especially when you have day-to-day living to take care of as well and learning how to cope in a new country. The second year is easier and you can take time to add personal finishing touches.

@@toritori3325 the lamp is alabaster plaster or gypsum I think it’s called in English. Most of the plaster are either lime or stucco on the walls and built in furnitures :)

@@Maisondebase I appreciate what you did with your house. How old is it? I live in a very old Cedar house by US standards built in 1890. So many of these houses were torn down and replaced with modern houses each resembling the other. I refreshed my house with new double hung windows, paint inside and out, electric and plumbing as well as updated hvac. It has 32 windows which are great for ventilation. I think it takes a special person to cherish vintage homes rather than demolishing them. Please keep up your good work.

…another thing I miss are a few simple painted lines on the interior walls to strengthen and follow the existing form language. Maybe yellow or light blue, depending on whether you want a cool or wormer tune in the room.
Love the way the sunlights shadows concheor these buildings and walls during the day. It’s SO simple when so see it and yet so hard to achieve.

Thanks! We actually rarely argue it doesn’t seem worth the energy haha and we just don’t really have that dynamic in our relationship fortunately, obviously the occasional discussion but not arguments. ☺️

Did you need to get anyone in to check the structural integrity when you removed some plaster/stones from the building?
Thank you! Yes we did have to do work with what is similar to an engineer called a geometra. There are a lot of rules to follow in Italy regarding renovations and especially self renovations aren’t common here, a good geometra is your best friend when it comes to working on old properties here. They can give you all the advice you need and also help you get your ideas approved in the council.

Excellent although are you using Lime Mortar to let the walls breath? If just cement you will have damp problems.
The whole house is with lime. Lime plaster, lime paint, lime stone…..Martin and I have a background in natural building, if you like you can check out our video where we built a house using only natural materials:) we usually only use cement for tables or outdoor kitchens etc we would never touch the house with anything concrete related

Hi! Not sure which base blocks you mean specifically? But usually we used like mortar for the limestones we built many things with
