Praying this hay season goes well. Glad you are showing this, most don't know that everything you do on a farm/ranch is so dependant on the weather and things way beyond your control. God bless
We used to put up smaller bales and store them separately if the clover content was high so it didn't get mixed up with better hay. Then it could be mixed in and fed judiciously. Farming...there's always something to worry about!! But gotta love it!!! 😍
This is one of the few TH-cam channels with hundreds of thousands of subscribers I watch. Your voice is broadcast quality and your real videos are great for learning where our food actually comes from. Amazing how good those fields look, Wyoming always made me think of a cold desert with little or no good grazing land. As a long time carnivore I like anything cattle related and harvesting hay has always appealed to me. Picking bales off of a field with a skid steer is my favorite farm activity.
I do wish you guys luck Mike. When I was a kid we fed our horses straight alfalfa. Now it is considered a ‘hot feed’ and we feed 3-way. I’m sure you know all that. It’s a wonder we weren’t causing colic all the time. It is so very interesting learning about haying for cattle and how you depend on Mother Nature, still. Thank you for being such a great teacher!
Hard to believe it's already been a year since the last haying. I remember anxiously waiting for the videos last year to watch how haying went. I'll be looking forward to these videos too!
Our wyoming life I hope you that you have s successful haying season I hope that you guys don't get hail and I hope it's just rain that comes and I hope you have a great weekend.
It's hard to believe it's already a year since last haying. Green and yellow look so beautiful. Prayers that you get all you need and a little more. In our area we are in drought condition. Weeds grow regardless but the grass crunches under foot. Have a great evening.
Hay Mike! Thanks for the haying update! Yes, clover can cause some issues with your bovines! 🐝 🐝 Bees ❤️ it though! Sending up Prayers for you and the ranch.... May you have a successful haying season and that the bad weather stays away!! 🙏 Prayers for Bambi.... I hope she will be okay. 😌🙏 Ethel is just waiting for the right moment to surprise us! Until your next video ~~~ Stay safe, healthy and happy! 🐃🐂🐄
I am from the UK and buying from local Farms is the same here ,there is not a lot of difference between the USA and the UK . I am a retired dairy farmer and with the internet i am farming around the world ,keep up the good work .
Missed this notification somehow. Good to see the hay looking so good! My cousin in Idaho cut her alfalfa hay last week & it looks pretty good too. This great wet Spring/Summer we've had certainly helps the world look so green! 🤠
Another great educational video. There is always a challenge with each season. You and your family, ranchhand Jeff and Miss Kari handle each season, each day with strength and courage. This a a trait many of our younger generations have never dealt with. I pray for the ranch's continued successes and all who make up 'Our Wyoming Life ' family. God Bless from a very hot Southern Oklahoma.
Rain is everything. Glad u finally got some. We are only at 2 inches since winter. 3/10 in June so far. South east Sask. Sweet clover took over in pastures here.
I’m in the middle of my third chop and drop of my alfalfa fields this year in Iowa. Trying to shift the mix of hay away from alfalfa and more towards orchard grass, timothy and brome. I don’t think we’ve had nearly as much rain as you have though. We’re trying to avoid bloat too and we have a ways to go.
I’ve seen the channel when the hay was pretty scarce due to lack of rain. Now with enough rain or too much it’s still a worry. Farming and ranching definitely is a day to day concern. Good luck.
I had no idea of the different types of grasses and how they can affect a cow's health. Prayed hard for rain so you would have a successful haying season and its all a beautiful green, much more so than SE Wisconsin. Will pray for No Hail! And for Miss Bambi. Hope she has that baby real soon!
Hi Mike, if you don't know what to do with all that rain you could send it to Minnesota PLEASE. We are getting near extreme drought conditions again. We have done first cut to hayliege and can't cut again without a giant gulp of rain. It's going to be harsh year without rain soon. Please count your blessings . Thanks
Thanks for sharing another great video 😊😊In my future i say the haye field will grow so amazing for them healthy cows. Hugs And Prayers Everyone ❤❤See you all next time on Our Wyoming Life😊😊😊
As a fairly new stubbie I have been looking back over the old videos and didn’t know the fields could look so green . I’m guessing the drought has broken? Thanks for sharing . Xx
I'm praying for your hay and happy weather. I wish I was going to be there to smell the new-mown hay - Always my favorite....better than roses to a farmer. 😃 As always, Thank you for Sharing!
Here in South Africa we use a product called diatomaceous earth Theres specific ones for animals It helps with the digestive system of all animals And has helped against bloat in animals It is a powder form and can fed with the animals feed or pellets.
Good video Mike. Most all the farmers in my area have moved away from cutting with a sickle bar mower and raking and switched to using mower-conditioners. They say it lets them save fuel and gets them more and higher quality hay in the end. Is that something popular in Wyoming or something you have considered?
Mike thank you for opening our eyes to all the problems that you have him putting up this hay in the area you live in. May this hail pass over your Ranch and do no damage
Hay season is all about equipment preparations. Bring on the tractor videos. LOL I'll send my prayers to gods of cast iron and diesel for and smooth harvest. Best wishes, Mike and Erin. -EZ
That’s funny. Our cows get pure sweet clover bales. Never have a problem. Only bloat trouble I get is on second cut alfalfa. We even graze sweet clover as pastures.
We are finishing up our late of our first cutting tomorrow. Won't be long second cutting Alfalfa for us will be here. It's crazy to me the difference between wyoming and Illinois especially with all the rain you've gotten and the lack of rain we have had and we are still growing some hay lol
What is silage? I do pray that you will get a great hay season. I never knew that so much thought goes into making sure the cows get the best hay! Great job explains everything 🇨🇦
Well, I'm looking forward to the haying this year. Anxious to see what you get and how things go, wishing for the best. I have done about half of my hay this year, with not too good of results. I may have to do a fall cut, or reduce the herd, we'll just have to see what we get before we decide. Anyways, the best of luck again, take care and stay well. Have a good day!
Your almost there. Pray you get the most hay you have had in several years. Question, can you spray to get rid of the yellow clover. Extra cost I realize. Then reseed the field. Thanks Mike.
I would be mowing down the sweet clover near the road to keep it from seeding! I would not care how much time it took to help knock it back for next year’s crop.
Looking good Mike. Getting it dry is difficult especially when it takes longer to dry than the grass. Hope the weather cooperates. Just a thought but wondering if you could switch one of pastures with Jim's field - let them graze the clover and bale the pasture...cut across pasture being an example.
How did you learn so much about farming? Since this is your second career it seems like you are exceptionally intelligent on farming technical knowledge.
Hay season was crap here in Alabama. Though maybe just because they cut my fields late. Baaaad harvest, the amount we would normally get from third cut.
I'm praying for you during haying and look forward to seeing the results! By the way did last year's harvest see you through until you were able to put the cows out to pasture?
Prayin the storm skirts the ranch and will not destroy your hay crop. Haven't seen Jeff lately, what's happening with Jeff, is he Okay? I sure hope so! Thanks for the fencing videos, interesting!
Hi mike, great content have you considered using a mower conditioner to bruise and therefore aid drying of the clover which has a fleshie stem, also why dont you cover the hay when in store as hay can still collect mould from the exposed elements
I'm curious. Im 3rd generation farm up till 14 years ago but still monkeying around. I have never seen yellow clover before and found it interesting. So my dad or I use to use cover (Big Red), and Rye in our fields. And other grasses as well it was in one field. To reseed he would put the hay seed on the manure in the spreader and seed that way. Only what it was lacking. Also he used clover to improve the land by plowing it under. Have you ever done that? Mind you our farm was 150 acres which was a mix farm. River frontage, 10 acres of hay, 10 acres in market garden,30 acres of forest, 5 acres of orchard 2 acres of grapes , 1.5 acres of assorted berries. 6 acres used up for buildings, parking, lawn, and the rest in pasture different areas of course for rotation. Wen we were young he grew wheat, rye oats, and corn. Then he cut back to oatcorngrass(mix) hay the cows and other animals thrived on it. No man made commercial grains. Our oldest cow 25 years died a year after my dad died. And the horse he had did. 3 weeks shy of 50. And they all lived on the grainhay. Yes the vet was in to check on the animals periodically. Miss that life but not the greenhouse and marketing or orchard. Thank you for take my out on this educational tour. Yes bloat is not good. That is another story. God Bless
Praying this hay season goes well. Glad you are showing this, most don't know that everything you do on a farm/ranch is so dependant on the weather and things way beyond your control. God bless
Mike you talked about a few days ago you were concerned about the storm and hay how did that come out
We used to put up smaller bales and store them separately if the clover content was high so it didn't get mixed up with better hay. Then it could be mixed in and fed judiciously. Farming...there's always something to worry about!! But gotta love it!!! 😍
That's a great idea! Thanks
The grass looks great. Hope your able to harvest your number quickly. And safely. Good luck. Can't wait to see the results.
Hope the hay season is good for you guys and all the farmers.👍❤️🇨🇦
Thank you
Prayers for a good hay season and wishing you good luck for great timing and weather.

Praying for a calm haying season and that the hail holds itself at bay until you are finished haying.
At 22:02, I'm reminded of those scenes in the movie, "Gladiator". Hoping you have a prosperous haying season.
Mike, I have been watching for years now and this is greenest and yellowest I have seen the ranch. Hoping for the best haying season.
That is the prettiest hay field I've seen on the ranch. Hope it helps!
I hope so too!
The fields look so beautiful.. Hope you have a wonderful haying season.
Hard to believe it's already been a year since the last haying. I remember anxiously waiting for the videos last year to watch how haying went. I'll be looking forward to these videos too!

Really good information for those who don’t understand how feeding cows works. Prayers for the best possible hay season this year.
Looks like the best moisture year since I’ve been watching the channel. Well overdue.
Prayers for a great hey season and for prosperity on the ranch as well as all ranches and farms

I remember that hail storm from a handful of years back. Absolutely crushed the hay in the fields. Fingers crossed on this one.

Very dry here in Wisconsin, send some please.

Very educational
Thank you sir for educating us as to how our food is grown. I could not do 10% of ur work. Good luck with everything too.
Got some challenging issues upcoming haying season! You will overcome them as you did in the past.
Good luck with your having season! Everything's looking good for y'all!! 🤞Fingers crossed🙂

Hi Mike are you going to upgrade your hay equipment this season? Jimmy 🏴
Best of luck with the haying. Time for some beef jerky lunches and hoping the AC keeps working.
Hi Mike that grass look perfect . How big is your farm now after you bought not all of it from your mother in law.
I love the title of this video. I want to support with a order of something
I'm praying for you during haying and look forward to seeing the results! By the way did last year's harvest see you through until you were able to put the cows out to pasture?

Good luck during haying season. Sure wish you could demo a haybine. I think you’d like it more than the sickle bars.
You learned me Something Today Mike,, didn't know Clover would do that Wet..
Mike, I hope the hail stays away. I know hail is devastating to hay. God bless.

They are doing 1st cut here in SE Idaho now. The Rain is making it hard.
