Just finished Army Infantry school and am leaving for Rasp tommorow, I wanted to thankyou for your wisdom it helped alot you gave me some confidence to join which in the end helped alot
Your videos are awesome and really helpful. I ship off to BCT on August 17th to Fort Leonard wood (31B), and your videos have helped bring clarity to the whole process.
I’m telling you right now, it’s not going to be fun, your AIT is BCT 2.0, you will only ever get to go on pass on sundays/rare holidays, and even then they will probably limit it to 8 hours. Your AIT is 9 weeks, realistically it’s only 7 weeks because the last 2 weeks before graduation you clean, turn in gear, practice graduation, etc. I don’t think the training is adequate honestly I think it should be a few weeks longer, graduating from MP school doesn’t mean you’re competent, but at the same time I’m glad it wasn’t longer because you get treated like you’re in basic training the whole damn time, like children, some of that is deserved, some of it is just nonsense. Expect to receive mass punishment for other people’s mistakes, you might get an 8 hour pass one Sunday, then a 6 hour pass the next, even then it takes 30 minutes just to hand out people’s phones, and then anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour just to get a haircut because there aren’t enough barber shops on post considering you can only get a haircut on a Sunday. When you go on pass, get a damn haircut the first thing you do to save yourself some time, get it over with! So you can go to the USO right after and just relax, I don’t understand why people would want to spend half their pass just walking around in the mall. Personally I think that’s a waste of time. I don’t know if you care but get ready to lose 1-2 hours of sleep every night because you’re bunk mates don’t shut their mouths after lights out, being in a barracks with 50 other people for 20 weeks. In red phase people might be too scared to talk, but after that people get annoying. I never studied for the online tests and I still passed, it’s common sense, I failed 2 written forms, I passed them the next time around, not very difficult as long as you pay attention, you’re going to graduate. In AIT. I would not recommend volunteering for details 99% of the time. Reception is 7 days long for you, 7 days of stuff that could be condensed into 2 days, you’re gonna be sitting down reading your blue books for hours straight in uncomfortable seats, and literally waiting in line for hours for them to say “the PX is closed, you waited in line for hours for nothing, go back and sit down again” the highlight of your day will literally be the chow hall, and having dinner when you get to go back to the barracks, but after dinner you might be waiting in formation for like 30min to 2hours instead of going straight to your barracks because, why not? 90% of people who work at reception are mean for no reason, the lady that manages the blood tests will probably be yelling and screaming at you for no reason. Be prepared to get paired with a bunch of high schoolers because you’re shipping in July, when most kids have just graduated. I could say more but that’s really a jist of it.

To all of you, you guys are going to have a fun time. I know this quarantine stuff isn’t very exciting but it’s not as bad as people make it out to be. You get to keep your phones in basic training, and you get Saturday and Sunday off and get to wear civilian clothes on the weekend.
That’s not gonna happen. Even if you did, sending a letter takes a couple days and then receiving a response takes a couple days. Even if you use sandbox, still gonna take a couple days.

Anyone know how long your in reception at Ft Leanordwood while the military is scared about the coronavirus? I have heard a few things that conflict each other. 1. We are supposed to do a 2 week quarantine before we leave and 2. We will be in a 2 week quarantine before basic training starts. Thanks :)
Hi, my buddy went to ft lost-in-the-woods ladt year, and in normal conditions her reception was only one week long. Where she and I are now, and all my battle buddies shipping out to different countries after AIT, everyone gets to their new forts and is in quarantine for 2 weeks. If you need some peace of mind, just assume its 2 weeks even if you have nothing left to do in reception. :) hope this helps a bit
Ask your recruiter, also, just expect to be in quarantine for 2 weeks anyway, the army loves to waste your time, I wouldn’t be surprised if they quarantined you at reception for an extra 2 weeks. If you do get quarantined at reception, dear god don’t lose your mind.
My trainee asked me to send him a couple of things at basic training I went to the post office and put the address that he had been putting in his mail letters but the person at post office said that address didn’t pop up

My son only gets his mail on Sundays. So I make sure I write him on Mondays and Tuesdays, so it gets to him by Sun. every week.

You guys will not receive mail in reception just saying. With that being said we received mail once every phase 😂😂
I told a battle buddy once we heard her name called for a package when she was away on a special order, and she argued with the drill sergeant about how she needed her package. Ds wanted to wait until the next mail call, but when a "trainee" started to demand mail right then and there, she sent it back to the mail room.
Once every phase, at that point it’s not even worth it.
