As an 80s baby, this almost breaks my heart. Break dancing used to be so cool! She made it into a joke. I encourage everyone who's not familiar with break dancing look up some of the old school stars of the art to see what it was really about. Boogaloo Shrimp, the Rock Steady Crew, Tony Touch, Zulu Kings, and of course, the King himself: Michael Jackson. It's not about race or gender: plenty of great white and Asian and female breakers. It's just about respect and taking the art seriously.

As an 80s baby, this almost breaks my heart. Break dancing used to be so cool! She made it into a joke. I encourage everyone who's not familiar with break dancing look up some of the old school stars of the art to see what it was really about. Boogaloo Shrimp, the Rock Steady Crew, Tony Touch, Zulu Kings, and of course, the King himself: Michael Jackson. It's not about race or gender: plenty of great white and Asian and female breakers. It's just about respect and taking the art seriously.
