11:15 my favorite from this season was Wash being completely stuck on how to find Carolina, but the solution was so simple, even the Triplets were able to figure out the answer.
“You tell them it makes a big difference Bitters! Because I AM ORANGE! I am not gold, I am not yellow, I am fucking orange!” I’ve memorized that line lol
sometimes i feel as if i was born too late. but then i remember that i had the blessing to be able to grow up watching rvb with my brothers. my uncle even made us some custom spartan figures based off wash, caboose and carolina. this series means so much to me and i will remember it as long as i live.
This is long, so bare with me. In Restoration, how you said you wish Tucker was involved more, I thought of this idea for how the final fight could have ended: Carolina and Tex get the Meta pinned. Tex jumps into Meta/Tucke's mind and sees the other fragments, and Tucker is unconscious and restrained in the air (in his mind), and all the fragments are in Tex's way. She fights off the fragments, gets to Tucker, and tries to get him to snap out of the fragments control. Tucker says he can't stop it! Tex says, "You can. You just have to try." (Call back to Wash and Tucker in season 11) Tex would then get swarmed by the fragments not being able to hold them off, still trying to get Tucker to snap out of it. Sigma would then speak negatively to Tucker, trying to get him under their control again. But Tucker would say something witty that would get the viewer/watcher like, "HELL YES!!!!!". Tex and Tucker would then fight off the fragments, and Tex would pop out of the Meta's visor and say, "Now, Carolina!" Carolina puts the recovery unit on the Meta's armor, all the fragments get sucked in, and Tex and Church would still get their final interaction together.

If you ignore season 18 entirely and most of 16, you have a surprisingly well put timeline that answers an absurd number of questions while giving every Red and Blue a spotlight. I can appreciate that the writers (when not on shrooms) kept everything decently coherent to the end. Funnily enough, that spotlight is why season 17 is unironically one of my favorites because it gives Meme Master Donut a massive spotlight where as he almost never has one in any other season (ignoring 16 because PHUQ THAT)
Something I liked about the start of season 15 that I only realised on a rewatch is that its pretty similar to the start of Reconstruction where Wash would go to familiar areas to find the Reds and Blues
So the end of the year is coming up fast, and I have been enjoying re-watching the seasons of Red vs Blue again. I love that the community is still going, videos and compilations are being done which is fantastic to see for a series that has been around longer than this platform. I love Red vs Blue it is an amazing series that is just comforting to re-watch. The only concern I have is, will we become like the Director? chasing a memory, a shadow, staying stuck in the past? As good of a series as this is, and comforting, thinking about the future will there come a time when we fans also have to do what Epsilon learned to do in the memory unit and let go?
Fantastic video! I first started watching Red vs. Blue in I believe 2014, whenever S12 was being released and RvB was added to Netflix. That's actually where I found the series. Binged every season that was on Netflix and then watched every season that wasn't on Netflix by watching compilation videos uploaded to youtube before finally starting to watch S12 as it aired. The show really means a lot to me and am thankful for its existence. As for my favorite season it's easily S13, I just prefer RvB being a mix of comedy/drama versus just being a comedy or it just being a drama. As for my least favorite season (besides S18/S16) I'd probably say S19 or Restoration. I understand that this season was made a shoestring budget and the company was literally collapsing while in the season was in production but there's just a lot of creative choices I disagree with. Tucker barely being in it, Donut just not being in it, Sister just being a cameo, Grif leaving Simmons behind, none of the Chorus character return besides Dr. Grey and obviously Doc dying off screen which honestly might be the worst creative choice they've ever made in the series imo. I much prefer S17's ending for the series with everyone being alive and happy and Wash's brain injury arc being treated with respect. Yeah S18 kinda messes with that but let's pretend that doesn't exist.
Instead of doing Zero, I can't help but feel they already had the setup for a reboot with a new gang that they just failed to utilise, namely the Triplets mini episode from Season 14! I mean they've basically already set up a new version of the original Blood Gulch scenario. 3 of the worst Freelancers and 3 Charon Industries rejects stuck in the middle of a battleground nobody gives a damn about with nothing to do but antagonise each other, I mean what comes next more or less writes itself. Plus it would have saved us from Zero!
I actually have a pretty big soft spot for season 17, because even though like you said season 16 was the worst season of actual red vs blue, Singularity for a long time was the ending of the series and when zero jump the cosmic space shark I had for a long time cement of the opinion that this was the ending of the show and was honestly satisfied with that. For final season to take you back for the entire shows history should we put on display and messed with I honestly found it to be a pretty good way to conclude the show. Don't give me wrong I am very glad restoration exist. Both as a way for the story to finish on the terms of its original creator instead of whatever the hell zero was, and for the story to be put in the position where they could wright with the intention of it being an ending. However I would be lying if I said I was ignorant to a lot of the flaws restoration has, now I know the main reason these flaws exist is because of the state the company was in when this season was being made and it was being constrained both timeline wise and budgetary wise, so even if I accept all that and I'm genuinely happy the show ended on its own terms I can also say I'm very happy that the decision was made to not retcon the ending of singularity, instead giving the interpretation that both possible events are just simulations and we as the audience much like epsilon simply do not know which way it all went down.
the shisno trilogy did irreparable things to my brain. the first half of it was so _unbearably boring_ that it almost got me to quit rvb for a while (for the same reasons you said, splitting the characters up was such a bad call) but i will never forgive both zero _and_ restoration for completely retconning washington's brain damage. unlike restoration in which i just felt uncomfortable every time there was a scene with washington in the hospital, shisno made me feel for him and his struggles, and i really appreciated how they pushed the sibling dynamic between him and carolina. the fact that she barely ever had any family (let's be so real, the director was barely her dad) and was incredibly emotionally stunted, only to find a little brother who got a brain injury and suddenly she has no idea what to do for him, to the point where her emotionally constipated ass almost cries multiple times? that was SO GOOD. though, i do think it was a bit out of character for washington to be As Upset as he was, but at the same time i feel like it's a bit difficult to fully capture what a character would do in that situation unless you yourself have gone through that, which afaik none of the rvb production team did
About the blues & reds (S15?): their goal was to destroy the UNSC HQ, and the plan- in a typical show RvB ineptitude- was to drill through the planet. A side effect of that (that notably the blues & reds didn't know about) was that Earth would be destroyed, and the time machine was Loco's solution to the power draw such a feat would have & his desire to help Caboose. TLDR: The plan was destroy the UNSC, the earth blowing up was completely unintended, and the time machine was Loco being Loco Still not my favorite season, but the it does at least make sense
I finished binging the whole show in like a week, and I can't really disagree with your rankings or takes on any of these seasons tbh I really like the Shisno Trilogy, I loved every moment where they decided to get serious and I felt like it was some genuinely beautiful character work every time. I didn't really mind all the meta and referential humor or the less grounded plot, by this point I was mostly just along for the ride and I was able to enjoy those seasons for what they were going for. I do agree tho that the show was generally starting to get tired and the seasons were unnecesary, so I think the ranking is fair I just liked those seasons a lot personally. Zero SUCKS tho, like it *just* sucks. The best I can say is that the fights are pretty cool and it seems to have the highest production of any season. But uh... yeah it just sucks. I had to rant about it to my girlfriend cuz I like all kinds of things no one else likes, I'm an apologist and devils advocate for a lot of stories, but Zero is just one of the few things I'm at a loss for defending. It's just not good. The villain is a character who would've gotten made fun of in previous seasons for how insane he is with no real motive other than power for power's sake, but in Zero he's played compeletely straight! The whole season is completely out of place, it adds nothing, it goes nowhere, it just exists as a huge dissapointment and a waste of time and I wish I didn't watch it. This is a level of criticism I don't give to anything except this one video essay where a guy talks about One Piece for 5 hours and he just describes the plot at you and doesn't actually dissect the story or return to the thesis or explain why moments were important. It's an utter failure of an essay and that's the *only* possible compairison I have for Red vs Blue Zero. I'm not even hateful or angry, I'm just baffled and confused and I don't know how or why it was made to the point that it exists at all and I feel sorry for the people who made it because everyone just has to sit with the fact that they wasted their time. I watched that season *today* so this is all still fresh in my mind
100% agree with the Shisno Trilogy. When it wanted to get serious it had genuinely some of the best emotional moments of the show, even including Season 16
actually as part of the retcons they do explain that none of that was time-travel. That was recursive logic, what computers use to solve problems. Only gamma (deceit) was actually just making up fake scenarios in which to torture church. So in actuality, something else killed flowers (likely a heart attack or taking the wrong meds
19. Zero 18. The Shisno Paradox 17. I hate this but Restoration. It's not bad but they were unfortunately very limited by the runtime and certain characters are EXTREMELY misused (WASH). It's good for what it is, and I'm glad Burnie came back, but it just wasn't what I personally wanted, and that's alright. 16. Season 14 15. Season 15 14. Singularity 13. Season 4 12. Season 9 11. Season 3 10. Season 1 9. Season 2 8. Season 11 7. Season 7 6. Season 5 5. Season 12 4. Revelation 3. Season 10 2. Season 13 1. Reconstruction. A masterpiece and evolution of the show.
Yeah restoration is very stale I’d also argue 15 is slightly better than 17 mainly because it tries to be more intense although it’s way too long over 3 hours and 30 minutes
Red Vs Blue is such an amazing show. The funny thing was I got into it thanks to the RVB Death Battle. I honestly didn't check the Death Battle immediately because I wasn't into Halo at all, but then when I saw it I knew it had nothing to do with the story or games of Halo in a major capacity. I then decided to watch it and fell in love with the comedy. I continued to watch up to season 8 and saw the incredible fights of the season. I also fell in love with the story of the Freelancers of season 9 and 10. I also think the Chorus trilogy was my favorite seasons in terms of telling a new story where the Reds and Blues are greatly focused on a bit more than in season 9 or 10. I honestly loved the ending to 13, but I knew there was more so I gave 15 through 17 a watch but was incredibly disappointed by it having a lot of movie references, weaker pacing, a weaker premise than before, and much worse animation. Then fast forward to a few weeks ago and I decided to give Restoration a watch, but I was just going through the motions while watching it. It was better than the end of season 17, but it didn't match up to season 13 ending for me. I do enjoy it enough and I did give it a few rewatchs, and I think it sends Rooster Teeth and Red vs Blue off fairly well. I didn't even bother watching Zero. My favorite overall season is 8 because I think it had a perfect balance of story, animation, and the way characters were used. My least favorite season out of the ones I've seen is 16 because of bad writing, bad characterization, and just being annoying thanks to Jax. Besides everything though I still love this show and I love rewatching seasons 1 to 13 because of how great they are.
The final season, Restoration, may have had a few pacing issues and felt rushed, but it for sure was one of the best ways they could have ended the series. They alluded to all of the best bits, had the seasons after s13 be rendered non-canon, which would explain why everything became so weird, and it even had closure for a lot of the characters. Donut becoming an Admiral, Grif leaving the army and not having to be forced into it, Simmons becoming a leader, Sarge (even if they went back on his character a bit) sacrificing himself for Caboose and being weirdly happy and content, then Tex coming back and finally having a happy end where she doesn't fail. Made me cry, god dammit. Then there is everything with Wash, how we found out that Doc had died during the last battle of Chorus and Wash blames himself for it, and at the end where Wash asks "Will I be okay?" and all the people in Project Freelancer he was friends with like North appear, it was very fucking emotional. There is no doubt that Restoration had pacing issues, but everything excluding those issues made the best ending Red vs Blue could've had. It had good emotional pay offs, set the characters off on a path that is a conclusion from what they started out as, and everything to do with Freelancer, everything that started what the Reds and Blues had to deal with, is officially over. I especially liked how the theme of Restoration overall was. Memory is the key. You shouldn't cling on to a memory in hopes of being whole and complete, instead you should only cling on to what you need to, in order to grow. While we don't want Red vs Blue to be over, we want to cling to it, it had to end eventually. So instead of being bitter about the end, remember it. Remember how good it was, how happy it made you, how sad and emotional you became, remember it and keep it in your memory. Memory is the key. Plus, even if you don't like Restoration, or you liked how previous season endings could work as an official end, Restoration has small little gags that could work as a "what-if" head canon, especially with Simmons asking Church recording if they are a simulation and he gives a long ass pause and says "...No", or the line where Church says "I don't even know if I got his voice right this time." Restoration closes the doors in a way where you can comfortably say this is the definitive ending to Red vs Blue (I do), or you can simply say it's a simulation if you want, and that another season is the true ending. Honestly, the only major complaint I have about Restoration, aside from pacing, is the fact that Tucker has no closure. He's tortured by Sigma, and we even see him in constant pain, but we don't see any kind of resolution with him. I guess, in previous seasons, he had taken a leading role and went through several arcs that can complete his character, but everyone else had a definitive and closing arc except Tucker, and that is the only part of Restoration I have a complaint with. Overall, I think that out of all the parts that can be endings for the show, I think Restoration is the best.
@@MrAwesome7521that is why Burnie made fun of the fanbase in the restoration trailer & the opening for being being asshole/toxic. You proved him right. Also out of all the endings RVB gave us, Restoration was the most realistic outcome.
I feel like I was one of the only people who was actually willing to give Zero a chance before it released. I thought, yeah, it's clearly not classic RvB, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. And then...uh...yeah...we all know how that turned out.
Dang I really love season 17. Personally, my only gripe is that it's held back by season 16. I understand in the grand scheme of all the episodes where it was placed, though. Good video, broskie.
For me seasons 1 & 2 will always be near the top for me. Mostly due to nostalgia, partly because of how incredible rooster teeth was able to grow into what they became Overall all the seasons would be placed in 4th, 3rd, 2nd, and 1st 😂
well i like red vs blue zero and if you agree then you can like my comment but if you dislike it that's fine any point is i love it the animation is spot on i even love the new characters i mean the team name shatter squad it is a bad ass name that's why i love it
Season 15 wasn't really a retcon because in Season 8 its revealed that everything that happened in Season 1-5 was all fabricated and based off of pre made senaros
2:18 Alright, listen: call Zero what it is, bad, but you hop OFF the fights. It’s okay for something to be good in a shit series, and calling the camera work unfocused… listen I respect your right to an opinion but on a technical level, something I have my degree in, you’re arguably wrong, it’s actually incredibly solid the entire series, it’s one of the most quality parts. Torrian Crawford cooked Monty-style on those fights, they’re masterclasses, I hate Zero but saying the fights were bad…? Couldn’t be me, they’re really competent, well-boarded and well executed.
I don’t even know where to start with you. Season 4 slander? season 1 at 11? Season 5 anywhere other than number 1 from an objective standpoint? Bloodgulch has always been the peak of Red Vs Blue, every season after that loses what made the show special in the first place. 6-8 are fine. 11 is decent but still doesn’t quite recapture the magic despite a return to form. Seasons 9 and 10 are so painful to sit through, poorly written, boring characters, and it honestly comes off as pretentious in my opinion because it thinks so highly of itself. Wishing absolutely no offense to a talented individual and a good friend to so many people, I believe that Monty Oum is the worst thing to ever happen to Red vs. Blue, and that’s for sure my hottest take. 5, 2, 3, 4, 1, 7, 6, 8, 11, everything else I can’t rank because I never rewatch them. 9 and 10 can share last place.
It's so easy when it comes to bottom 2 being Zero and Shisno Paradox. We all know those are the worst seasons of the show. The real interest is in what comes after. I knew those would be the bottom two before clicking the video. The rest is up in the air and that's the fun of RVB to me. I don't think there is a universe best season.. I'd say Season 6, 7 and 8 are probably my favourite but that's just me and I easily see people saying any other main season of the show. Just like how I'd put at least 15 and Restoration above 11. 11 is really funny but had next to nothing to really do with the main conflict of the arc even with some very good set up but that's all it is, it feels so inconclusive on it's own. They're not bad but that's the fun of this show just shows how different it can be for everyone.
Thank you for this analysis. I care for the show a lot and correcting the wrongs of the later seasons is why Red vs. Blue: Out of Touch came to be. I appreciate what you said about Season 15 and Season 7. I think they are under-rated seasons. I would have loved to know your thoughts on the mini seasons, but I supposed you're keeping that for a separate video ;) I do think Out of Mind and Recovery One are some of the best of what RvB has to offer. Season 2 & 6 are the best seasons!!! Never been a fan of the Chorus Trilogy, though structurally mature in its quality, I find there's a tone problem. Miles forgot that RvB is closer to something like south park and always sunny.
I dunno, I hate season 10, it is the one season that I will never rewatch in the entirety, I probably won’t rewatch most of the worst seasons (16,18) but I have made an oath to never rewatch season 10, it pissed me so off and season 11 is such a breath of fresh air from it. But that’s just my opinion
Woah there internet-er !! spoilers much? i was only half way though, just really now, who who who does that these days, like just what do you think this is the 26th century? I havent even seen the latest 10 disneys from last month!
I honestly don't think Zero is that bad, but it just... Isn't Red Vs Blue. It's another story in the RvB world at best. It feels like a great fanmade piece. But instead it's just a mediocre at best piece of official media.
Damn, I’d put seasons 15 and 17 above a couple other seasons (like 1, 4, 9, maybe 11, and Restoration). I think they’re honestly pretty well written. Season 15 I feel gets misunderstood and despite some tonal and pacing issues it has really consistent development among the characters. Season 17 managed to fix everything wrong with 16 and actually made it stand on its own super well.
We must remember that warner rushed season 19 and Burnie was working with no budget. Still made me cry. Season 13 was goodbye to RvB, season 19 was goodbye to rooster teeth
Basically Red vs Blue season 13 was The Main ending while the rest of the seasons 14-19 are just different ending scenarios after season 13. In the End 6 seasons where you can choose how it ends or not even continue at all but the best ending would be 13🔥❤😭!!!

it kinda funny how Tex can do all this acrobatics and beat everyone, but in season 1 she get capture by idiots so easyly
They didn't invent acrobatics at the time
Monty didn't give her the Monty magic yet
Show already elaborates on why Tex tends to take Ls frequently lol

the shisno trilogy did irreparable things to my brain. the first half of it was so _unbearably boring_ that it almost got me to quit rvb for a while (for the same reasons you said, splitting the characters up was such a bad call) but i will never forgive both zero _and_ restoration for completely retconning washington's brain damage. unlike restoration in which i just felt uncomfortable every time there was a scene with washington in the hospital, shisno made me feel for him and his struggles, and i really appreciated how they pushed the sibling dynamic between him and carolina. the fact that she barely ever had any family (let's be so real, the director was barely her dad) and was incredibly emotionally stunted, only to find a little brother who got a brain injury and suddenly she has no idea what to do for him, to the point where her emotionally constipated ass almost cries multiple times? that was SO GOOD. though, i do think it was a bit out of character for washington to be As Upset as he was, but at the same time i feel like it's a bit difficult to fully capture what a character would do in that situation unless you yourself have gone through that, which afaik none of the rvb production team did
Love the videos bro, keep it up!
TLDR: The plan was destroy the UNSC, the earth blowing up was completely unintended, and the time machine was Loco being Loco
Still not my favorite season, but the it does at least make sense
I think season 17 should've been a few episodes longer to further explore their fears.
43:50 by the way, not bias, this is the best moment like the whole franchise
My favorite part of RVB was seasons 8-11 because I loved the story arcs instead of it being kinda like the boys being boys le funi haha joke man thing
I finished binging the whole show in like a week, and I can't really disagree with your rankings or takes on any of these seasons tbh
I really like the Shisno Trilogy, I loved every moment where they decided to get serious and I felt like it was some genuinely beautiful character work every time.
@@shanecorcoran2542 Yes!!
Also "Start a fixed intrest savings account" is probably one of my favorite jokes in the series
Gotta say tho, Zero's spin off are a lot better than its main series
3:14 Huh, time travel was always in the show. What with Church 'killing' Flowers and Wyoming snapping back numerous times.
Great vid.
actually as part of the retcons they do explain that none of that was time-travel. That was recursive logic, what computers use to solve problems. Only gamma (deceit) was actually just making up fake scenarios in which to torture church. So in actuality, something else killed flowers (likely a heart attack or taking the wrong meds
hey, really good video!
19. Zero
18. The Shisno Paradox
17. I hate this but Restoration. It's not bad but they were unfortunately very limited by the runtime and certain characters are EXTREMELY misused (WASH). It's good for what it is, and I'm glad Burnie came back, but it just wasn't what I personally wanted, and that's alright.

1. Reconstruction. A masterpiece and evolution of the show.
Yeah restoration is very stale
I’d also argue 15 is slightly better than 17 mainly because it tries to be more intense although it’s way too long over 3 hours and 30 minutes
Tbh I think reconstruction should have been higher up but I understand why you put it where you did.
I loved Shisno for one reason, and that’s Caboose
Overall, I think that out of all the parts that can be endings for the show, I think Restoration is the best.
mix all the chemicals in your parents house together and drink it before you comment again
please never have an opinion again
@@samyarnall ikr
@@MrAwesome7521that is why Burnie made fun of the fanbase in the restoration trailer & the opening for being being asshole/toxic.
You proved him right.
Also out of all the endings RVB gave us, Restoration was the most realistic outcome.
@@jsapphire6940 if that guys opinion was right, the company would still be around you paint drinking sycophant
For me (who only has seen 1-13 and Restoration)
14: S7
13: S4
12: S2
11: S1
10: S12
9: Restoration
8: S11
7: S5
6: S9
5: S6
4: S3
3: S13
2: S8
1: S10
I feel like I was one of the only people who was actually willing to give Zero a chance before it released. I thought, yeah, it's clearly not classic RvB, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
And then...uh...yeah...we all know how that turned out.
Oh hey look its the thing im doing but substantially less insane! (I am making a tier list for every single joke in Red vs Blue)
Where is this video
Very accurate list
Dang I really love season 17. Personally, my only gripe is that it's held back by season 16. I understand in the grand scheme of all the episodes where it was placed, though. Good video, broskie.
I like to pretend season 19 takes place after season 15 cause I honestly liked it a good bit
Also, WHAT HAPPENED TO JUNIOR?! WASNT HE ALSO PART OF THE PROPHECY?!
Did Chef Rillas cook this?
After seeing the restoration season I still consider season 13 as the true ending
For me seasons 1 & 2 will always be near the top for me. Mostly due to nostalgia, partly because of how incredible rooster teeth was able to grow into what they became
Overall all the seasons would be placed in 4th, 3rd, 2nd, and 1st 😂
well i like red vs blue zero and if you agree then you can like my comment but if you dislike it that's fine any point is i love it the animation is spot on i even love the new characters i mean the team name shatter squad it is a bad ass name that's why i love it
Season 15 wasn't really a retcon because in Season 8 its revealed that everything that happened in Season 1-5 was all fabricated and based off of pre made senaros
45:10 bow chicka bow wow moment 10/10
all perfect in my opinion, except for me season 6 and 10 would switch. Also I would put restoration a bit higher
Im rewatching RvB because of this
I don’t even know where to start with you.
Oh boy! Oh boy! I wonder what’s in last place!
My favorite season is season 6 but the best is definitely 10
I dunno, I hate season 10, it is the one season that I will never rewatch in the entirety, I probably won’t rewatch most of the worst seasons (16,18) but I have made an oath to never rewatch season 10, it pissed me so off and season 11 is such a breath of fresh air from it. But that’s just my opinion
season 14, 15, and 17 being ranked lower than season 19 is honestly kinda disgusting
I haven’t watched 14 but yeah 15 and 17 are honestly much well written, I think it’s gotta be people’s nostalgia bias lifting 19 above them
Woah there internet-er !! spoilers much? i was only half way though, just really now, who who who does that these days, like just what do you think this is the 26th century? I havent even seen the latest 10 disneys from last month!
I honestly don't think Zero is that bad, but it just...
Isn't Red Vs Blue. It's another story in the RvB world at best.
It feels like a great fanmade piece. But instead it's just a mediocre at best piece of official media.
Gotta ask, how were you able to get all those renders in the tn man?
Let him cook!
IMO you put season 9 wayy too low, but still great video
56:00
10:25 SEASON 15 OVER SINGULARITY???
WDYM SINGULARITY WAS SO GOOD
Season 15 is still a really good season, it’s tough to say if it’s better than Singularity but I respect the take
13 >>>>> 17 >> restoration imo
Damn, I’d put seasons 15 and 17 above a couple other seasons (like 1, 4, 9, maybe 11, and Restoration). I think they’re honestly pretty well written. Season 15 I feel gets misunderstood and despite some tonal and pacing issues it has really consistent development among the characters. Season 17 managed to fix everything wrong with 16 and actually made it stand on its own super well.
Oh here we go xD
😘
nicee
7:49 I LUST FOR BLOOD
YOU PUT SEASON 15 OVER 14
I REQUIRE SACRAFICE
Okay i understand your reasons but that dosent make me any more pissed that you ranked season 15 above it
Technically season 19 is Family Shatters and 20 is Restoration
