      @@CasualCollisions I love this design but you totally lose me when you put one sleeve into the other. I just can't follow it. Would it turn out the same if they just lay on top of each other?

    • @CasualCollisions
      @CasualCollisions  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      No, the pattern won't line up properly on each of the sleeves due to the thickness of the material. I use the same method for folding all of the designs that are folded across the center line as it places the sleeves next to each other so the pattern properly lines up. I've made a note to make a short video to show a different view of how it's done and why. I'll try to get it posted within a week.

      I appreciate the compliment. I just found a "test" online to determine "What chess piece am I" and it suggested Bishop. So, I'm going with, "I'm the Tie Dye Bishop". Yeah... that sounds kind of odd. But, I am kind of odd. Hmmm... Maybe I should stop before I dig any deeper. ;)

    Thanks for your videos. Could you do this design using ice dye method?

    • @CasualCollisions
      @CasualCollisions  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could try to do this design with ice; but, the issue would be controlling the depth of dye saturation to maintain the pattern. There would be quite a bit of variance in the pattern because of it.

    • @CasualCollisions
      @CasualCollisions  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most jars have the proper ratios listed as it depends on the color of the dye. *Most* colors are 1 tsp dye to 4 oz of water. Most colors that contain turquoise are 1 tsp to 2 oz of water. Better Black is 1 tsp to 1 oz of water. Dharma labels the jars with asterisks to denote the correct base ratio. No asterisk = 1:4, one asterisk = 1:2, and two asterisks = 1:1.

    • @samgillentine6883
      @samgillentine6883 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Janice, I just noticed your question, if you haven't already got an answer, dharma says 1 tablespoon dye powder to 8 oz of urea water, you'll find w/ darker colors you will need more dye, up to 3 T for black.

    what's your opinion of putting the ice on the dye vs. the dye on the ice? I've seen it done both ways, but no one explains the advantages and/or disadvantages of each technique. I love your channel, thanks!

    • @CasualCollisions
      @CasualCollisions  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have better control of the dye placement if you place the dye under the ice - allow you to maintain tighter control of the dye around the tie boundaries than if you place the dye over the ice.
