    It's ironic how some of the Chinese are so abusive towards the staff, yet in their home country, they would be imprisoned for that kind of behaviour.

Some of the exotic stuff could contain germs and larvae, and it does not take a whole lot to cause infestation, or diseases and that is why there are strict regulations forbidding bringing food items into a country unless you bring them in legally through import license. Remember Covid, it came from animals. You could argue about the fine, but could you imagine if a small animal carrying the next virus came through the customs as a "little bit of food or animal' that caused another global pandemic?

    I don’t understand why people that have travelled regularly into Australia, and bring prohibited foods are not fined. That would surely stop a reoccurrence.

    • @geraldhagen2989

      The reason is VERY SIMPLE; the fine of $340 is just pocket money to these people. In Canada, the fine STARTS with $700. Sending troublemakers back soon is a common practice. Not so in beautiful Australia. The BOSSES are the problem, bunch of WEAKLINGS, too anxious to PLEASE everybody.

Yet he has very poor english skills, doesn't understand the rules and regulations(more likely just doesn't give a ****) and then even says, he doesn't understand because he doesn't work there. That gives custom officers too much power. And what happens when a custom officer doesn't like the way a passenger is dressed and sends them back for being 'rude and disruptive'?

    Here's my brilliant idea for the day: Australian gov't should inform all travelers coming from China, Indonesia, Vietnam and other East Asian countries that no food (no food period) is allowed in incoming luggage or in clothes or personal effects. There is plenty of food in Australia; they can buy it and eat it there. Food can still be imported into the country - under commercial license.

      The quality isn't as good in Australia. US have a larger Asian population so they could be import more so they have better deals than Australia who has less than 10% population of US. I saw on vlogs of Uncle Roger going to a local Asian Groceries stall in New Jersey it's massive in the states.

    • @GlitterGlamGal
      @GlitterGlamGal 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      We have enough of an opportunity to purchase asian foods here that it’s completely unnecessary for them to have so little respect for our country!! Our customs control is the reason we have such a wonderful country and the fines need to really reflect the disregard for our safety!!
