I love how in the original story Scar is a different type of villain. What we ended up with was an ambitious, cunning, intelligent and strong villain, while in this version Scar is more crazy and sees himself as a hero for the pride, hence "Be prepared for the pride's golden age".
Wow, it's crazy that they originally intended Scar to be not just his brother's murderer but a nutcase as well. They make it pretty clear in this scene that he is straight up hitting on Nala and makes no secret of the fact that that the intention there was to effectively force her into being his queen and mate against her will and of course there is the talk of heirs he makes at 2:21, he wanted her to bear cubs by him in which to advance and maintain his ill gotten rule over the Pride Rock/Lands beyond himself. This also explains why Nala had left and eventually happened upon Simba. This surely adds a whole extra level of madness to Scar's character beyond what we see in the film itself, though it's pretty obvious why this part got the axe while the film was still in the production stages.
Ok then??? I guess that description doesn't accurately describe the scene, though there's no denying that Scar was coming onto Nala quite strongly here and was attempting to force her to be his mate.

I ain't "talking shit" as you claim about his character, my comment was merely an analysis about what this scene shows as to the depth of his ruthless takeover of Pride Rock and the despair that has befallen the land as a result. Obviously it ended up ultimately being cut during production so it really had no effect upon the final film as we all know it.

Even if its crude, this scene should have stayed in the movie IMO. It shows so many aspects we could have seen in the story like Nala's refusal to continue letting Scar have his way, Zazu's devotion to the correct order, the pride's unity even against their king and even Scar's own descent into madness. Yeah, its a bit harshly toned, but are we going to act like Disney hasnt had darker scenes? The Hunchback of Notre Dame would like to have a word.

Scar's voice is actually one of the easiest I know of to replicate, at least for me. Tighten your throat backand speak low, the accent is the easier part., At least two people voiced him in the original because the first messed up his voice in be prepared, after yelling "You won't get a sniff without me!"

This could've been a great scene if included in the movie for so many reasons first of all, it would transition Scar from a murderous uncle to a mad king, allowing us to also see how the pride lands became so grey and dead-looking. It would also plant seeds of war between the lionesses and the hyenas, as well as their final betrayal. Also, making Nala more of a personal victim of Scar's madness, also explaining why she ran off to the jungle where she would meet Simba. Such a shame they deleted it.
It is a nice touch to see Nala actually being banished just as Simba was, instead of the "I ran out looking for a King despite being 100% certain you were dead." It adds more weight to the moment Simba banishes Scar in return

Jeremy Irons does Scars voice in the movie, yes. But during Be Prepared, he blew out his voice and Jim Cummings filled it for the rest of the song. Jim Cummings also did the storyboard videos like this.

@@Marille7982 Jim Cummings performs Scar's mating song to Nala, and Jeremy Irons does almost everything else. In the movie, Jeremy sings most of the song "Be Prepared", but lost his voice right before the final verse. Everything after "You won't get a sniff without me!" was performed by Jim. Strangely, this scene seems to have a third actor I don't recognize. A few of Scar's lines in the beginning (such as "I will be... immortal!") don't sound like they were spoken by Jim or Jeremy. It's like they brought in some random guy to say them. No idea what's up with that.
Christian Welch it might be the demo track? Like you can hear Howard Ashman’s demo versions of Poor Unfortunate Souls, it gives the voice actors an idea of how the songs should sound. It’s probably there as a fill in for the animators to plan around before the actual voice cast are brought in.

Aside from the part of Scar wanting Nala to be his queen, I think that this reprise of “Be Prepared” actually shows better the relation between the hyenas, the lion pride and king Scar. If Scar could’ve made his “proposition” to Simba’s mother instead (same effect, age difference eliminated), and have Nala instead sneak away to look for help, I would totally add this scene. I like it already!

DW he was originally intended to be scar's biological child, but then they realized that that would make Kovu Kiara's close cousin and disney obviously didn't want incest in their movie, so they changed it. But Kovu's character design was still as if he was a younger, better looking scar. the word kovu literally means scar in swahili.
To be honest I think Nala is the real hero of The Lion King, For one she is smarter, faster, and stronger then simba, She had to live through a tougher life due too Scar and then being banished because she rejected to be his Queen, Then finds Simba and tries to convince him to go home, and still fought off the hyenas that attacked Simba during the finsl fight. If Simbas father had not shown up he would have never gone home and the rest of his family would have died in starvation.
Even in the second movie Nala trusted Kovu before Simba did even after Simba got ambushed she trusted him. Nala had more faith in Kiara being able to hunt on her own then Simba did.
That's actually not Kiara's fault She kept telling everyone she didn't want to be treated like that and Nala was the only one who respected and trusted Kiara to do things on her own.
Lets not forget Mufasa despite being dead he still holds his title as a king who everyone had respect for Wise, Strong, Brave, Proud, humble, powerful and kind. When ever you think of The Lion King you usually think of Mufasa he even was the one to decide that Kiara and kovu should be together.

This should've been kept in the movie!!!!!!!!! It would've explained why Nala came all the way out to where Simba, Pumbaa and Timon were and it also would've shown that there actually were protests to how Scar was running things. Back in the 1990's Disney still had dark themes. I've always said that Disney films weren't always necessarily for kids. It was also for adults too. Because there are things adults can understand that kids don't.

Yeah, but Walt Disney also did not like going dark very often. Hell, originally the Jungle Book was supposed to be a lot closer to the book rather than what we got, but Walt rejected it because he thought it was too dark.
MoonGlow Simon - It is true, since many Disney movies differ quite much from the original stories they are based on. But I think that's okay. It was Disney's way conveying the stories to us. Of course some dark scenes are needed when telling an interesting and entertaining story, but why do so much of them, when you can have happy and bright moments, too? All I can imagine is that too much darkness just wasn't Walt's cup of tea, and we love his and the company's movies all the same, were they brighter or darker. :)
Amy Mathison The Lion King directors Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff stated during a Lion King 10th Anniversary Reunion discussion panel that it could be either Mufasa or Scar. Minkoff and Allers then mentioned how they'd joked about this during production, tossed around some off-color gags, and eventually decided that they just "hoped nobody would notice. Despite this "canon" claim, Nala would be related to Simba as no other males are shown int he film. Scar nor Mufasa acknowledge Nala as their daughter in the film so the mystery of who Nala's father is left up to fanfiction. I doubt though that Scar is her father. Scar was not liked and he tended to stay away from the others.
I actually think this scene would have made Nala's character even stronger than she already was. Just as it did with Belle, Jasmine, and Esmeralda. Not the part where the villains want to get with them, the part where they reject them. Especially with all but Belle turning down men of power who could do certain things to them if they turn them down and even then you could argue that Gaston was the most powerful person in the village.

I think they were nervous about the public's reaction, but I do think it strengthens Nala's character and also shows exactly why the other lionesses couldn't revolt--because Scar had hundreds of hyenas on his side. Nala didn't bring Simba back because she thought he was a super-lion who could physically overpower Scar and the hyenas, but because she thought Scar would follow the law of the jungle, so to speak, and step down if the legitimate heir was shown to be alive. (She didn't know Scar had killed Mufasa and tried to kill Simba.)
Also Nala wasn't purposefully seeking Simba. She found him by accident. Also just because it's a deleted scene doesnt mean it isn't cannon or happened. It's just deleted for either budget, time or appropriate for the audience thy wanna reach

They make it pretty clear in this scene that he is straight up hitting on Nala and makes no secret of the fact that that the intention there was to effectively force her into being his queen and mate against her will and of course there is the talk of heirs he makes at 2:21, he wanted her to bear cubs by him in which to advance and maintain his ill gotten rule over the Pride Rock/Lands beyond himself. This also explains why Nala had left and eventually happened upon Simba.
This surely adds a whole extra level of madness to Scar's character beyond what we see in the film itself, though it's pretty obvious why this part got the axe while the film was still in the production stages.
Ok then??? I guess that description doesn't accurately describe the scene, though there's no denying that Scar was coming onto Nala quite strongly here and was attempting to force her to be his mate.

Scar's voice is actually one of the easiest I know of to replicate, at least for me. Tighten your throat backand speak low, the accent is the easier part., At least two people voiced him in the original because the first messed up his voice in be prepared, after yelling "You won't get a sniff without me!"

This could've been a great scene if included in the movie for so many reasons
first of all, it would transition Scar from a murderous uncle to a mad king, allowing us to also see how the pride lands became so grey and dead-looking.
It would also plant seeds of war between the lionesses and the hyenas, as well as their final betrayal.
Also, making Nala more of a personal victim of Scar's madness, also explaining why she ran off to the jungle where she would meet Simba.
Such a shame they deleted it.

Strangely, this scene seems to have a third actor I don't recognize. A few of Scar's lines in the beginning (such as "I will be... immortal!") don't sound like they were spoken by Jim or Jeremy. It's like they brought in some random guy to say them. No idea what's up with that.

Christian Welch it might be the demo track? Like you can hear Howard Ashman’s demo versions of Poor Unfortunate Souls, it gives the voice actors an idea of how the songs should sound. It’s probably there as a fill in for the animators to plan around before the actual voice cast are brought in.

Aside from the part of Scar wanting Nala to be his queen, I think that this reprise of “Be Prepared” actually shows better the relation between the hyenas, the lion pride and king Scar. If Scar could’ve made his “proposition” to Simba’s mother instead (same effect, age difference eliminated), and have Nala instead sneak away to look for help, I would totally add this scene. I like it already!

If Simbas father had not shown up he would have never gone home and the rest of his family would have died in starvation.
Even in the second movie Nala trusted Kovu before Simba did even after Simba got ambushed she trusted him. Nala had more faith in Kiara being able to hunt on her own then Simba did.
That's actually not Kiara's fault She kept telling everyone she didn't want to be treated like that and Nala was the only one who respected and trusted Kiara to do things on her own.
Lets not forget Mufasa despite being dead he still holds his title as a king who everyone had respect for Wise, Strong, Brave, Proud, humble, powerful and kind. When ever you think of The Lion King you usually think of Mufasa he even was the one to decide that Kiara and kovu should be together.

This should've been kept in the movie!!!!!!!!! It would've explained why Nala came all the way out to where Simba, Pumbaa and Timon were and it also would've shown that there actually were protests to how Scar was running things. Back in the 1990's Disney still had dark themes. I've always said that Disney films weren't always necessarily for kids. It was also for adults too. Because there are things adults can understand that kids don't.

Yeah, but Walt Disney also did not like going dark very often. Hell, originally the Jungle Book was supposed to be a lot closer to the book rather than what we got, but Walt rejected it because he thought it was too dark.
MoonGlow Simon - It is true, since many Disney movies differ quite much from the original stories they are based on. But I think that's okay. It was Disney's way conveying the stories to us. Of course some dark scenes are needed when telling an interesting and entertaining story, but why do so much of them, when you can have happy and bright moments, too? All I can imagine is that too much darkness just wasn't Walt's cup of tea, and we love his and the company's movies all the same, were they brighter or darker. :)

Amy Mathison The Lion King directors Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff stated during a Lion King 10th Anniversary Reunion discussion panel that it could be either Mufasa or Scar. Minkoff and Allers then mentioned how they'd joked about this during production, tossed around some off-color gags, and eventually decided that they just "hoped nobody would notice. Despite this "canon" claim, Nala would be related to Simba as no other males are shown int he film. Scar nor Mufasa acknowledge Nala as their daughter in the film so the mystery of who Nala's father is left up to fanfiction. I doubt though that Scar is her father. Scar was not liked and he tended to stay away from the others.

I actually think this scene would have made Nala's character even stronger than she already was. Just as it did with Belle, Jasmine, and Esmeralda. Not the part where the villains want to get with them, the part where they reject them. Especially with all but Belle turning down men of power who could do certain things to them if they turn them down and even then you could argue that Gaston was the most powerful person in the village.
I agree. I think they were nervous about the public's reaction, but I do think it strengthens Nala's character and also shows exactly why the other lionesses couldn't revolt--because Scar had hundreds of hyenas on his side. Nala didn't bring Simba back because she thought he was a super-lion who could physically overpower Scar and the hyenas, but because she thought Scar would follow the law of the jungle, so to speak, and step down if the legitimate heir was shown to be alive. (She didn't know Scar had killed Mufasa and tried to kill Simba.)

Also Nala wasn't purposefully seeking Simba. She found him by accident. Also just because it's a deleted scene doesnt mean it isn't cannon or happened. It's just deleted for either budget, time or appropriate for the audience thy wanna reach
