So glad I found your guys videos. Other videos said I had to disassemble the entire front end to replace the fan. But I had mine done in 25 mins thanks to this. Keep up the good work guys!
Just a note, as said before if you have the 1.4 with turbo this method won't exactly work. Mine is a 2014 Cruze Eco with the turbo, took me a couple hours to figure out the clip release and another hour to get the fan assembly out. My tips: the 1.4 (at least mine) doesn't have the transmission lines over the fan, so no need (and no way to remove as they run to the front of the radiator). Before you start, remove the air filter cover and hose to get more room and remove the lower radiator hose (on the passenger side). Didn't do this on removal so it took forever to jimmy out the fan assembly (even after we broke off some of the connections on the shroud). Removed the radiator hose to install the new one and it worked very well. Also the clips on the fan assembly need to be released (pressed in) on the bottom on both sides to remove the assembly.
Great video fellas, how ever some cars are a little different, for example my 2011 cruse has the turbo and the coolant lines are on the opposite side and is NOT so easy to pop off but still comes out the same way. Plus the bottom clips on the fan after breaking 1 I noticed there’s a tab there you push in on and it allows the bottom to come up very easy.
I have found a number of the Repair Guy Videos very helpful. I replaced the fan in my 2013 Cruze LS. The tranny coolant lines did not cross over the top of the fan? They connect to the left side of the radiator and do not get in the way of fan removal. Release the wire harness from the fan and I removed part of the underbody cowling to provide clearance for tipping the right end of the fan downward as shown in the video. The only other thing I did was remove the hood support nest bracket. (one screw and I chiseled one spot weld holding the heel of the bracket to the cross member) Once these things were done, fan removal is a piece of cake. (Note: I found one other video showing the hood support bracket bent out of place to provide the necessary clearance for fan removal.)
I don't think I could ever be a mechanic. It just seems to dishonest. They wanted to charge like 600 dollars to do this. The part is less than 100 and there's no way it's even close to 5 hours of labor @ $100/hr
There are way more honest shops than dishonest. Either way your making your problem our problem. Modern cars require a lot of expensive specialty tools and equipment to repair. I just did this for one of my customers and the total bill was $306 and that was using an OEM radiator fan right from the GM Dealership. Were not all crooks ;)
Good video. The fan in my 2014 Cruze will only come on intermittently at "Turbo" speed when the AC is on. I checked fuses and relays, which look good so I think I need to change out the fan assembly. Will your procedure work on a 2014? Everything else I've read says you have to remove the bumper cover, grill, etc which seems like a major pain. Thanks.
Same exact car with the same exact issue. Have you found an easy way of replacing the assembly yet? Or at least detailed instructions or video showing the other tasks? The Cruze has been nothing but a pain, constantly needs maintenance.
I tried to test the fan like you guys did at the end but it didn't spin but I also tested a new one and it still didn't spin could I of done something ?
This video is informative, but my 2014 Cruze 1.4L automatic doesn't have the transmission lines running across the top. The restriction is the AC hoses entering the AC compressor. How do I get the fan out with this configuration.
you can do it on this one because is not Turbo , on the turbo car there is no way you will get it out like this but for this model is very well explained nice video , God bless
Hello. On my 2010 Cruze car, the "Cizzz" sound is heard when I steer right or left. Also, when I press the gas in my car, there is a liqueur water sound. There is no water or oil reduction in my vehicle. No heat. Do you have any suggestions?
Same here. I took the bottom cover of under the radiator and I can see a little plastic lever on the bottom passengers side but I can't seem to get the shroud to move enough out of it
I ended up seeing that there is a clip on the driver's side bottom as well. I had to remove the clip holding the two trans lines close together so I could move them out of the way and I had to get a long (24 inch) pry bar to get the bottom fan clip to come undone
hello good morning I need your help I have a chevy cruze lt 2014 engine 1.4, I changed the water pump, the thermostat and the part where the temperature sensor is and my car is still heating could help me give me one more option please
didn't bleed the system properly I'm guessing. look up the bleeding procedure. there's a plug in the top corner of the rad that needs to be removed before filling.
The reason it costs so much money at the shop is because your car does not have the same bits and pieces in the way. My car is a 1.4L turbo and yours does not appear to be. There is no room to access the bottom right clip with the turbo air piping in the way.
Not to mention you don’t physically have the room to get it out with the cold air piping and radiator hose. Might want to mention that this job can only be done this way on the 1.8L. Not the 1.4L as you claim.

Awesome and detailed video. I am doing this on 2012 Cruze right now. Your video helped me greatly. Thank you guys.
Wow I need to do this today too I should.. no ac 1 speed for me but over heat fan comes on
Thank you, your skills helped me change the cooling fan.
Thank you for helping me with my car.
do you have to add some transmission oil after the procedure?
Nice bro, Thank you👍 Hello from Russia, your video more understant than video in to russian

Thats a discount, a dealership would've charged more than 1 grand. 600 dollars is not much of a profit.
This part cost me 200 I assume you got a aftermarket one always go for the full lifetime warranty
When your are getting your car professionally worked on, you are paying for the shop/mechanic costs . Not just the parts & labor
Is it possible to remove just resistor pack from the fan without removing the whole fan?
I have a question do I need to bye the whole piece oh can I only buy the fan and just replace it back into the plastic mold.
What about 1.4 engine in a 2013 Cruz

I have the same problem.
I found a video by tapped out auto that shows what to do, sorta, in this situation.
Sameeee
How do you check/test the fan ?
Been working on one clap for 2 hours
Yeah I can't figure it the stupid clips
At 8:06 to 8:10 that is that senor on the core support behind his hand?
you can do it on this one because is not Turbo , on the turbo car there is no way you will get it out like this but for this model is very well explained nice video , God bless
What about answering some of these questions.
Can I get a link to what tools you are using?

Cool... brother!!!
The clips are giving me such a hard time. Any suggestions on how to remove these?

Your fan resistor is burnt up.
Or as stated above...you didn't properly bleed the air out you cooling system
Thanks
Good job
Lol these videos make it look so easy but every time try and go and fix something there’s always some problem nothings easy or everyone would do it
Hello guys! I need your help please

This is definitely not for a 2017 model

Drinking game!!! Drink every time he says "guys".
I don’t even know why these clowns say the Cruze and the sonic are similar no it’s not it’s nowhere near the same thing.
They charged me 1800 for this
Took about 5mins to disconnect the fan harness. Working with a watch n a ring on your hand is unprofessional. Won't be subscribing....
really....common sense is way more important than wearing a watch on your hand.
But, no disco disco?
Next time be careful, remember it is forbidden to wear jewelry at work. It is a bad example!
