    I NEED to hear Wetton's bass track isolated. That was nuts. In my opinion he was one of the best bassists of all time.

      But nothing compares to Lake's Vocals. At least on the studio version.. however I would say that Boz's vocals (specifically the Earthbound album) is also on par when he sings Schizoid Man.

    I like that with Wetton's more strained-sounding voice there is no need for him to use distortion when singing this. Although it doesn't top the original for me.

    4:05 absolute killer masterpiece. Better than the original.
    Wetton and Bruford are dangerously powerful together.
    There's nothing like them in the whole Prog scene.
    Other bass players or drummers are more "jazz" orienteered.
    These 2 lads can make everyone love the "virtuoso"
    Is there a need to mention Fripp?

    This version of the song feels like jumping from the peak of K2 into a swimming pool of warm marshmallow fluff and cranberry sauce. I also recall jamming the CD for this live record in my dog's newly carved abdomen, and it wouldn't play. 10/10 classicccc.

    I used to have the vinyl version of the album USA where this song was included. I bought it back in 1976 if I remember correctly. We were a group of friends that used to play full album on the Saturday afternoons in my room, to get motivated before going out at night...we knew we were not going to hear anything like this once we would get to the Disco.

    That jam is what I think and feel when someone or I utter the words "King Crimson". That wetton-bruford connection is tight as hell. Even the out of tune violin provides something special. Don't wanna be mean, but cross was not that good on the violin, he'd contribute pretty on the mello or other piano stuff, I'd have Jamie Muir doing his weird stuff instead.

    • @edo7382
      @edo7382 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nah David Cross is actually really good on the violin. The problem is that most of the songs don’t really get along with the violin, but that’s what makes them special

    • @nickgodalin6487
      @nickgodalin6487 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, Cross' violin was not tuned properly before and during too many performances. It seems to have been a chronic problem for his contributions.

    This is legit my favorite song of all time, only tied to Epitaph. I read they're about the Vietnam and Cold War. The _seemingly_ unrelated lyrics and chaotic sounds displays what it feels to have schizophrenia. Bravo.

      I think what Schizoid Man is about is how in a world with crazy wars like Vietnam and stuff going on, it could lead to a future (21st century) where people try to avoid that stuff by isolating themselves and not interacting with others, such as someone with Schizoid Personality Disorder, a disorder similar in name to schizophrenia, but different in that what it mostly does is make someone with it uninterested in social relationships. That’s just my interpretation though. Also, I like your pfp and name

    Went to see crimso live, about 2 years ago, and it was the opposite of this, no raw stuff, everything calculated perfectly, they played a collection of "hit" songs to cater the old fart audience. I paid for good tickets and left really disappointed. It was a good show nevertheless, everything was great, jakko is a great guitar player, but I think he doesn't understand how crimson vocal melodies work, it's pretty much soulless. He's a great singer, just not fit for crimso, lake, boz,wetton and belew understood it, not this guy. Sucks all the energy.
