Bruford and Wetton locked together in complete unison during the groove, accenting the same notes, in an improv, is one of the eeriest things I've ever heard. Has to be either ESP or black magic. With King Crimson, either is possible.
It is their ability to create amazing music like this in an instant as with this example that sets this particular group of musicians from anyone else I have ever heard. A special group this was. Funny it only lasted 2 years.
This track, at 9:14, is actually an excised edit of the "real" improvisation as it was performed live in real time in front of the assembled audience in Amsterdam {I'm assuming that, complete, technically it would be called track>>Improv: Amsterdam (November 23, 1973)}. This original unedited improv most likely could have run into the 13-14 minute zone, as many (but certainly not all) improvs from this tour lasted that length of time.
The dark and intricate atmospheres of King Crimson.

My favorite duo in prog rock, they make some of most insane rythm sections of that period
