The large gear doesn't need to be 360 degrees, it looks like 180 would be enough. Meaning you could cut down the main gear to save around 1/3 of it's weight leaving enough beef to strength. Something to push a bit back off would also help, but might cause issues when flipped so needs to thoughts.
Yeah, there's some weight they can shed off the big gear. Even by making larger wholes in it (without affecting structure, of course) and like you said, cutting out parts that are never used in the rotation.
@ There was Kraken, but then they turned into an hammersaw. l’ve also seen people call Overhaul a crusher due to the power of its jaw, but I find that pretty dubious. There used to be a couple Beetleweight crushers, but I think they’re all retired now.
New year, New time for crushers to get back in the meta. With all the circumstances with TPU being the king of chassis making. It’s finally time for crushers to come back. The bot is so cool and I hope it preforms well next year.
To unstick “quickly”: Possibly having a quick-clamp nearby so that with the crusher down you can clamp the opponent to the forks. Then run the crusher open, theoretically pulling the tooth out of the opponent.
I've wanted to build something like this for so long lol. Of course right as I'm digging through the spare parts bin (as one does on a holiday) this notification appears. Edit: After watching I have some thoughts. 1. A worm drive may be able to reduce weight considerably. I figure that even if that large gear is aluminum, it has some significant mass. A worm gearbox should be able to achieve similar reduction in a smaller and lighter package. This would also likely mean moving over to a dc motor instead of a servo, and there are some very high reduction small motors out there if the worm isn't enough. 22.125 ft-lbs is absolutely nuts in this weight class. That robot could probably pick up my 30lb machine with how short the lever arm is. 2. Having some upper bars you can retract the point behind should allow you to release bots. The current set up is going to attract a lot of unsticks or pin time penalties. These could be built into the bottom forks by making them a V or A shape. Unfortunately all the weight you save from the gearbox will probably just end up here. This should also make lipo disposal easier as you can hopefully drop it. 3. Your forks look way overkill. You could probably find some weight by cutting them to half the height. The spike won't go into the floor if it reaches all the way through, it will just lift your front end up. It may also be easier to wiggle them under an opponent if they are shorter.
You could probably shave some weight by cutting away the perimeter of the crushing gear in the area where the tooth overlaps it. That section doesn't engage the gear teeth so at the very least doesn't need teeth. You might also be able to mill the face of that gear thinner without giving up much stiffness. Is probably a better way to (literally) shave it's weight than trying to make larger through holes.
Can it self-right? It looks like it would be okay if flipped onto its back, but might struggle if it were flipped onto either side, with one wheel in the air. Razer needed those "wings", which would add weight and complexity...
Because like there grown counterparts, they meet a early tombstone. One hex from the witchdoctor, and it's endgame to the winner. And yes those puns were on purpose.
I've thought about making something like this, but I've had concerns about ensuring the servo has enough travel to get the arm to have a full range of motion. On that note, have you thought about using a worm gear so a smaller, lighter driven gear can be used?
hold the pinned bot with a flat shovel then have your bot lift the blade out. Should pull them apart easily if the battery is going up in flames without having to get too close to them.
Hi guys. This question is probably out of place but just just have to ask..... What is going on with Battlebots? Is there any chance for the show to be on again?? Can we write letters or something?
Hey Zach! Many months ago I wrote you a message on Facebook about the 1lbs crusher I'm building. I'd love to chat with you about it and hear your thoughts.
I've wanted to build a crusher bot for YEARS.......but I know nothing about robotics, engineering, or electrical. (My background is in art and breaking things)
They should add something like a rectangle so when the crusher goes back up it pushes the bot down that way it doesn’t get stuck on the tooth

Hell yeah! Bout time we got another good crusher!
Yes a new good crush for 2025
Have any American team ever made a competent crusher ? I know there were about 5/6 from the UK

Overhaul is can of a grabber and kraken I thing the crusher is a bet better and if kraken just have a rigth timeing in the attck
Last video I watch this year and I can leave it saying I was satisfied
"And I don't want to sacrifice a brand new battery"
"I'll get you a new one in 5 years"
is how that should have gone lol

This robot is a machine that turns lipos into fires.
I had been thinking about this idea for a while, but its nice to see a new approach to it. I was thinking a worm gear, but this is way better.
This makes the Razer fanboy within me very happy. 😊
Great video! Love a good crusher! Cute kitty 😻

Couple of bumpers to unhook hooked stuff on the back drive?

Very cool. Surprising there aren't more electric crushers in the lower weight classes, honestly.
Because like there grown counterparts, they meet a early tombstone. One hex from the witchdoctor, and it's endgame to the winner. And yes those puns were on purpose.
Oh, dude!
Jack White from the White Stripes builds battle 'bots!
Schweet!
What is that PCB usedm that seems like an all in one ESC, receiver etc?
I was thinking the wedges are a bit too high. Wondering if they can get under some of those bots!
Parts list?
Brutal, make sure you guys harden those screws on the crusher gear itself, i can see those getting ripped out by a drum spinner or something.
Are there rules for unstick tools? inserting some metal wedge on top of the crusher to use its own power unstick it self.

Love it !!, that tiny thing puts out 265 lbs of force… daym, no way it’s gonna be 1lb it’s gonna have to compete as a 3 lb bot
What servo is it?
try to penetrate the battery, and its an instant victory!
Hi guys. This question is probably out of place but just just have to ask.....

She should be called “Stabatha”
Ah, the Canadian episode

Who wound win paintrain vs starchilde and starchild vs sharkoprion 2018
I’m making something like this sometime
I've wanted to build a crusher bot for YEARS.......but I know nothing about robotics, engineering, or electrical. (My background is in art and breaking things)
Its name : I'm Sorry
Something something crushers getting pwnd these days. something something.
If you don't have the appropriate PPE don't do it!! Other than that v cool looking robot.
L'absence de soutitrage en français est regrettable dommage
How much are you willing to to sell it for? Or build another one! I would love to have one.
Waiting for faceoffs like. 😴
Question who would win skarko vs aegis a and if you have time slammow vs starchilde
Question axoloto vs atom94
Sharko vs argis and probly axolot vs atom94 and starchild vs pain train
Or sharko vs argis and axolto vs atom94
Jager vs parden my france
Or trace vs parden my france
