- Fine arts photographer Eugene Tapahe’s idea for “Art Heals: The Jingle Dress Project” came to him in a dream. Legend has it the jingle dance originated from an Ojibwe man who dreamt of its healing power during the Spanish Flu. Now, Eugene travels the west photographing his daughters and friends in National Parks and Monuments as a way to reclaim indigenous spaces and bring healing to the world. pbsutah.org/this-is-utah

This made me tear up and cry. Greetings from germany. Only youtube made me see more about the native people in america. I really like to listen to the sound of jingle dresses now :3. It is truly healing. If you feel like the old knowledge is lost, rest assured, this knowledge is deep within you, because your ancestors are always with you and if you listen to them, they will guide you on the right path.

It's great to see our Indigenous brothers and sisters being seen and heard in such a beautiful way, as we stand together and reclaim our heritage and bring healing to the land.

Proud Odowa Ojibwe on my fathers side and Kickapoo on my mothers side though I'm not full blooded, though I am adopted like my indigenous mother was. I hope to learn what I can from my finding of my indigenous heritage going back to my my great-great grandparents on both sides. My hope is to teach my children despite being a mix of nationalities, the major percentiles I want them to learn about and appreciate their ancestors and try to keep the culture in some ways alive and be proud of the culture identity and especially their indigenous identity.
