    Thanks! It took me 3 month to find out the processes you showed. Great, clear and simple way of demonstrating.

      I ran into this at least twice before I figured out what was happening. I'm always happy to pass along hard won knowledge, if it helps someone else out of having to do a hard reset.

    A very good video, no annoying music. I personally like the "portable solid state radio" dial with the green pointer. Your video explainend some matters which I was not aware of. 73!

    Your presentation was very clear .. I'm looking to purchase the 7300 and your TH-cam supported my feeling this radio is the ideal radio ... Thanks

      +Tom Small, thanks for the support. I decided on the IC-7300 after spending a few hours with it, the TS-480 and the FT-991, at HRO in Plano. If you have an HRO, or some other ham radio store nearby, maybe you can do the same. In my opinion, however, I think you will find that the IC-7300 is one of the best values in amateur radio. 73 de KD5TKR

    Quickie notes for setting band edges. To set band edges must be in the center mode and press and hold Expand/Set. The menu comes up and select Fixed Edges option. Then select the band range you want to change.
    Pick the one of the three current ranges you want to change and the number pad will come up. The display will set on the low end of that range and you can dial in a new frequency. You can then go to the upper frequency and change it also. Hit enter when you're done

      Doing that then the frequency you are monitoring and if you look at scope marker is not centered, it’s annoying

    I realize this video is over two years old, but one quick comment... In my 7300, I do *_NOT_* need to be in _"Center"_ to get to the _"Fixed Edges"_ menu. Perhaps I have a later firmware. Mine is 1.21.

    Nice concise video. Can you let us know what settings you are using for the spectrum display? I like the black fill.

    I want to change one of the 6 meter fixed band edges from 50.00-51.00 to 50.00-54.00, but it won't let me. Will it only let you go narrower, as opposed to broader?

    How can i set band edges completely outside a Ham band. The AM broadcast band for instance ... just below 160 meters.

    I Cannot "See" past 29MHz on my new IC-7300. I have tried to set the band edges but all I can type in is 29MHz. The range shown on the "Fixed Edges" shows 26-30. Any ideas on how to get it higher? I am losing 700KHz.

    How, if possible, do you view your own TX on the waterfall?

  • @frankjohnson7204

    Firstly, many thanks, excellent video.
    Your setting for "CENT" mode is set to "Filter Center". This is quite confusing as it makes the dial frequency incorrect whilst in "CENT" mode. (The dial frequency displays the centre of the TX pass-band). You would actually be 1.5kHz off frequency.
    The dial frequency should represent the frequency of the suppressed carrier.
    (At all times IMHO)
    I would recommend that "Center Type Display" be set to "Carrier Point Center (Abs. Freq)" so that the dial frequency is correct at all times.
    Once done, your monitored signal will be to the left (LSB) or right (USB) of centre. Not as pretty but at least dial the frequency is now correct.

    So question for you about the band stop/edges. This does not effect me because I am an extra class. My question is, could this be setup to stop at the General band frequencies, so that you are not transmitting into the Extra class bands?

    • @andyschneider3431
      @andyschneider3431 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michael Mullins it doesn’t “stop” that’s still up to the operator to know where they can be but it does limit what the scope shows. I’m a General and have mine already set up that way.

    is it possible to set the full 50-54mhz on 6m?

    • @jimyohe100
      @jimyohe100 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a great question. I just tried to do it and it wouldn't change when I tried changing the 51Mhz to 54Mhz.

    • @Mo_feezy
      @Mo_feezy 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jimyohe100 I emailed Icom and this is their reply: "Thank you for contacting Icom America.
      The IC-7300 scope does not have enough BW to display the entire six meter band in fixed mode. When it is set to center mode page 5-3 the marker freq. will be the feq. displayed and the scope will track up and down the complete band with the displayed frequency. This is the way the radio was designed and we have no information if any update will change it. Updates just appear when released with no prior notice."
      So it looks like it's just a lack of the bandwidth to be able to show all 4 mhz at once. Still doesn't explain why I can't set the band edges like you said. But oh well.

    just a suggestion.......you should always at the start of your video's, tell people what version of software your using .......
    i am usind soft ware 1.14.... and i can not get my scope to display the waterfall, like yours does, also, i do not see or hear any difference in my receiver when using the iP+ FUNCTION ... what say you on these itms ???

    • @BootstrapWorkbench
      @BootstrapWorkbench  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you having issues with the waterfall on transmit or receive? I believe that IP+ isn't going to make much of a difference in most situations.

      Jimi, Are you holding the MSCOPE button down for 1-2 secs before releasing it? That’s the method employed to get the full waterfall on fullscreen. I’m running version 1.14 and I’m having no issues. Hope this helps.

      I am using 1.14 and have no problems showing the waterfall. All firmwares are the same in this respect.
