I stumbled across your channel when I got my MFT3 and was looking for a good set up guide, yours was brilliant. After subscribing, I started watching your other videos and I must say you are excellent at explaining things in a clear and understandable way. I've no intention of buying an Incra LS,but I watched all 4 set up videos because you make them so enjoyable. Keep up the good work Andy, you are an inspiration.
Hi Andy just been going through your Incra positioner videos again to get my head a bit more around the set up etc, as I mentioned before I have the Leigh dovetail unit but I was really interested in how I could also use the positioner, so I ended up purchasing the 450 mm unit, as I also found out from one of your subscribers that he had also purchased the unit and used it with the MFT/3 table. He had purchased from Precision Dogs the adapter that you mentioned and it worked. Cost of the precision adapter and plate where reasonable but the delivery charge is what hits you especially with the Australian Dollar the way it is. I purchased the positioner here in Australia but had to purchase the adapter from the States. I have found once you set it up it works great and does not have to be re calibrated as that was my biggest issue so I was pleasantly surprised. As I also have the Festool clip on CMS-OF router table I can set the positioner up anywhere on the MFT-3 table which will allow me to use it as you do on the track saw and the router but I wanted more as I also have a Bosch GTS 10 Pro table saw which I also wanted to be able to use with the positioner. So what I plan to do is to get ride of the legs on the MFT and the CMS and build a cabinet under them as I already have these units together on a flat base with wheels for portability. So I will also be making a cabinet that will also be on wheels and have it able to be attached to the other end so Router one end and bench saw the other and again I can just turn the positioner around to use it for all three items. As my area is even smaller than yours I need to be able to have them all portable and with the cabinets underneath this will also give me storage for my Festool Vac and I can also incorporate a sealed dust box under the router to attach to the vac for getting rid of the dust. Also with the unit under the table saw I will be able to store the Leigh dovetail jig in it and swap the table saw and jig around and use this area as a top for both these unit as when one is in use the other can be stored in the cabinet below. I can also make a top up to sit on this area that the table saw sits on and incorporate the 20mm holes to take the precision adapter so I can get longer cuts with the track saw. so for what its worth this would not have happened without being subscribed to your channel showing us hour to use the positioner on the MFT so thanks again Regards Kim.
+Kim Dalzell Hi Kim, Sounds exciting. I love it when people share the plans for the workshop. I am going to go down a similar approach in terms of the mobile base for the MFT/CMS to sit on. In my case I will have three modules. 2 xMFT and 1xCMS. Each will be independent so I can configure them in multiple ways. I think I will stick with the Incra on the crown stop rather than buying the plate. But will be upgrading the way I have connected the Incra to the crown stop. It is currently still clamped. Each unit as per your comments will have storage cupboards underneath. The overall design will be. ‘T’ shape (when viewed from the front) so to top will be wider than the base - so when the units are connected together the tops will be a continuos run but there will be a gap between the bases. This will allow for side mounted lift type wheels for stability as well as a gap for the CMS to live. The front of the unit will be flush with no handles to allow for clamping of large flat panels. I am also thinking of trying to fit in a leg vice in some way, to allow for quick hand tool usage. The design in my head is conceptual at the moment - so need to work it up a bit. I agree make the run as long as possible, not just for long track saw cutis, just for practicality. The OAK for the coffee table Will be arriving soon, these will be 3M lengths. So the ability to lie this across the bench to “get to know” the wood and then cross cut to rough component length before leaving it to climatise in the store is brilliant. Talk soon Andy

Thanks for the comparison! A couple years back I got the Incra LS25 for most of the reasons you give. I've been disappointed by the stock thickness issue so much that I would rather do through dove tails by hand. But it does so many other things so easily! So, I've considered adding the Leigh D4R. It only does one thing, make joints, but it does it so easily!
+Tracy Farthing Hi Tracy, Yes that’s the one thing that annoys me about the Incra, I have just taken delivery of the new jointer/thicknesser so will give the through dovetails another go and make a video about it. Incra's LS Super system (wonder fence package ) is the 'Gold' standard of fences . Just added Jessem clear cut TS . With the addition of JUST a 3/4 w x 3/8 h t track (and a change in the anchors on each hold down ) stock control in joining , shaping is simple . The Jessem units are not in the way of any adjustments . (the units can then be slid off the wonder fence and slid onto an aluminum extrusion saw fence (like VSCoolTool's or home made) with no reconfiguration in about 30 sec.)

Hi Km I have the Incra with the MFT and the CMS VL extension table and it works very well. Not quite sure what you mean re the Kapex table. One thing I would advise and that is to get the specially made plate that joins the Incra to the MFT its brilliant and fits perfectly and square. Its made in the USA (Los Angeles). precisiondogs.us/products/precision-plate It was recommended by Incra themselves. Regards Brian (UK)

Hi Kim from Australia here I was very interested in the set up for the incra system on the MFT 3 and also the CMS.I have the MFT 3 plus the clip on version of the CMS with the router, is there a chance if I purchase the FESTOOL SMALL MULTI FUNCTION WORKBENCH MFT/KAPEX. #495465 and use the 581 mm width is the Incra long enough to work.? Or could I cut the bench down to make it work? If I get the bracket and instal it on the MFT 3, problem is I could not find no etc of bracket on your link.
Does the incra come with a bracket that works on the MFT,
Hope you can help or give me some suggestions of what I can do as I would really love to get the incra unit and add it to my tools.
Stumbled onto your channel a couple of days ago and love the content very interesting and very in formative.
Thanks Kim Dalzell
Hi Km
I have the Incra with the MFT and the CMS VL extension table and it works very well.
Hi Brian, The Kapex stand is a bench used for the Festool Kapex 120 saw unit, what you have shown me re the bracket is the answer to my query thanks for that it sounds like just what I need well done, appreciate the reply Regards Kim
@@kimdalzell3316 Glad it helped Kim. I have just purchased the KS 120 but I am going to build my own table for that. I only have a small workshop and the MFT takes up a fair amount of the space. The Incra system has removed the need for the Festool router fence so will have to try and sell it. Hope you have better luck with the plate if you get it mine arrived in London then was miss sorted next thing I was told it had arrived in Sydney!!! So had a fair wait for it.
