Totk is much better if you play both back to back for what they are but at their respective time when they came out botw was revolutionary for the series and Totk felt like a safe sequel that didn’t really improve much upon the flaws of botw such as memories and dungeons.
Botw held totk back in a way.The Zelda team seemed afraid of change once again

Breath of the wild is not just one of the best Zelda games, it's one of the best switch games. You can plan to play the game for an hour or two and end up playing all night. It was a great experience.
