I'm backpacking that same trail in a few weeks. Was this before Hurricane Helene came through? I was hoping to see Dinky Line in your video. There is not a lot of information regarding that bc site or that part of the trail. Thanks!!
@@jessicajennings4773 Jessica! That’s going to be awesome! Yes, this was 1 week before the Hurricane. The streams are likely flowing now! And interesting you ask about Dinky Line because I cut that out of the edit. Wasn’t interesting enough from a content perspective. But, I can assure you, it’s a great site! You’ll be tucked in up there near the plateau. Around the 7:11 mark of my video is where you’ll be. It’s right past that overgrown section, maybe another 1/2 mile max and the sites will be to your left. They are super nice back there! There are 3 or 4 sites and all have handmade fire pits with good flat sports for tents. Hope this helps! 🏕️
@JamieMcCracken thank you so much for responding. That is super helpful. I'm going with 2 other ladies, each in our own tents. I like to search TH-cam and the internet to see the sites before I go out. My concern is not finding a site that can fit 3 tents. Water is another concern. I have found mixed information about the closest water source. I can pack in all my water but don't want to if I don't need to.
@@jessicajennings4773 This is why I create these videos! Have a look at my Smokies trip last year. Very detailed with camp spots, water, etc. Don't always hit everything in each video haha ... Do not be concerned with space! All 3 of you will be able to fit at any of the sites at Dinky ... might be a tad tight but I'm confident you should be fine! Water wise, that's tough. As you could see everything was bone dry with the exception of the 2nd swinging bridge crossing. I would say most of the creeks now have some flowing water but maybe call the rangers and see if they could let you know ahead of time. Would stink if you have to carry in a lot of water for your stay instead of being able to filter and be a little lighter. I will say once you're at Dinky, you likely won't have any water until you get off the north rim and plateau. Hope this helps!😊
@JamieMcCracken yes that is all extremely helpful, thank you very much! A call to the Ranger is on my list before heading out. Packing my fears is water for sure!
