Very good series. How about one episode on DIY. Explaining (how to) hosts, drivers, circuits, pills, etc. And another on the different technologies such as xml, xml2, xre, t6, etc. And also on different uses, such as which is good for inspection, tactical, search, camping, edc, etc. Thanks again.

Those are some good ideas, especially as things have changed since I first did these. I'll see if I can find some time to at least talk about new emitters and such.

Thanks, very nice series. I have a question: which part of the reflector is mostly responsible for creating a tight hotspot? I have a thrower with a deep SMO reflector that has some blotches and damages on the area directly around the LED ... is the INNER or OUTER part of the reflector more important for throw?

I would say the inner part of the reflector is most important for how the hotspot will "look" (i.e., whether there are color distortions, beam distortions, edge effects,, centre effects, etc). The overall size of the reflector controls more of the peak intensity output of that hotspot.

How would you get rid of the spill beam??

Good evening Sir, im looking for tactical flashlight lens that make more focusing and brighter than normal lens. 5050 led 400lm need to make 100 metre distance 15degree.Thanks in advance.

I'd like to purchase the first flashlight, any chance you can share the model number? I need a well collimated beam with a large area source of about 2.5 inches diameter.

+DCUPtoejuice oh i see you posted it Thrunite TN31. I want that size parabolic, but don't need the intensity, trying to find much cheaper option and want very good collimation - perhaps best to have adjustable?

+DCUPtoejuice I suppose my best bet is to put a very large parabolic reflector like the one on the Thrunite TN31 onto a small source. Do you know know of any combinations that would be easily workable?

+DCUPtoejuice Not really. Adjustable options done through optics, and produce a very different beam profile. You could probably find a more budget version of the TN31, but I am not familiar offhand with what is out there.
