You've presented me with a problem. This is one of the few things I don't want spoilers on, but I want to support you and Jessie. Guess I'll be playing this on silent while I read my book 😹
I love the after-credits scene where I show up and say “I am Voltigeuse, and I am here to talk to you about the Identiteaze Initiative” Seriously though, I am so happy for Jessie and can hardly wait to see the film. And i think it’s great that you reviewed it! The collaborations between you two are some of my favorite media, and have gotten me through joys and challenges alike.
Honestly, glad that you’re reviewing it, and without spoilers, because I hadn’t had the opportunity to watch it yet (hopefully tomorrow, maybe), and I wanted to know the vibes of the movie. I don’t doubt that it will be good, I have faith in Jessie :) Also, I subscribed to nebula mostly because of this movie lol I knew about it from years ago, but I misunderstood how it worked and thought that you had to pay for every channel you followed, I’m silly like that sometimes xD
The Teaze was worth it. 😂 Seriously though, I loved this movie. I’m a sucker for experimental films like this, and I hope it leads to more. It also inspired me to keep going with my passion project. I wanna watch this again to catch more things this time. And to hear your part again. 😅🩷🩷🩷
I am waiting impatiently to have the funds for a Nebula subscription specifically bc I want to watch Identiteaze. Between your review and what Jessie’s said about it, it’s very much my type of story.
While I appreciate the disclosures (even if I knew some of what's in there, it's good to be upfront about it), I am also glad you still went ahead with this review. I'm not sure how much coverage this film will get on that front, and you are one of the people I'd expect to touch on something like this if you didn't have a direct connection, so it's good to get your opinion, and I am quite confident you'll be (were) honest in it (I don't think Jessie would be the happiest with you if you just spoke glowingly without giving your honest feelings and feedback). I also appreciate the effort to avoid being too spoiler-y - as I said, not sure how much attention this'll get from other reviewers, so hearing honest opinions that don't ruin the story is nice for me. I have been intending to get Nebula for a while (even if just for a short period) because of projects like this and The Prince and Patrick Willems' specials and some Nebula-exclusive content from people I like, it's just...well, finances don't always work out, I suppose, so I am trying to make sure timing works out the best it can (reasonable amounts of free time to enjoy those things, too), at the least. Out of all of them, this is definitely the project that makes me most interested, at least. Oh, and nice to see your name between Jasika Nicole and John De Lancie on that poster. Congrats!
Lol, watched this first, will watch the movie soon. Know you’re super good about keeping things spoiler free when necessary, but also was dying to see your reaction, couldn’t wait ;) Well worth it, thx for the giggles!
I got nebula just to watch this! There's a lot that can be done with this universe and concept, I'd like it to be a self contained 2 hours film instead of a short film but since theres so much potential I'm happy with we got.
The biggest criticism i have with identiteaze, is that i feel it would have been better as a 90 minute film, rather then a 45 minute one, there were a few things that really needed more focus on, and a few parts that i felt were a little meandering and needed to be cut down a little (the dance party comes to mind) in order to further the plot, but on the whole, i loved it, I just wish there was more of it
I very much enjoyed it. The background information for Anthony, Steve, and VAL are all things I look forward to seeing expanded on in further works. (I really hope that Jessie gets to make them). The standout performance for me was Maggie Mae Fish, although I did like Jasika Nicole as well.
I totally agree that the first segment is the least well executed. I also agree it wasn't bad at all. For me... it was that the characters in that segment pivot their way thru a series of different reactions (to the environment and circumstance as well as each other) in a way that was just a bit too quick for me. It undermined the weight of any of those reactions as a result of not sitting in any of them long enough. That comes down to script and pacing from the direction and editing. It felt to me like it just needed to let the characters sit in their reactions longer and more deeply a little as they progressed thru their understanding of what was going on around and between them. Once we leave that sequence, I felt like the script and directing sat in the characters and performances more fully. I also agree that the antagonist is overdeveloped for what is here. Or... underdeveloped. What we get from him in the script is either a little too much for the narrative we are receiving or not quite enough to reorient the narrative centering him a bit more equally with the protagonists. I am on board with either recalibration potentially, I just either needed more or less of him depending on what shape this narrative is going to take. I also agree that Jasika Nicole gives the standout performance. All due respect to all of the other actors who - again, I agree - all give solid performances, she simply manages to go above and beyond what's on the page to a degree that hit me more than anyone else in the film. I left the film feeling like "I really want to see more of some parts of this and other parts needed to be allowed to breathe more to facilitate me wanting more, but the ideas here and the visuals here combined with the performances make this worth seeing." I felt, ultimately, the weakest element was the script in some places and the direction of the first segment. That said, being the weakest part of a worthwhile thing isn't a majorly bad thing. If it were a meal, I would say "I'd like to go back and have that meal again with a few adjustments to certain parts of the dish, but all of it was worth getting to have taken in."
I absolutely loved it! Though I definitely want more 😊 And *of course* you’re my favorite (don’t tell the rest of the cast!) 😉 And fwiw to anyone considering getting Nebula… even on my limited budget, I found the $30/year (which amounts to $2.50/month) absolutely worth it, just to have access to Lindsay Ellis, and all the original material from Jessie and Abi Thorne, plus enough other stuff that even without daily watching it’s a bargain. Abi’s new film Dracula’s Ex-Girlfriend is coming up soon, too!
As non binary myself I just need to say that I never have Identified myself so much in a movie, It was a really emotional experience and It brought me to tears, my only critic Is that I want more and need this universe expanded.
I started to watch this, but I actually want to see the movie, I might even end up getting Nebula for a bit because of it... I started to watch your review, but yeah, gonna bow out for now, be back later if I remember afterward, might get to see it this weekend if not too busy.
I thought the movie was great - I only have one silly problem with it which is not really the movies fault - now every time a video by Maggie Mae Fish I can't think of anything else except how good she is a delivering F-bombs
I absolutely loved this movie, though I would agree with the criticisms. Personally, my only issue with the movie is that it's too short!
I enjoyed Identiteaze! Definitely stronger when viewed as a pilot - and I hope Jessie gets to see its continuation come to fruition.
You and Jessie are literally 2 of my favourite creators on TH-cam. Incredible to see how this came together and appreciated your honest comments

Same boat. Haven't watched the movie so want to avoid spoilers but want to support the review.
@@christineherrmann205 it's a no spoilers review :)
It was nice hearing your voice during the film.
I enjoyed it and I sincerely hope Jessie will be able to make a series or some sequels.

Oooh that’s why I didn’t see you there! I saw your credit at the film‘s IMDB page and I searched the movie all over!
I am very glad I stayed around for the credits. Watched this before you review.
Commenting for ENGAGEMENT for when I have time to watch movie then this review!
“Cuz I’m me!” 😂
Engagement for the engagement god!

What a fun review! Hope we can get more like this (with you actually being in the movie)
The Nebula subscription for this movie was worth it. Jessie did well.
I loved the movie too! I recognized your voice too! I’m looking forward to seeing what is next in the story…great characters!💙

Plus princess weekes
@@glitch84- Yes!!
I really loved the film. The slightly surreal genre it fits in is right up my street.
I didn't realize Jasika Nicole was in this until very recently - she was great in Fringe.
I can't wait to see this!!!
Thank you for letting me know about the post credit scene. I’ll have to go and watch it again!
Just for support. Going to subscribe to Nebula for you both, and hopes it develops into a series.
