One question: The built-in microphones of my new pocket 2 are at least two times louder in selfie-recording than the external microphone attached near my mouth at my neck. Hey there. I assume you are talking about their wireless mic that comes with the creator combo? The mic on the Pocket 2 might sound louder because of the angle towards your mouth. If you hold the wireless at the same level/angle it should be similar.
@@OttoJulian_ Many thanks! I thought that the wireless mic if well functioning would be far louder, regardless of the precise angle... So it seems that my Combo package is just normal and not a case for returning.

I'm glad that it was helpful! Yeah story mode will help you make short clips and it will clip them together. Not my favorite feature but it can come in handy for many people.
Can you use yout smartphone to get all the settings you want just easier to see. Then unplug it and start shooting? Or when you unplug the phone will it restart all your settings?

HI Otto, quick question, how you can easily open and change the bottom part of Dji pocket 2 (the original one without any tripod) with the "do it all handle". Mine is really stuck and hard to be open. Any trick perhaps?
I have the other one that has the tripod mount, not the do it all handle, and I have to admit, it's just too tight in there. no tricks for that from me, but good luck.
okayy so the doubt i had in the last video got cleared here. the pocket 2 can indeed take a timelapse on its own without needing the phone, but you said it will add some pan of its own. what kind of pan? left to right? right to left? is there any option to set a default pan mode ? thanks for the video!

hi, sorry about the late response. I use Premiere Pro to edit my videos. I think you can download the Mimo app on iPad, otherwise you can also use Premiere Rush on iPad which I believe it's free for the basic version? Premiere Rush is like Premiere Pro's little brother

hi! yeah the maximum is 256GB , how much time can you record will depend on resolution but it's a lot! I use a 64GB and for me that's enough. The pocket 2 has bluetooth

hello, yes you need to activate it the first time before using it. You don't have to get the updates but it's highly recommended that you do so. Yes you can connect it to your PC for file transferring

Too wide? You could try to zoom in a bit, but it is a digital zoom so it will loose some quality. Another option is to crop it on post, I shoot at 4K and then edit on a 1080p timeline

Hi Mike, sorry had to get back to my P2 and confirm. Yeah anything below 50fps will work with active track at 4K. The only frame rate that doesn't support active track is 60fps

why do you think the A71 is not supported? It should work fine, and all functions are going to be available, although you don't really need a phone to handle this camera.
@@OttoJulian_Thanks Otto for reply. on their list of supported mobiles a71 is not available. They mentioned the camera needs mimo 1.7 but in a71 can only install mimo 1.5.7
Hi Danny. Most shots were done with auto settings. Everything was shot at 4K, and some shots were shot at 24fps while others were at 60fps. Hope this info is helpful
@@OttoJulian_ thanks for your reply Otto! I just tried it 30 seconds ago, but this is not what I mean. If I hold that button, it indeed shows a "lock" logo en keeps the screen locked. So that the view that was at that moment in view, still keeps in view even if I move the camera. But I mean like the opposite of that. My English is not that good and I don't really know how to explain it in the right way. But what I mean is that if it's possible to let the camera work like a normal camera? So that it goes exactly how you move it, like a normal camera without the gimbal effect. For some shots I still would like the record/view of a "normal camera". I hope you understand what I mean haha.
@@dehorries2814 hi! your english is fine! now I understand. The closest to a regular camera is to select follow mode, or FPV, and choose fast gimbal speed (5:40). You will still have some "gimbal" effect but it will not go too slow.

also wanted to add I have never used an SD card reader before. My computer is a surface pro! I have seen some videos claiming that apple products cannot download 4k footage.
I thought I replied to this message before... anyway, yeah, get a SD card reader and use it on your PC, and move your video files there (to your PC), from there you can just copy the files that you need to your iPhone
Is it possible to disable the switch/turn on function On the button next to the red dot? My pocket 2 switches on 3/4 the way inside the case( so scary when the camera moves inside the case and it cant rotate when it accedentaly pressed by the plastic case)
Hello! I don't think you can disable that button. Maybe try placing the Pocket 2 the other way around? instead of having the power button on the side facing outside, place it so the memory card is actually facing you (I understand that the power button on the side is not the issue, it's the function button, which is the one to the right side of the record button)

Hello Steve! You can't take a picture while recording, but you can always take a screenshot of your video (not somethings that I like doing but has worked a few times)
I may be incorrect as many do not like the 1080 for certain modes..........but I hear when your phone is connected with the adapter to your Pocket 2 you gain 4k by the use of the phones processor or power?

Hello Ashley.. Between those 2 iMovie is a better choice. I think using a microSD card reader is a good option. Otherwise, the long way is to transfer to your PC and then to your iPad
Hi Otto, just purchased the pocket 2, one small problem I’m having in when I switch on the camera it turns to face me nods a couple of times and stays fixed on me! I can get it to face front facing by pressing the button 3 times very quickly! But surely this is not right! Do you think it’s a fault and I need to contact DJI? it is available in 4K. I think it's another setting that is not allowing you to record in 4K. are you on video mode or are you trying to do something else?

Love the P2 but can't seem to make it connect to my wifi via Mimo so I can livestream. Refuses to recognize my home network even though my phone is connected to it. Help!?
I'm new to the Pocket 2, having previously owned the original Osmo. I bought it back in November, but have only just got round to using it. The SD card that I bought was from Amazon and it's the SanDisk Extreme 128 GB microSDXC Memory Card + SD Adapter with A2 App Performance + Rescue Pro Deluxe, Up to 160 MB/s, Class 10, UHS-I, U3, V30. Because we've had snow here in the last few days, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to finally try it out. Getting home, I was extremely disappointed to see that, on my computer the footage is 'juddery', jerky and the picture breaks up. I have the Pocket 2 set to Pro mode and it was filming in 4K at 60fps. What am I doing wrong?Suggestions please?
Hey Lucifer. Doesn't seem to be a memory card issue and I'd say that you have experience using this kind of gimbals since you had the original pocket. The only time I've seen this happen as you are describing it is if you attach it to a surface that will get lots of vibration (the video I saw the guy attached the pocket 2 to his bicycle handle, and the footage had most vibrations on it). Other than that I would check on the follow speed and try a different follow mode as well. If you get a chance and if possible send me a small videoclip of your clip to my Instagram account (ottojulian_) so I can have a better idea

@@murat_saltik no problem. I had to double check with the Pocket 2 itself, and there is no way to change the resolution for timelapse. The default and only option seems to be 1080
thanks for your great user-friendly tutorial! I just got this utterly remarkable camera/gimbal. I'm blown away by what this tiny lollipop can do! I ordered the selfie stick for high crane shots as well as selfie photos, creator combo, beautiful case, power charger, dji ND filters, and am amazed at the low cost but high quality of all components. This type of camera is a game changer because, as an international traveler who wants to shoot unobtrusively, the pocket two is so tiny that people don't feel intimidated when I take it out. Candid shots, interviews etc are all possible. I have my Sony a6600 and love it for it's high quality, but the size of that gimbal/camera/lens set up is huge compared to the pocket 2. Nevertheless the two cameras can work well together, along with the mini 2 drone for great overhead shots. The camera also works seamlessly with my iphone. I'm amazed.

@@OttoJulian_ didn't you shoot this video with your main camera? Sony a7 III ? it means you should have two pocket 2s because if you just told me that you shot this video with the pocket 2, you are actually showing the pocket 2 in the video, so you should have 2 of them!
@@alterchannel2501 sorry about my confusion. I thought you were referring to the videoclips on the intro. In that case, the pocket 2 cannot replicate what the blurry background that I have on my talking head video, as you said, I'm using the A7 III. Under other circumstances it could produce some blurry backgrounds.
hello, not sure what happened. When I connect the pocket 2 to my PC there is a message on the Pocket 2 asking if I want to connect to the computer. If I accept, it opens up on the explorer just like a regular memory card

HI Otto, quick question, how you can easily open and change the bottom part of Dji pocket 2 (the original one without any tripod) with the "do it all handle". Mine is really stuck and hard to be open. Any trick perhaps?
I have the other one that has the tripod mount, not the do it all handle, and I have to admit, it's just too tight in there. no tricks for that from me, but good luck.

okayy so the doubt i had in the last video got cleared here. the pocket 2 can indeed take a timelapse on its own without needing the phone, but you said it will add some pan of its own. what kind of pan? left to right? right to left? is there any option to set a default pan mode ? thanks for the video!
hi! you have to select motionlapse, and if you swipe from right to left again you can select the direction. hope this helps

Hello. Yes it has an internal microphone. Some modes will not record sound (like timelapses, hyperlapses, etc). Are you filming in regular video mode?

hi, sorry about the late response. I use Premiere Pro to edit my videos. I think you can download the Mimo app on iPad, otherwise you can also use Premiere Rush on iPad which I believe it's free for the basic version? Premiere Rush is like Premiere Pro's little brother
Thanks Otto..very informative...I just purchased DJI Pocket 2 yesterday...I have a problem with mini control stick...when I double tap the button beside the control stick, nothing happens...I don't get the display on top right hand corner (beside battery logo). I have tried resetting the device as well but no luck...let me know if you can help... thanks
double tapping that button is to change from zoom to gimbal movement with the joystick. not sure why yours is not doing anything?

hi! yeah the maximum is 256GB , how much time can you record will depend on resolution but it's a lot! I use a 64GB and for me that's enough. The pocket 2 has bluetooth

Why osmo pocket footage looks too cloudy, mean some pixel losage after editing?
try using 4K. Also remember that this has a small sensor and it will not do so well during low light

Does DJI pocket 2 has a strong zoom range?
these kind of cameras do have digital zoom, which is not too good in my opinion.
In order to use this camera do I have to activate it using the app? If so do I consistently have to get updates? Also, am I able to connect this directly to a pc? Thanks!
hello, yes you need to activate it the first time before using it. You don't have to get the updates but it's highly recommended that you do so. Yes you can connect it to your PC for file transferring

Nice Video Otto. In the Gimbal Lock mode, as soon as I release the Function Button, the lock disappears. Is there a way to retain the lock without holding the button?

Too wide? You could try to zoom in a bit, but it is a digital zoom so it will loose some quality. Another option is to crop it on post, I shoot at 4K and then edit on a 1080p timeline

Hi Mike, sorry had to get back to my P2 and confirm. Yeah anything below 50fps will work with active track at 4K. The only frame rate that doesn't support active track is 60fps

24 fps is usually the recommended setting to show natural blur.

why do you think the A71 is not supported? It should work fine, and all functions are going to be available, although you don't really need a phone to handle this camera.

Hi Danny. Most shots were done with auto settings. Everything was shot at 4K, and some shots were shot at 24fps while others were at 60fps. Hope this info is helpful

Hi. You can press the lock button (lower right) but you need to hold it. No way to keep it locked without holding the button

So that the view that was at that moment in view, still keeps in view even if I move the camera. But I mean like the opposite of that. My English is not that good and I don't really know how to explain it in the right way. But what I mean is that if it's possible to let the camera work like a normal camera? So that it goes exactly how you move it, like a normal camera without the gimbal effect. For some shots I still would like the record/view of a "normal camera". I hope you understand what I mean haha.
@@dehorries2814 hi! your english is fine! now I understand. The closest to a regular camera is to select follow mode, or FPV, and choose fast gimbal speed (5:40). You will still have some "gimbal" effect but it will not go too slow.

also wanted to add I have never used an SD card reader before. My computer is a surface pro! I have seen some videos claiming that apple products cannot download 4k footage.
I thought I replied to this message before... anyway, yeah, get a SD card reader and use it on your PC, and move your video files there (to your PC), from there you can just copy the files that you need to your iPhone
Is there a way to get the footage from the dji to your phone. I like editing on my iphone at the moment.

Is it possible to disable the switch/turn on function On the button next to the red dot? My pocket 2 switches on 3/4 the way inside the case( so scary when the camera moves inside the case and it cant rotate when it accedentaly pressed by the plastic case)
Hello! I don't think you can disable that button. Maybe try placing the Pocket 2 the other way around? instead of having the power button on the side facing outside, place it so the memory card is actually facing you (I understand that the power button on the side is not the issue, it's the function button, which is the one to the right side of the record button)

Hello Steve! You can't take a picture while recording, but you can always take a screenshot of your video (not somethings that I like doing but has worked a few times)

Hello Ashley.. Between those 2 iMovie is a better choice. I think using a microSD card reader is a good option. Otherwise, the long way is to transfer to your PC and then to your iPad

Hi Otto, just purchased the pocket 2, one small problem I’m having in when I switch on the camera it turns to face me nods a couple of times and stays fixed on me! I can get it to face front facing by pressing the button 3 times very quickly! But surely this is not right! Do you think it’s a fault and I need to contact DJI? it is available in 4K. I think it's another setting that is not allowing you to record in 4K. are you on video mode or are you trying to do something else?
I just had to double check, and now I remember. It doesn't work on 4K/60fps. but for 4K @50/48/30/25/24fps it's good!

I'm new to the Pocket 2, having previously owned the original Osmo. I bought it back in November, but have only just got round to using it. The SD card that I bought was from Amazon and it's the SanDisk Extreme 128 GB microSDXC Memory Card + SD Adapter with A2 App Performance + Rescue Pro Deluxe, Up to 160 MB/s, Class 10, UHS-I, U3, V30. Because we've had snow here in the last few days, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to finally try it out. Getting home, I was extremely disappointed to see that, on my computer the footage is 'juddery', jerky and the picture breaks up. I have the Pocket 2 set to Pro mode and it was filming in 4K at 60fps. What am I doing wrong?Suggestions please?
Hey Lucifer. Doesn't seem to be a memory card issue and I'd say that you have experience using this kind of gimbals since you had the original pocket. The only time I've seen this happen as you are describing it is if you attach it to a surface that will get lots of vibration (the video I saw the guy attached the pocket 2 to his bicycle handle, and the footage had most vibrations on it). Other than that I would check on the follow speed and try a different follow mode as well. If you get a chance and if possible send me a small videoclip of your clip to my Instagram account (ottojulian_) so I can have a better idea

@@murat_saltik no problem. I had to double check with the Pocket 2 itself, and there is no way to change the resolution for timelapse. The default and only option seems to be 1080

thanks for your great user-friendly tutorial! I just got this utterly remarkable camera/gimbal. I'm blown away by what this tiny lollipop can do! I ordered the selfie stick for high crane shots as well as selfie photos, creator combo, beautiful case, power charger, dji ND filters, and am amazed at the low cost but high quality of all components. This type of camera is a game changer because, as an international traveler who wants to shoot unobtrusively, the pocket two is so tiny that people don't feel intimidated when I take it out. Candid shots, interviews etc are all possible. I have my Sony a6600 and love it for it's high quality, but the size of that gimbal/camera/lens set up is huge compared to the pocket 2. Nevertheless the two cameras can work well together, along with the mini 2 drone for great overhead shots. The camera also works seamlessly with my iphone. I'm amazed.

In that case, the pocket 2 cannot replicate what the blurry background that I have on my talking head video, as you said, I'm using the A7 III. Under other circumstances it could produce some blurry backgrounds.

hello, not sure what happened. When I connect the pocket 2 to my PC there is a message on the Pocket 2 asking if I want to connect to the computer. If I accept, it opens up on the explorer just like a regular memory card
