Pickling Cabbage in HUGE Quantity Wooden Barrels

It is a busy season here, in the city of Milișăuți, Romania, the motherland of pickled vegetables, where pickling cabbage is the chief occupation. Local farmers Petru and Brândușa Peslari are setting things up for pickling whole cabbage, as well as making sauerkraut, following their own traditional recipes.

I’m from Brasov-Romania,Transilvania,and now I’m leaving in Arizona.Since I left my homeland I didn’t leave behind the...pickling vegetable.All year aroud I pickle vegetables;tomato,green tomato,cucumber, cabbage etc.It’s in ours tradition to pickle veggies.We serve them almost with every maicourse ...beef stew,stroganoff,etc.Combine the “sweet “ taste of beef stew with pickled veggies,you will have a great culinary experience .

Such hard working people, you can see it on their faces they love doing this and are proud of the results of their work. My 10 year old daughter was watching this and when she saw the pickled cabbage in the red barrel she said she felt the smell of the cabbage(she knows it...it's her grandma😉)...good job camera guy😊

My mother was born In Bukowina and always talked about pickling the whole cabbage. I live in Arizona and never knew how it was done. I will try and then make Galuschti (sp?)

They are the best! If you don't have other options, you can pickle the whole cabbage in plastic barrels too...my grandfather did so, he lived in a flat. Gr. from Romania 🤗
