    It's Vital: You should be packing that edge in lifts, no more than 6" at a time, with that little compactor, you will never achieve a 95% compaction rate if you don't, and it's going to sag over time. Thank for the video.

      Yeah we did each lift somewhere at about 4-5 inches for each lift. The roller did a great job on it and it was super solid.

    I enjoy your videos. In my opinion you needed to remove alot more on the lower side. Topsoil isn't just stripping the grass off. Get rid of all the black. It has organic material and will never pass a compaction test. That corner of the pad will settle and have issues. I'm not trying to be negative just Constructive criticism.

      Hey Tom, I appreciate the comment! Trust me, we got all the organic stuff out, just because it looks dark doesn't mean it has organics in it, a lot of our fill sand here used for house pads is black and brown and it has no organics in it. As soon as you strip the grass off, everything underneath is course sand. Plus, the outer edges will have a footer to support the slab and that will be where most of the weight bearing will be. As long as the concrete guy does a good job with the footer this thing will never move.

    You should always start with the gravel from the same depth as the original house has it's foundation and dig down a drainage where the joint is and min 20cm below the concrete slab.

      I don't believe there is a foundation, I'm pretty sure this is a mobile home with a brick veneer around the undersection.

    If he had that much experience why didn’t he do the job himself? Looked like he was micro-managing a little.

      No not at all, he's retired and is a disabled army vet. It was actually nice to have him out there to bounce ideas off of and learn from him! We swapped alot of army stories too LOL!

    Nice job! Definitely something I feel I need to learn more about to capture that part of the market. Especially with my 333G with dozer blade coming.

    • @idigit4967
      @idigit4967  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah this is a good market to get into if demand is there for it! A lot of concrete guys here do this work themselves tho so I don't do too much of it but I hope to do more in the future!

      LOL I don't know about that! Brandon is an artist when it comes to building pads. I'm like a 5 year kid who's just figured out finger painting compared to him! 🤣🤣🤣

    The best instructor is experience! So,👍 for giving it a go. The first pad I ever built was for a pool. I didn't even own a laser level until the night before the job. It was definitely a learning experience. Keep on keeping on...

      Thank you! Yeah not the easiest pad for my first one, those back corners had to come up 2 feet! But we got it done and that roller made it solid as a rock too! I definitely learned a lot!
