My son just arrived on 7/24. His role will be PhotoPass at Animal Kingdom. We had never heard of the DCP until Disney searched him out to apply. He flew through all the rounds and start to finish he was accepted within 6 days. Thank you for your information, research before arriving/accepting is key! There's a lot to this.
Pay should start at $16 now, it has been increased from $14.

I worked at the Peoplemover on my DCP in 2022 and it was so much fun. I loved it so much! I also love living with the land!

Hello! I'm a current high school student researching the DCP out of interest and curiosity. It's great to see that your top 2 role preferences are what mine would be as well! I've scoured TH-cam for vlogs and reviews of the program, and some claim it's a nightmare, while others say it was a worthwhile experience. I do see that the program benefits Disney more than it should in the way that college students are not given the benefits of being actual employees and find it difficult to request time off without consequences no matter how reasonable. Despite the negative reviews, I still want to apply when in college for some reason. I've been enchanted with the view that it just might be a memorable time for me. Also, I wanted to ask 2 questions;
- Do you know if people with unrelated career plans or majors still participate in the DCP? For example, I might not be majoring in a relevant field, and most likely do not care to work in the parks post-DCP. Would it still be worth it for the experience and resume potential?
- I live in PA and moving to Florida, even for 4-7 months would be a little bit of hassle seeing as it's a long drive if I want to bring a car or otherwise I'd have to worry about flying. Again, do you think it would be worth it?
Anyone I talk to wonders why I want to do the DCP if it's out of my way and not important to my future very much, but like everyone else, the magic that does exist through an experience like this is amazing and I think I'd enjoy the learning and meeting new people while working a uniquely Disney role.
My son recently graduated college and just arrived this past week for his program. You can request a role, but is extremely likely that you will get something completely unrelated to anything you've ever done before. They have the right to assign you any role they wish at any of the four parks or resorts.
You are correct. I have done a lot of research and many participants love it and many hate it. You must go in with an open mind and be prepared to work a lot of hours. My advice is to save money before you get there.
We live in the Midwest and my son had to fly. All because you want to bring your vehicle doesn't mean you'll be able to. They have limited parking passes available. Between the program fees, plane fare, extra clothing and essentials needed to set up his apt, we are well over $1000 out of pocket for a 6 month experience.
@@lisaolds228 Hi, just saw this reply! I think if I ever decided to apply for the program, I would definitely save money beforehand so that if it does turn out to not be my style, I can back out and not be financially drained for nothing. Anyway, how has program been for your son so far?

Your videos are really helpful!! I have a dumb question.. are you suppose to be taking class while in the program? Like remote learning? Or are you technically taking a “break” from college? Hopefully that makes sense.

Can someone tell me about long until you would get notified If you get an Interview? Then how long after That to hear about a position ?? Just anxious and checking every 5 minutes 😅😂 For J1 program though

There aren’t any summer exclusive programs, but if you apply for spring they have move in dates as late as April I believe
Can we do the full 8 months of the program? So for example if I wanted to get there August can I pick a departure date in April? I hope this makes sense lol
Unfortunately not :( If you arrive in August the latest you can stay (without extending) is to the end of February!
