Finally someone with common sense and understands the bible. Makes absolutely no sense to forgive the unrepentant murder, child molester, rapist, etc. Jesus will not allow you into Heaven if you don't repent. Majority if pastors have this so wrong and actually put immense burden to sell your self and loves ones out. It really is common sense if you read the bible. Most pastors are stuck in insane orthodoxy and modern day philosophies. Thanks for sharing the truth. The truth makes sense and makes you feel good.

    Luke 17:3-4
“If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.”
Notice this command and where its says "if they repent" there is a qualifier for forgiveness which is repentance.
Aside from this you can have a heart that is ready to forgive. Just as God has a heart ready to forgive all those who come to him.
And as David says we are commanded to love regardless.

My Father and my Brother have a history of causing me bad anxiety…
I’ve told them this (separately and privately)… and neither apologized nor asked for forgiveness (in fact there are times where they respond rather aggressively to this)…
I still love them dearly… but… it is quite mind blowing to think that by all means… I don’t have to forgive when they don’t ask for forgiveness…
If they did though… of course they would be immediately forgiven…
    ….
Why is it that some folks just can’t bring themselves to say… “I’m sorry.”

No no no, you all confuse forgiveness with perfection. ZERO of us were forgiven and became sinless the next day. Forgiveness is about removing the debt of injury. Not about removing injury entirely. Jesus didn't cease to have wounds because He forgave us. Sin has consequences. Two things can be true. Forgiveness of sins removes the primary consequence--separation from God--but it does not restore things to Eden. If your family injures you, forgive them, love them, but be safe! Ask God for wisdom. Forgiveness and love is all that is required. Not that we overcome their unrepentance. Two things can be true: you can forgive and also keep boundaries from those who would injure you. When Jesus says "turn the cheek" He is saying, when the world says, "I hate you," then you are to say "I love you more than you can hate" back. JUST AS JESUS DID. Not I will be a doormat. It was not a call to be passive. It was to be active. It was a call to have agency in love and mercy. Not to surrender to the world of evil. We are sheep among wolves. Be wise.

    • @yestothetruth

@Matthew Petto He made the way for forgiveness. We don't get forgiven until we repent and that's when we are reconciled to God. From that point on by God's grace we live a new life for Him, no longer as his enemies, doing our own will (and the devil's will) and sinning rather than doing God's will.
      Romans 5:6-11
6 For at just the right time, while we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 It is rare indeed for anyone to die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Therefore, since we have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from wrath through Him! 10 For if, when we were enemies of God, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life! 11 Not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
      Luke 24:46-47
46 He said to them, "Thus it is written, for the Messiah to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, 47 and that repentance leading to forgiveness of sins should be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

    • @yestothetruth
      @yestothetruth 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@Matthew Petto The role of the Holy Spirit is to convict sinners of sin, it's up to them to act upon that conviction and repent or reject it and remain rebellious to God.
This is not spoken to the Holy Spirit but to men:
      James 1:21-22
21 Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves.
It's a call to repentance and faith in Jesus.
God commands every man everywhere to repent and He speaks that to sinners who know nothing yet about having the Holy Spirit:
      Acts 17:30-31
30 The times of ignorance therefore God overlooked. But now he commands that all people everywhere should repent, 31 because he has appointed a day in which he will judge the world in righteousness by the man whom he has ordained; of which he has given assurance to everyone by raising him from the dead.”
God has always called sinners to repentance:
      Isaiah 55:6-7
6 Seek the LORD while he may be found; call you on him while he is near: 7 let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
Lookup regeneration that would include the giving of a new heart (Ezekiel 36:26-27). That seems to be what you are confusing with repentance.
That giving of a new heart comes after repentance. We have to want to live for God before He gives us a new heart, and we show Him that by turning away from wickedness as He commands. That happens in the brokenness and humility of repentance.
      James 4:8-10
8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Lament, mourn, and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will exalt you.
That's repentance. Nothing to boast about in that. But people who won't humble themselves before God won't repent because they don't get his grace. God resists the proud but gives his grace to the humble (James 4:6). That grace is power to live for God and say 'No' to sin (Titus 2:11-14). I am afraid whenever repentance is twisted or outright denied as a mandate for salvation, sin goes on and on, and one reason after another is given as to why that is. No, Jesus called sinners to repentance (Luke 5:31-32), and their faith (obedience to Him) is the new path of righteousness, which is opposite to sin, that they are called to (Romans 6:16 - check it).
      Luke 6:46-49
46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do the things which I say? 47 Everyone who comes to me, and hears my words, and does them, I will show you who he is like. 48 He is like someone building a house, who dug and went deep, and laid a foundation on the rock. When a flood arose, the stream broke against that house, and could not shake it, because it had been well built. 49 But he who hears, and does not do, is like someone who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream broke, and immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.”
Preachers don't preach repentance so much these days, so most sinners want prayers and don't know there is a way to get freedom from sin in Christ that includes an action they have to take. Most people are sold a "do nothing - it's all been done on the cross" gospel, and they keep on struggling with sin year after year and claiming salvation by grace.
Remove repentance from the gospel and salvation can mean anything, even living in sin is not shocking for a 'saved' person who is even supposing he is eternally secure in sin, but that's an oxymoron. Sin is what Jesus came to save people from (Matthew 1:21, John 8:34-36, Acts 3:26).
Remember when you preach to not preach any other gospel than the Gospel of Jesus that saves. Its pillars are repentance and faith in Jesus:
      Acts 20:20-21
20 [You know] how I did not hold back from declaring to you anything that was profitable, and teaching you publicly and from house to house, 21 testifying both to Jews and to Greeks REPENTANCE toward God, and FAITH toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
Also, I didn't understand what you said about UOJ, I don't know what it means. Peace to you!

Hello sir, thank you for your teaching and insight.
My thought: Jesus on the cross forgave the people's wicked act, even while He was being crucified, "forgive them for they know what they do". Like you have said we should love them and walk in love towards them as the Lord will have us do. Apart, from making them realize that they have wronged us (if they are believer), I believe the way to truly walk in love is to let them go in our hearts, whether they come to us or not, whether they are approachable or not, for the good of our own health and for our worship. We should settle it with God and not allow these folks to be an hindrance to our fellowship with the Lord. We can control how we will respond but we cannot control how others will respond.
This is also not to negate that repentance should preceed forgiveness.
    Thank you, God bless

But now ten years later I realized I am hurt by the evil she did to me. How do I forgive her. Saying outloud that I forgive does not ease the anger or the pain I still suffer everyday from what she did to me. How to forgive of she can't even repent to me. When I told her I forgave her for everything she did to me she did not even repent or I don't even remember her acknowledging the things she did to me.

Is it wrong to want justice? "“In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected men. And there was a widow in that town who kept appealing to him, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’
For a while he refused, but later he said to himself, ‘Even though I do not fear God or respect men, 5yet because this widow keeps pestering me, I will give her justice. Then she will stop wearing me out with her perpetual requests.’”
And the Lord said, “Listen to the words of the unjust judge. Will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry out to Him day and night? Will He continue to defer their help? I tell you, He will promptly carry out justice on their behalf. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on earth?”

If he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in doing so, you will heap coals of fire on his head." 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Ok, but what do you say about this verse? " Father, forgive them, for they don't know what they are doing." Luke 23,34

I say, the was God on the cross and not a mortal man. Thus, a mortal man would not have that type of knowledge. Jesus did not tell them they were going to Heaven, he was just not holding them accountable to that specific sin perpetrated against him.

@@scottb.3262 Ok, but here is an example, that they where not aware they where sining against God, moerover they probably didn't repent, didn't confess their evil deeds, and even so Jesus ask His Father "forgive them". That's interesting. Isn't it? And what about this "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don't forgive your trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." Matthew 6,14-15. Here is no information about confession, but simple condition. What about such situation, if I don't forgive (because the guilty one haven't repented). Will God then forgive me my sins, that I am not aware or that I have not confessed?

It’s a prayer - not a declaration of forgiveness. It’s the willingness however, dependent on their repentance.

In Revelation in the vision of the future, there's people said to be there under the alter asking God," how long oh Lord until you avenge us?"
He gave them white Robes and told them to rest a little while longer.... Guess they were never taught to forgive even when no one repents. If that's the case, he wouldn't have dressed them in white etc

Hmm, Christ forgave those who crucified Him on the cross, and Stephen forgave those who stoned him. Perhaps you do not "have to" forgive, but would one want to be more Christ-like, as we are injoined to become, or remain less well conformed to His likeness and image? I am not saying that forgiveness is always easy, but it is clear that it is ideal. "Jesus said, 'Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.'' And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.
" Luke 23:34, NIV, and: "While they were stoning him, Stephen appealed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” Falling on his knees, he cried out in a loud voice, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” And when he had said this, he fell asleep." Acts 6:59-60. Humans became depraved after the sin in Eden. We are imperfect and have a general biological predispositon to sin. Moreover, creation itself was corrupted at the fall, and so the environment can activate the biological tendancy. Many conditions of the psyche, such a personality disorders, result from a person's genetic or developmental predisposition and then actualize in response to trauma, such as adverse parenting. Thus, in a sense the sinner is also a victim, and perhaps we can stretch, at least sometimes, to extend our forgiveness, and in so develop positively in the spiritual sense.

Where did Christ forgive them? He didn’t. Like Judas & the Pharisees, he did not forgive them either.

I'm not so sure this is correct. God says to forgive no matter what... I have been deeply hurt by both my parents and never received any apology from either of them. One of them is deceased now and the other is almost 80 years old. When I feel the hurt and the bitterness creeping in, I feel like God is putting it immediately on my heart to forgive...It is self righteous to compare ourselves to God's way as this man is saying... God has the right to not forgive us if we refuse to repent, we do not...He created us And He also made a way for us to be with Him forever when Jesus died on the cross for our sins if we repent... We are all equal in God's Eyes and so is our sin... Because we are not God we do not have the right to refuse forgiveness to someone who doesn't ask for it because it poisons our heart and causes separation from God. That would promote us feeling higher and mightier than the person who wronged us...Jesus said the one without sin cast the first stone... He said that to remind us that we have no business casting judgment on our fellow man...That being said, God does not expect us to stay in a relationship that is harmful to us. I love my mother and I always will, But it is detrimental to me to be in a relationship with her because she will continue to hurt me. I pray for her and myself daily because that is what God expects me to do

We can love unrepentants even if they don't repent. We preached the Gospel to them because we love them and we want them to be reconciled with God. But forgiveness can be withheld until they repent. God is ready to forgive all those that repent but he loves them anyways. He makes his sun shine on good and bad❤

False prophesy unforgivness is a learned behaviour and has nothing to do with the perpetrator forgiveness is all about liberating the victim we was not born to be un forgiving for example a mom can spank her baby on the bottom one minute it will be crying the next it will be hugging her why???? Because the baby forgives her a second example you can see two kids fighting in the street over there toys an hour later the kids will back playing while the parents are still arguing UN FORGIVENESS is a learned behaviour as I say forgiveness as nothing to do with making the perpetrator feel good about what he has done its not about agreeing with him it's all about the victim and giving the victim peace for example they never paid me back the money I do not want the money I can get more money if I can get more peace and I'm not going to ask for them to forgive me I will not give you that much power we must always forgive as jesus did it is a commandment and it is the biggest blessing God gave us now I'm also a big believer in if you hurt me once that's your fault but if I have to forgive over and over again that's my fault I agree with alot of your videos but not this as people do not understand the true meaning of forgiveness I say it again un forgiveness is a learned behaviour God bless
