hey, just wanted to figure it out cause i checked the website and couldn't find an answer - what exactly is the difference between a segmented run and one that isn't?
Hey there, so the difference is the following: A single segment run is when you run the game in one sitting from the beginning to the end. A segmented (multi-segment) run is when you play parts of the run over and over and then choose the fastest segment and put it in the video. For example, at 1:03 I save and load on the roof. This starts my segment, then I do multiple attempts to get to level 2 as fast as possible, then I take the fastest segment and cut it right after the loading screen, so it looks like it is only one attempt. This game requires that a segment is started by saving and then loading. In the end a segmented run is a showcase of what the game has to offer with a cut-together compilation of either the fastest levels or whatever areas you choose to make your segments in.
@@owllukas okay, that clears things up, thank you so much for answering! :) also another question that i forgot to ask, lol, why does everyone run the japanese version of the game for glitchless runs? as far as i know the only difference is with enemies' health. does that help with the purposes of speedrunning?
