Ok. But Thank you so much! You get to the point, Your directions are easy to follow. Your tone is pleasant. - and you know what your talking about. And you didnt waste time with 20 minutes saying "Why one would want to do this, like most you tube tutorials have. You show HOW to, not why we want to. :) That was very refreshing to be able to watch the whole video without getting confused by side tracks and all that stuff. Much respect, and thanks! Your video made me look like a rock star at work! Much Much respect!
It took me a few failed runs to find my error, but this was GREAT! Thanks so much for publishing this for those of us needing to know how to copy pages to different sites. It's even better that the steps you provided is flexible enough that it can prompt the user each time for a new path versus having to change the routine each time. THANK YOU!
I am your newest subscriber. THANK YOU so much for this video. You are a LIFE SAVER. I have been trying to figure out how to do this now for about 10 hours it feels like. I’m a pretty good GOOGLER but so many pages had the right title (copy a page from one site to another) but so many used SharePoint Server or gave ideas that apparently are no longer relevant. I followed your steps as you did them and it worked perfectly. Now I hope I can take this knowledge and also figure out how to move news posts from one site to another as well. Wish me luck!
Appreciate the video a lot. I've been taking over the Sharepoint admin duties and it's often very unclear how to navigate its landscape. Your methods worked like a charm and saved me a lot of hassle.
Glad I was able to help. Anything else you would like to see, just shout. What seems obvious for one can be confusing for others (quite the definition of these products 😉)
Thanks for this tutorial, it's extremely clear! Is there a way to move also the SitePages resources (images)? I noticed that the images (and I suppose also the documents) in the destination site refers to the origin site so I can't remove them from there. Thanks in advance!
Thank you very much Sir Francois, this worked very well! Did you know if there is a way that I can put the origin Site like the custom value for the destination Site?
Hello. Great video! I followed along and tried to replicate the steps, however when I went back to my page and clicked the 'Automate' dropdown, the 'Copy to another site' option was not there. I am not sure why, or how to run the flow without it. Do you perhaps have any suggestions as to what a fix might be? Thanks!
not sure I understand what is the "automate drop down" ... in an action, a flow, the list of flows... ? Suggestion : Anyhow, you must have found it again now, if a flow has been shared by or shared to a group/SharePoint site, then it will appear in the shared list.
Hi, I had this issue several times when I tried to reuse a flow from the past. I learned the following "For Flows that use the 'For a selected item' or the 'For a selected file' trigger, only those that are part of the Default environment in Power Automate are listed within the SharePoint Automate menu." This means that if you made the flow with site X as a source, you can only use it for site x. If you want to copy a file from site Y, then you have to make the flow again starting from site Y.
Thank you very much Fracois for the video. Unfortunately I have stuck also at the last part of the flow "Copy file" but for me it is different error. “Failed to verify the existence of source location at”, but the source location was selected from the list of the sharepoint sites. Do you know how to solve it?
Superb, thanks so much for sharing this Francois. Do you think there is scope in the future to be able to make multiple page selections for simultaneous copying or would that have to be done using something else like PowerShell?
First of all thank you for the video, it will save me a lot of time. I have a question: I want to copy 2000 pages of a website to another website, with the flow it is possible. What I noticed is that the images are not stored in the page assets as usual ... could this cause problems? Thank you!
Hi Francois, is there a quick way of moving more than one page? I have about 10 pages I wanted to move. If I select more than one page the copy page to another option disappears.
not for "selected items" as for now we only have a trigger for 1 item only. But you could start the workflow elsewhere (schedule) and read each items in a filtered view and then go 1 by 1 to copy these items in a loop
Hi Francoise, I managed to get this to work copying page content from a Teams Communication site to a Communication site, and also from a Communication site to a Teams site. However, when I apply the Flow from a Teams site to a Teams site, or the other way around, from a Teams site to a Comms site, while the Flow accepts the logic, when I attempt to test it, I receive an error saying "This flow cannot be triggered for testing". Might this be because it will only accept an automated flow in these directions?
really has to be "identifier" and not ID as explained th-cam.com/video/zjmgVGCwZfM/w-d-xo.html (ID is the SharePoint item unique identifier, where "identifier" is the file.
@@digitalfrancoisI've set up this flow with your help for about 10 different sites so far without any problems. But with the current site, it indeed is just not showing "ID" (file Identifier) and "User ID" when I search for "identifier". I've remade the flow 5 times from scratch and each time it's not showing it (for this site). I think something underlying is different on this one as it's part of our intranet and not our regular sharepoint sites. Not expecting you to know the reason why, just know there are situations you cannot select Identifier for whatever reason.
When I want to edit my page on Sharepoint Online, the top ribbon does not show up. Instead, a menu on the right shows up where it has very limited editing options. Can you please let me know how I can bring back the ribbon on the top on Sharepoint Online?
Thank you for this video! This was exactly what I was looking for. However, when I follow your steps, I get the error message: "The query cannot be completed because the number of lookup columns it contains exceeds the lookup column threshold." :( Any Ideas how to solve this?
Unfortunately, this is only useful if you're copying a single page with only external links. If you copy e.g. two or more pages which are linking to each other to another SharePoint site, the new pages will still link to the original subpages, as sharepoint forces links to be absolute. If sharepoint would allow links to defined relative to the sharepoint site, the new pages would link to their new subpages on the other sharepoint site. what a bummer. any hints/hacks appreciated.
Yep ! You are right, the tip I showed is really for copying/moving pages and avoid recreating the full content, but some content like links will not benefit from that. Look for "migration tools" (paid) as some do a scan on links and edit them as will.
UPDATE: I was WRONG this works MARVELOUSLY STILL!!! Just don't forget to check-in your page so your Power Automate doesn't stall out waiting for you to check-in. You'll have to cancel the flow and restart it after checking in the page. My god @digitalfrancois you just saved me so many hours! Now and going forward.. WHY is this NOT default built into SharePoint it seems SOOO ridiculously low hanging fruit LOL... ORIGINAL POST: I don't think this is working anymore. I just followed the steps case by case and received no errors besides my initial lack of having a template folder on my recipient site. I'm running the flow and it's stalling at 9minutes so far... the site I copied didn't even have a lot of content. It did surface a List and Power BI though, wondering if that is causing the issues?
ha ha... for once I don't have to apologise for responding late then 😄. Glad it helps (and that it is still working! ) YES.. the question has been asked a few times. SharePoint is such a complex system as reliable on multiple other systems that we always know that one workaround may break another one elsewhere. So if it is released as the default method, it will -at least - be called "Beta" to make sure that they warned you before using it ;-)
@@digitalfrancois Hey hope all is well with you and yours! I weirdly got double scroll bars when I did this directly the other day without doing a Template I think.. Phenomenal. Thank You. I did it step by step and you have saved me hours of rearranging.

Afraid not. As you may have tested already, replacing Site Address by the site GUID doesn't work. Will give more try and let you know here
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Worked perfectly - thanks so much!

Thank you very much for this; however, is there a way to copy pages in bulk and retain the metadata? Thank you much for your help.
Not as far as I know, yet.

make sure that the "identifier" is the one from Source (1st object in flow) and not another identifier from another object.
Superb, thanks so much for sharing this Francois. Do you think there is scope in the future to be able to make multiple page selections for simultaneous copying or would that have to be done using something else like PowerShell?
who knows.. that "hack" might as well not be what the makers want us to use, and it may stop working at some point :-(
Hey when you say there is a s missing at 11:20 how do we correct it my one keeps failing
please see updated video description with the second part of video now available
It is actually not missing an S, it has an S too much. In the video it is spelled SitesPages, but it should actually be SitePages
don't forget to move the site assets from the page
that's right, but then repoint each element like someone mentioned
First of all thank you for the video, it will save me a lot of time.

Images needed to be accessible by the page viewers, you may have to replace them in the pages of not.
