Sadly most of people in this world dont give a shit about music. At this level you have some good musicians from every country listening and talking about this. Only some people play bass, just a few dominate it. Those who understand how hard bass is, get what I am trying to say. 1 Bar.
@@InspectorGringo aha your funny Charles is great skill wise but anything Charles could ever play Victor could in a heartbeat plus Charles can not make the music Victor can:3
That's what I thought of Mark King. Then I heard Stanley Clarke. So that's what I thought about Stanley Clarke. Then I heard Jaco Pastorius, so that's what I thought of Jaco. Then I heard Victor Wooten, .... Useless fact, I even thought of myself as a decent gutairst (I know I am not execellent). Then I heard the kids that study at the music college around the corner 🙈
And I feel the AMAZING GRACE all over me. Jan 20 he will be near my city(so I needed to TH-cam verify him 😂) and I'm strongly considering taking my 6-year-old son!!! I shall keep you guys posted 😊
Here is a man that truly embraced a bass guitar! I'm not saying others are bad, but I feel most bassists play for the sake of filling a gap, they do not play what a bass can play, they play what others play...
@@burrito3.0it’s much easier on a fretless bass, on one of those you just hit the harmonic, then press slightly harder and slide it. It’s possible on fretted bass but it requires a much more precise amount of pressure
I will always come back to this video. His notes give me a osciliope vibe how they just waver but they're solid throughout. Then when he starts funkin he just splashes like glitter on a drum that's multi coloured. Beautiful
Don't particularly enjoy the music, but even someone who HATES his style of music has to admit that he is an incredible player and many modern day bass players should aspire to be even half as good as he is. I love watching him play and at least have an appreciation for the effort he puts into his music. Absolutely phenomenal Victor, keep it up.
when i go to college im gonna hang up posters of this guy, larry graham, jimi hendrix, david gilmoure, and john frusciante to inspire me everyday, yeh i think thats enough to motivate me every morning lol
All the 34 Jerks who has disliked... trying playing the simple song Amazing grace and i bow to you guys......do not dislike if you dont know what is being played....
DUDE. I listened to the intro, and got up to get the Leicestershire Smallpipes to jam along with this and then about @1:30 it just gets all outside my 9 note range. OK, we'll work it out on the feadog. Victor, I saw you and Bela at Panoply in Huntsville way way back, when my eyes weren't foggy and my joints didn't hurt, and you guys were the high point of my evening. Fabulous work as always, bro.
i'm playing this for my solo performance! :D gosh, soooo difficult to get the harmonics good, and i'm learning by ear, so, 10x the difficulty :// oh well, we bassists do what we must to prove to the world we are real musicians and not jsut people who pluck strings and fiddles with keys. :D i love this song!!!
@Cesdrummer I don't know if he's a Christian or not, but he also played in one of Ken Reynolds' (Integrity Music) album, featured in the bonus track "Does everybody here (wants to praise the Lord?)".
Don't think he did that. But should you ever see a need for bending harmonics, it can be done quite easily, at least for lower harmonics, octave and fifth. Just push the string where it doesn't vibrate, so for the octave harmonic on the G string, push or pull on the string exactly above the 12th fret.
Andres Vera it’s a slide harmonic, you basically play the harmonic, press on the fret like the actual metal piece where the harmonic is and you slide, the harmonic should slide like a normal fretted note, this sounds better on fretless bass where there’s no frets to interfeer
Can any of you point me toward one of Victors album where he loops his instrument around his neck!! Wanted show it to family!!!! I heard it, failed to document! Went back through 10-12 cuts trying to find it!!! Thanks
@zebercetul barely touch the fret where the harmonic is while plucking the string.. then immediately afterward, keeping the light pressure on the string, quickly slide to another fret (right above the fret to retain the harmonic) and it should work out for you.
i think anyone who has ever touched a bass admires victor.
I certainly do.
I never ever touched a bass guitar, but can not tell you how much I love him (=
not me...

I'm today years old and in absolute astonishment

Does it look like when he plays he falls to sleep dies, goes to heaven, and then when he comes back he's done with the song? He plays like an Angel!
5000 years of music in a bar.
This is MUSIC
Saw him in person last night. He is phenomenal as an artist and as a human being.
He plays it with the profound skill and joyfulness the song deserves - it's not a dirge! A great substack writer brought me here.
