The Original & Legendary Video of Victor Wooten Live solo "Amazing Grace" Returns on TH-cam after 16 Years. It was blocked but recently TH-cam released the dispute. LEAVE A LIKE & FOLLOW TO SUPPORT THE VIDEO! ENJOY!
Glad to see people enjoying this man today!!! I watched a lot of Victor Wooten videos to learn bass when I was young. Sadly, his talent completely discouraged me and I directed my attention towards a keyboard. I still always loved watching/listening to him play, in complete awe of this mans talent!
I tried to find this video for a long time but somehow the algo would not show it to me despite multiple very specific search bar entries such as "amazing grace - victor wooten/bela fleck and the flecktones" and still no results except Michael Palmisano's interview of Cory Wong with them both listening to this video on stream, I thought it had been taken down since then. This entire concert but the virtuoso part of that solo in particular is permanently etched into my brain, real happy to find the OG video they reacted to.
I'm a musician and I have listened to so much music of literally all styles over the last 4 decades, but this might still be one of the best if not the best musical performance I have ever heard in my entire life.
Back in the early ‘90s I saw the Flecktones at Telluride, never having heard any of their music and with no idea who the Wooten bros were. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. He completely blew my mind. And he’s only gotten better.
One of the amazing things about the bass is that you can pop (artificial) harmonics out of almost any string because of the sheer girth of them. Victor is amazing. Met him once... a truly spiritual man with a gift!
Victor appears to have his bass tuned E-A-D-F# (vs. the standard E-A-D-G). He uses mostly 2nd, 3rd, and 4th order harmonics to play the melody on Amazing Grace (over the 5th fret or just behind the 4th fret). In the jazz groove and end tag, he alters the bass line for an alternate chord feel. At the end, he slides the bass note down to the root (G) while he picks the A harmonic at the 5th fret - and "bends" the note up to a B with his tuner. So creative, Victor... love to see it.
I like how at 3:30 he almost starts messing with the crowd (who has 0 rhythm) but speeding it up to match them them going way out of the crowds ability. That is a good way to not get thrown off beat wise...lol...I am positive that's what he was doing.
accuttly his bass is tuned to "tenor bass" tuning which is a fith higher, its not tuning really its just the strings, you put a A D G C string setting on your bass (same as the 6 string basses first 4 strings) so yea

8 Years ago was the last comment on this. Crazy. Victor is an absolute maestro.
I used to bike across Ontario with this song in my playlist 15 years ago. Haven't heard this in quite some time and had to come back to it.

Here today...
Man, haven’t seen this solo in years, had to see it again after his philosophical lecture on music is win channel
Bears repeating that this is among THE finest moments in recorded human history. How lovely that the original video hath returned.

My mother once told me:
"What's with the bass, anyway? It's like a guitar, only less important."
Then I showed her some Victor Wooten. Case closed!
The harmonic "Amazing Grace" incorporation is so beautiful. Hell, the whole piece is, for that matter..... just masterful.
I met him during s music clinic. 🎶 Legendary, unbelievable, and incredible musician💯🙌🏾
How can anybody (bassist/musician/instrumentalist) not CRY when they watch him?
When I was watching this back in my 20s I was enthusiastic as most of the audience is. Now I just sit back, calmly, and listen.
Honestly guys, who ever imagined that man can create this with a 4 string bass ?
This was the man who brought me to play the bass. No matter how I see it he's still amazing!
This a beautiful solo by a beautiful guy.

Amazing grace indeed❤
All I can say is "Damn!" That guy is amazing.
I can’t say how much I listened to them and watched this…it’s tatted on my soul. This opened me up to different genres of music ❤❤❤❤

So creative, Victor... love to see it.
Nah he’s tuned A-D-G-C (in 4ths, but a 4th higher)

Amazing stuff right here.
Amazing solo. Especially the part with harmonics. :)

Great version of the Gospel "Amazing Grace"!
Okay, this is about to blow up again definitely. The TH-cam algorithm got a sense of humor.
Been looking for this for a long time. I'm from Nigeria
Most amazing bass player 😮
Inconceivable brilliance
Victor! You are the main man!
Seen this in a few years back and I could still groove to it. Really nice!
I love VICTOR WOOTEN!!!!!
Look at the audiences' expression. I am sure that's the reason why he's one of the best!
To all the music majors watching this in 2024, go practice.
This bass of his was the best!
That....is true talent.
This man inspires me to become a better musician
I hope this video reaches more people 🙏🏿

crazy man! we love you!
YES FINALLY 😭😭😭😭😭😭
I love that he is paying tribute to palm trees with his hairdo.
Who needs a band when you play like Victor.
VIRTUOSO in the noblest sense. Michael has redefined and redesigned the instrument. JACO would be proud (and e.e. Cummings of course!)😊😂
Gracias
Very nice
Pro grade. All the way
simples o melhor!!!
Old comment. Thank you ;-)
Banjo on the Bass... Dat be Victor
Baba my fada 4 life....

Father time gets us all (or in Victor's case, focal dystonia 😢)
December 21th 2024🎉❤ still sounds good 😢
That dude in the green shirt ..only one standing...it grooved so hard he couodnt sit...he must be a bassist
His newest (i think) album, Palmystery, is very good...I'd definitely check it out.
Wow.
Talent on loan from God
For sure
Does Victor Wooten have an album with just instrumental songs on it? If he has one I'm buying it immediately!
it looks like hes just randomly dragging his thumb over the strings!
he makes it look so easy
❤❤❤
Amazing Grace

Does anyone know where I can watch this concert in its entirety? I used to have this concert on a disc but it's been lost.
so damn nice
Anyone in 2025🙋
If you have active pickups they aren't as hard as it might seem but to pull off what Vic is doing isn't exactly easy by any means either.
this rocks
can anyone please tell me what classical song that is that he is doing arpegios in the beginning? i wanna try and learn it on guitar
correction...can He and Stanley Clarke and Thunder Cat teach me how to play one day?👍
speechless
F*ckin awesome! 5*
What's the lyrics of. The song
accuttly his bass is tuned to "tenor bass" tuning which is a fith higher, its not tuning really its just the strings, you put a A D G C string setting on your bass (same as the 6 string basses first 4 strings) so yea
It oughta be against the law to be that good!
@kellynkarr my favorite part is the replay button
@kareemie Because the bass is the right instrument for Victor.
