    Hey thank you for coming out to our Chicago FM Club Ham Radio Expo in Belvidere. I can’t wait to hook up the J Pole antenna I purchased. K9LDF

    Nice work, Michael ! In your case, does POTA stand for Pileups on the Air ?

      I think it pretty much does. I should stick to the other bands as 20 meters goes insane whenever I get on.

    Thanks for mentioning the tool you used to make the map of contacts, helps me make contest maps!

    Glad I’m not the only who’s said “Alright! Let’s make some pizza!” - Yeah! The wife and I do campfire pizzas as well, they are wonderful.

      First night of the outing is always pizza night because they are so easy to put together.

    This is NF1A. Thanks for answering my comments on your ground screen magic carpet video. Is that a 2 inch hitch on your outback? Mine is only the factory 1 1/4 hitch. I only planned on using it with 4x8 utility trailer I already had and a bike rack. I’d have to dig into specs to see if it would handle a camper like yours. Do you have any vids demonstrating the camper in and out?

      The hitch is a class II, 1 1/4 inch receiver which is big enough to handle the trailer. I think it is aftermarket as it is a Curt brand. It came with the vehicle. I do have a walkthrough video of the trailer that I did a couple of years ago. Nothing has changed since then except for a slightly larger solar panel and bigger battery: th-cam.com/video/s-7BNbF2PyI/w-d-xo.html

      Thanks for the info all questions answered FBOM. By the way I just left a lengthy comment on your “what to say to visitors” video based on a personal experience. I hope it is appropriate. NF1A.

    Hello Michael From Alabama. I've made contact with you once before I've decided and started doing polat myself so far I've done three at Park k-3706 . I've got to watch what I do I'm putting in the park numbers but sometimes they don't show up when I go to upload to the Pota app . I'm using my Yaesu FT-891 with a MFJ-2286 I have got to get to where I can get my logging on hamer app better. I hope to make contact with you again sometime I been going to the park on Friday's I want to try another park soon. 73 KQ4AHR

    A great video, Michael, I always enjoy your videos, as they are always informative and entertaining, and also some great scenery to boot! Also enjoy the cooking segments, always a treat to see what is on the "menu". Thank you for sharing. Can't wait until your next one.

    Hi Michael, good video as always, I know you have been using the screen mesh successfully for a while. I have been reading that some folks have been using Faraday Fabric for a ground plane. Have you tried this at all?

    • @KB9VBRAntennas
      @KB9VBRAntennas  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have tried the faraday cloth and it has the same performance as the window screen. So it is an option for those wanting something that takes up less space when packed away. The video on the cloth will be released this coming Wednesday.

    I have the same radio. I heard you mention that you were running 50w. Is there a reason(s) that you dialed-down the output wattage? Thanks for your wisdom!

    • @KB9VBRAntennas
      @KB9VBRAntennas  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question, I get this a lot. I've found that 50 watts transmit is a good combination of power output while conserving battery life. The difference between 100 watts and 50 is only 3dB and that equates to 1/2 S unit difference. With a good antenna system, most receiving stations will not be able to tell the difference.

      @@KB9VBRAntennas Thanks for the reply, greatly appreciated! I have your 2M Slim Jim antenna on my roof, and I love it! Keep up the good work!
