Fantastic video. What ratio of gum to pigment are you using? I make a lot of one-pass mono-gum prints and use a strong 25% ratio of pigment to gum. Thanks for sharing.
Is the retouch done with charcoal pencil? What is the difference between exposing the paper with an already pigmented emulsion and painting the paper after the exposure? Amazing job!
It is done with pastel pencil. No difference, same process as it is a multi layers process. You do the same a few times. First paint a layer, let it dry, expose, etc...

wow great work! correct me please if i'm wrong, you didn't pin the negative, right? you marked the neg. the first time and later you had the white sign on the print. Correct?
check with your local specialty print shops. big negatives are specially made. unless you have the money to buy the top of the line printers by Epson or Canon.
Thanks for sharing this video. Great work! I've 2 questions to you. 1) Do you expose the image again and again for each layer? or you just apply the mixture and erase it. 2) Do you use same mixture (bichromate+gum arabic) for 2nd layer onwards? or you just use pigment after 1st layer.
stephane noel photographer Awesome. Thank you for letting me know. It seems more efficient than making a box. That that lamp work well for other processes as well, like cyanotype? Thanks again.
stephane noel photographer In order to make paper more resistant many gum printers size it, often with gelatine and alum or formaldehyde. The question was how you do it.
martinyanus in my case I don't do anything like that. I just wet the paper and make it dry on all the sizes. so after it doesn't move too much when the temperature or the humidity change.
Wow this is gorgeous, would you ever consider making an in depth tutorial on your process?
I'm just starting out with gum printing and your video demonstration and answers to viewer questions have been very helpful. Thanks, Stephane.

You must pre-shrink the paper, in order to maintain registration, no?
No I don’t, I just put it in the water and dry it a few times before starting.
How do you get it from bleeding if you want to do it on fabric and keep such clean lines?

I expose it at least 4 times but mainly 5 or 6 times. And I use always the same mixture.
Do you always expose your emulsion to so much light when you’re coating and drying your paper, or is this only for the video?
Yes I always use so much light
Now I know why God create two hand and one mouth... Thanks for video...
