I own both because the 709 is virtually a downsized PT111 G2 and is now my EDC while the PT111 is my go-to HD when I'm not near my long guns. My 709 has no rough edges whatsoever. The 709 is thinner at the slide than the G2.
Also the double strike feature on both of these pistols is sweet and the double strike single strike feature excellent for zombie shots
Enjoyed your post. I own a Taurus G2 that I've had for a little more than 2 years with all original parts and virtually no failures except one box of Aluminum cased ammo that had feed and ejection problems. I love the feel of the G2.
You're timing is good however in that some folks are selling the 709 at unbelievable prices and I'm considering one for times I might need a thinner profile single-stack gun. You confirmed what I suspected regarding shared parts.

Nice comparison. I sold PT111 G2 and 709 Slim 9mm's. I personally liked the tapered look on the 709.

I have a Taurus G2 I bought when they first came out I have at least 1000 rounds everything is original not at first failure in the gun I bought it because it was cheap to leave in my car while on vacation good video keep up the good work

I noticed the same thing with the interchangeable barrels on my G2 and Slim, though i did not shoot them switched. I ended up keeping my Slim with a 5.5 lb trigger and selling the G2 with an 8.5 lb trigger. I even bought another Slim on Gunbroker for $159. plus $10. shipping. I think its an awesome concealed carry weapon.
So if i was to get a threaded barrel for the g2 it would fit the 709?

Own both and a 740 slim, and a 327 magnum in stainless steel 3" ported and a 4" stainless 357 magnum, not ever had a problem with them, and I have carried various calibers and pistols in the military and law enforcement, wish they had them in the 80s 💥✨✨🤔
Carry some of these for back up, but ny main Carry is a Glock 33 gen3 357 sig and some of these for back up options

Just recently bought both of these myself too, the 709 is still in shipment. Guess I can alternate my G2 for CC when I get tired of carrying the 709. Great comparison video, thanks!

I'm 6' 170 lbs and usually carry aiwb.
Of course it depends on holster choice and attire, but it does conceal easily for me.

Excellent pistols, have both, 111g2 and the 709 slim and a 740slim came with two 6 round magazines, it's mostly for a back up purpose, normal carry is a Glock 33 gen3 , and one of my Taurus pistols, and Xtra magazines, the 709 slim only had one 7 shot magazine ,but I bought 2 8 shot pro mags , they work, haven't had any problems with them they also have a 10 shot magazine, have not tried, eventually I will try one

Taurus quality has improved dramatically. I have the 740 Slim and the TX 22. Excellent guns. The pricing allows for more ammo. Ain't gonna knock Glock, but I'll stick with my amazingly reliable Taurus. Great customer service
I love my 709 put a hogue rubber grip and a peirce pinky extension found 10 rnd magazines for $20 best gun you coukd expect to spend less than $300 for either one are good guns since taurus has stepped up its quality over the years

Just purchased a 709 for edc and a 10 round clip all for less than $300 bucks!! Ran about 70-80 rounds through it today’s day had no issues. I did notice the difference in kick with different grain ammo so I’m gonna go with 115 grain right now. I actually like it! Fits good in my hands and sights are good as well.
Thanks for the video. I appreciate you showing how to break down the gun, the user manual was garbage about getting the slide off. I always say a video is better any day of the week. Broke my new one down and cleaned it to get the excess oil off it. Surprised my hubby that I did it on my own. I now know I can truly take care of myself if I ever had to. Do you know a good place to get extra magazines other than Taurus?

I own the g2 slim and it's my e.d.c. And I love it and trust my life to it.
I watch the outdoor channel on Wednesday night's (it's gun night) Shooting USA took a tour or the Taurus factory a few episodes ago.... these interchamgble parts was something they were REALLY bragging on....for whatever reason. No problem on the feedback brother. Like you said, you know my ass is the real McCoy! I appreciate the shout out....with out a shout out lol! Ball busting brother YOU DA MAN!!

(2024) I haven't tested with live fire but,
( 2009?) 709 slim ss barrel fits into modern production g3c 9mm (late 2023) and vice versa. the g3c barrel has slight differences but both appear to function as designed and even cycle snap caps. No surprise really since the g3c is a slightly enhanced g2c. it works so taurus will likely use the same barrel for probably a millennium ; )
I have the g2 and was considering the slim, but it doesn't seem like it's that much slimmer....
It kinda is tho. Definitely a different feel in the hand.
My 740 is a little beast, but my 709 is excellent,, but they are great back up pistols, and I have larger caliber pistols and options, but they are great for back up and secondary pistols 💯💥💥💥

I’ve had both and the 709 was a little finicky with ammo and the G2c is better at eating obscure ammo .
I bought both because some states can’t have 12 rounds.
U still own the g2? An thats the one you put the lakeline recoil spring in?

They have em. Pro mag makes some. I have the 709 and G3c.
Are those glow in the dark or night sights? Did they come with white dots ?

I have both, im selling my slim. I prefer G2. Slim isnt comfortable to shoot. Ill get a 9shield
Grim Aka Statik put a pinky extender on the 709 magazine. Makes a world of difference. I have both also, and that extension makes them very comparable.

No. G2 is double stack. 709 is single stack. Physically will not fit in the mag well
When the 709 slide was on the g2 frame there was a gap.
Will a G2C guide rod fit in a PT 709?

I dont think the thickness in the 709 slim was the problem. This pistol is trash. The g2c g3 is totally different. Even recoil quality is better on newer handguns.
