A guide on measuring the thickness of leather using Harriss Leather Gauges when making leather bags, belts, wallets, garments, and other leather goods.
Leather thickness is typically measured in Ounces or Millimeters. Use leather gauges to measure both at the same time when working with leather hides, sides, skins, or smaller pieces.

How do you measure the thickness of a leather jacket is it the same way and same reading or do you subtract, multiple, ???
Hi Mike, leather jackets are typically made from 1-2 oz leather (biker jackets can be up to 3 oz), but determining the leather thickness on an existing jacket is difficult as there are other materials sewn in with the garment, not just leather.
Awesome

is it possible.to measure the leather,using tape.measure? just asking?🙏🙏thank u..just a begiiner
Hi there! Measuring leather thickness with a tape measure would be somewhat difficult unless it featured millimeters as most leather is 5mm or less in thickness.
