It looks great zooming around, a timeless shape! If only Carisma made the car a tad larger, I wouldn’t say it’s 1/8, more 1/9 really. With the electrics I’ve fitted and the different tyres this thing goes well, I’m really liking it!

Cool vid dude. Love the slow mo jump. 👍🏻

Cheers mate, both cars jump so well. The Viper is a lot more forgiving than the 959, I soon found out I had to get the correct speed going up the jump with that car...

Thanks yeah it's superb! It's had a few changes, 4300kv motor, 120a esc, 300,000wt centre diff oil, and off-road tyres. The stock tyres just can't cut it off-road. It's a brilliant model, I was pleasantly surprised how well it goes around a track. Thanks for taking a look and enjoy your new purchase!

Craggle RC Hi, can you run the standard set up on 3s or will the esc die.

From the reviews I've read of the Carisma 959 they've ran it on 3S, I've never used the stock esc though so I've no experience of that. I fitted a different 120a esc straight away to match the motor I also fitted. It works fine on 2S which is what's used in the video, 3S is too lairy for the indoor and outdoor tracks it's used on. The Viper in the video is run on 3S, but again that's had different electrics fitted since I bought that too.

Thank you! I'm made up with it, it's surprised me how capable the chassis is offroad just by raising the suspension by 1 hole and fitting knobbly tyres. Awesome fun!

Hi..i have the 1/8 porshe 959..esc does not work..I see GoolRc have 120A combos for sale on ebay, but they uses 3670 2850kv motor..Do you think i can use that one..i don`t understand all of this brushless system..If you know if is safe to use, please answear..Thank you from Norway..

Hi Jan, I bought mine second hand too and the esc was knackered. So I went about fitting my own electrics anyway. I've fitted a 3800kv 3660 motor and TSky 120A esc to mine, it's given no issues at all and runs really really well on either 2 or 3S (with a 10t pinion). It might be a bit of a tight squeeze to fit in a 70mm motor, but if you did manage to fit one in then at that kv rated motor you're looking at then I'd certainly always run it on 3S. The higher the kv number, the more revolutions-per-volt the motor will do, so for example you fit the 2650kv and run a 7.4v Lipo, it will spin at (2650 x 7.4) 19610 revs. Run that motor on 3S lipo and it'll reep (2650 x 11.1) 29415 revs... A nice difference. I use a 120A esc purely because I know it can easily handle running a 3S Lipo, offroad too. I've raced the 959 on and offroad with never any problems. I have seen a 2850kv 3670 motor on ebay a while back, but not seen them since. There's around 10mm gap between the end of my 3660 motor and the chassis bracing over the steering arm. Hope that helps!

Hiya, in the both the Viper and 959 I used 100,000wt in the centre diffs, the tyres on the 959 were bought through ebay: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Newest-4PCS-85mmm-High-Grip-Rubber-Tyre-For-RC1-10-Buggy-Off-Road-Car-Black/182658717988?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 and the Viper's were these at the time: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/For-1-10-TRAXXAS-Slash-RC-Car-4X-Bead-Lock-Short-Course-Truck-Tires-Wheel-Rim/391758113735?_trkparms=ao%3D1%26asc%3D20170912101845%26meid%3D190d3d3b426343ce8cc170ac98062201%26pid%3D100705%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26&_trksid=p2045573.c100705.m4780 (just copy the links into ebay, hope they work!)

Craggle RC many thanks, That’s what I have put in mine, not tried it yet, just want to lose some of that understeer but not make it too twitchy, I’m sure thicker oil would make it hard to drive, I have ordered the wheels, just got to get the tires.

Craggle RC Hi thanks for the link, I just bought the tires, you been very helpful.

No probs matey! (the 959) They work well on a short-grassy track. I've found the 100,000wt centre diff oil help no end, beforehand it would spin up the front wheels quite easily over the rears, the thick oil has helped give it the effective planted 4WD. It scoots off the line and out from bends with positive effect.

They're great aren't they! A few little changes can really help it offroad. And changing the motor has made it terrific fun.
