with 10k+ hours of gameplay i enjoyed my time with ESO but iv moved on to ffxiv. i feel like they listen to the community when they stay stuff not just influencers. i dont like the attitudes of Gina Bruno and Rich Lambert who cany take real constructive criticism and i think its time for them to go they have done what they needed to and now they are stagnant and have crappy attitudes try to silence or publicly shame anyone who disagrees they are part of whats poisoning the games health. theres not enough classes in the game some of the classes need a MAJOR rework i dont mean like 2 spells changed i man whole skill lines gone the fact you can take storm fire and ice from 3 classes and make a whole new class should be done and should be the sorcerer and the sorcerer should be renamed to conjurer. illusion and alteration magic could have classes we need more ranged weapons magic and non we should have more melee weapons a new engine theres so many things this game should do but wont

I'm a CP3000+ player, PVE and PVP, started in 2016, have taken a couple big breaks and returned, etc. I'm seeing myself playing ESO much less in 2025. I already canceled ESO+ and have stopped doing all end game PVE content and left all my end game guilds. I'll still log on regularly and help out my trading guild because they're good people. But ZOS really disappointed me in 2024 and nothing in the 2025 is anything I find myself really looking forward to. I do not have high hopes about ZOS' plans for cyro, especiafter the recent battlegrouds changes. PVP has been one thing keeping me around but ZoS seems to be losing sight of what makes cyro distinct from PVP in other MMO, so I am quite pessimistic tbh

Weapon swapping isn't a turn off because of having to swap weapons. It's a turn off because all you're doing is swapping weapons to reapply buffs or debuffs. It just feels like an extra unnecessary keypress the vast majority of the time instead of an impactful swap. SOMETIMES you swap because you need range instead of melee, that always feels fine.
GW2 has weapon swaps, very few people complain about that because there's a tangible impact in swapping weapons.

Great informative vid, nice job! 😊👍 As a strictly solo player coming from Skyrim and previous games, I was hesitant about jumping into ESO because of the whole MMO aspect. The thought of needing other people when I'm antisocial was terrifying. 🤣 Thankfully I can confirm that a solo player does not need to worry about that side of it at all, if they don't want to.
As for value for money: I bought ESO at Christmas time about 2 years back when it was on sale for a ridiculously low price, and played (solo) for an entire year before making a second character, that's how much stuff there is to do. For anyone wanting a Skyrim fix before ES6 comes out (whenever that will be), ESO is the perfect place to be, solo or social ;)
I am a bit dubious about their proposed changes this year regarding "seasonal content" and whatnot, we'll have to wait and see I guess. I suppose it's good (and necessary) to change things, to try and keep as many folks happy as possible. I hope it all works out for everyone; after Skyrim it became my favourite game.
Thanks for all the vids and articles Hack!👍 I'd absolutely love to see some more builds from you using craftable-only sets; as someone who has had no luck with guilds or in-game friends to help farm more complex higher level gear, I'd love to see you tackle some more builds for solo players like myself who cant access that stuff. You da bomb! 😁👍💚

Thank you for doing this video! I've been a long time player since the beta, even have my Monkey pet ;) You do some really awesome build crafting and I'd even bought the guide at one point. I will say ESO is in the best place it's ever been with all the changes over time. Class builds are awesome but I still would like to see more. The arcanist was incredible but it takes forever for them to release new ones. As far as the DLC's and add ons, I typically will run one character through one of them just to do story and typically then shelf the game til the next one. The daily stuff feels hollow and i loathe PVP, in fact with the last huge changes to PVP in battlegrounds our guild doesn't even touch it anymore. Cryodil is just a quick trip to check on the Golden weekly is about it. At any rate. I do enjoy the work you put in and the sharing of information! Incredible! Our guild is small and we meet once a week to run dungeons and possibly do the golden pursuit requirments. Fun stuff! Overall I'm torn somewhat as you've discussed, it's fun but something does feel fairly stale and doesn't keep my interest all that long. I do sub and like I said do once a week so getting my money's worth for sure! Cheaper than going to a movie! :) I did the quick math as was curious how much I've played, did the /play with each character... over 2200 hours. OK, I need a life! Hahhahaha.

It will definitely be interesting to see how ESO continues in the future. 10+ years is a LONG time for an MMO to survive.
I trust ESO to continue fine. I'm honestly more interested in hearing about ZOSs next MMO. With who they've hired it looks like it could be what I always hoped Destiny 2 would be (a shooter that actually has regular MMO elements.)

I think it's better to play other elder scroll games before going to ESO. I played Skyrim, liked the lore, liked the elder scroll world, so I got into ESO for more lores, however dont expect ESO to just works like other elder scroll like Skyrim, it's a bit different.
If you choose to go in: Start small and just explore. Disregard the ESO Plus, you're just a new player getting a feel for the game, ESO Plus is for advanced users. Do claim the ESO Plus trials that Bethesda give out sometimes, 7 days of 95% access to the game.
The game mechanics is generally friendly, for a new player. The longer you play the game and seek out ways to become stronger the more you can do, naturally. Just relax and no rush, ESO is not a fast game.

I enjoyed every TES game from Morrowind upwards and now I have them all in one, you can go to Cyrodil, Skyrim, Morrowind, Esweyr, Valenwood, Murkmire, Daggerfall, Alik’r, Orsinium (basically any race territory) plus new regions. There are pros and cons like everywhere but all in all it’s pretty enjoyable game.

If the releases are like that in scale and story telling, I'll be really pleased. Exact same here. I've cancelled my eso plus for the first time in years and years. The game became skyrim online and is no longer the mmo it once was. Through greed for money from casual players or sheer incompetence from the devs they've moved away from the type of game they started with to this bland aggressively monetised "hybrid". The devs and management should be told that a game for everyone is a game for no one. It'll never be the next single player skyrim the casuals are hoping for and it certainly isn't the mmo it claims to be. All their casual players will abandon ship as soon as the elder scrolls 6 comes out... maybe even when gta 6 comes out.

Inventory can become a none issue once bank is upgraded, bag space upgraded, mount upgraded, chests earned for home. Basically play the game a bit.
If you know ten buddies, you can make a guild bank and have an instant 500 separate bank space from your personal. Just fill that up with crafting mats with everyone else. I don't have but four friends that play, but I logged in with my two kids and other separate accounts to join my guild. 500 space only used by four to share. Fastest way to open space honestly.

it has tons of quest and content which is just "oh I died because.. loot my ... return it to.. thanks!!"

I've played eso for at least 1,000 hours as well, and I gotta say, Im pretty mixed. There are def better chapters than others, but if you played out of order (like anyone who didn't pick up the game day 1 did) it messes up the timeline of whose dead/wait I already know you, why don't you know me? Combat could be better. Needs impact, but I solely stay for proc armor effects. The main chapter quests are slowly getting more "meh" and the only thing keeping me around is oddly enough housing and endevours. But I could break that cycle easily whenever a better game comes out soon. But there's no lying, there's TONS of stuff in game to do.

Started about a week before the Halloween festival. Now I'm almost 800cp and have 4 characters that can solo group dungeons.
My opinion might be biased since I have 2 friends(+3000cp) that quit about 2 months before I started that made me leveling gear and got me started. So my leveling 1-cp160 was super fast and painless
Also, ESO plus is required(for me). Many people like myself are hoarders.
I'd say the game is an 8.5/10. Always room to improve, but it's come a long way since 2015.

I think this game still has something that makes it feel more like an RPG still than most mmorpgs. That's despite load screens etc, even if I think zones are big either way. I think if you love exploring and appreciating environmental detail, npc ambience etc, this game is actually very good. The weakness is definitely the melee combat especially, as well as character models badly needing an update. I think these things will be difficult for them but I hope they manage.
Also I can't not say I'm not worried about seasons, because I am somebody that really hates when something becomes too systemic, which seasons nearly always will. But I won't leave a final judgment until it's here. The way it is now, I think only GW2 is a competitor in how friendly it is to getting in and out of the game once you've started.

13:44 I've been playing on and off since the beta, the combat is half way between action and tab targetting, light and heavy attacks attack in a cone in front of you instead of where the weapon is attacking, and most combat abilities require a target to activate, even if they are melee single target abilities.

I been playing this game solo and cannot even tell I'm in an MMO! LOL!!! I feel like it's an offline single player ES. And the difficulty is perfect, and I would never know it's an MMO if no one told me. As long as you have a companion, you're good to go. Without one, it does get pretty tough from time to time, especially in dungeons.

I've got a bit over 4000 hours between Xbox and PC since 2017, about 3750 on Xbox and 250 on PC. I've only accumulated the 250 hours on PC in the last year, took some very long breaks trying BDO, FF14 and New World.
While your video did a good job mentioning what's in ESO, I didn't get a feeling that you answered the "should you play" part, there weren't too many pros and cons in your descriptions. Sorry ahead of time but this is going to be long.
    * BDO has extremely fun combat but the story quests and lore are thin, the end game is all grind beside the few dungeons. The controller layout is pretty good with many combos and playstyles. The grind is why I stopped playing BDO after over 10k hours between Xbox and PC, although you can make gold being AFK overnight fishing or crafting. There are plenty of activities in BDO, like building a ship and heading out to defeat sea monsters, farming, gathering, cooking, alchemy, etc. Most of the crafting feels better than ESO.
    * I like the FF14 story quests but I just can't get used to the controller layout with way too many skills. It is nice to have NPC companions to go through dungeons, especially the first time.
    * New World Aeternum is fun, the skills are limited and I don't think there are any combos. The combat is simple but you feel like you really connect when you hit and you feel and hear the damage you take, with the voice acting providing the yells and grunts. I've only played about 14 hours and I'm not sure I'll play for long but I might get into it after I level up more. The lore is interesting and appears to combine Atlantis with King Arthur legends at my stage. Crafting and gathering is the most complex os the MMOs I mentioned. I love the sound that chopping a tree or breaking a boulder makes and you can hear other players in the distance felling trees and watching them fall in the distance. You can join 1 company (guild) that is aligned with a faction (alliance) to play PvP, wars and some free for all arena like combat.
*Finally, I love the story quests in ESO, I like the crafting but leveling crafting and research is extremely long and expensive to get 9 traits. Leveling horses is painfully long and slow. The combat is clunky, melee doesn't feel connected while staves do feel like you are connecting. I hate being blinded by tacky mounts, pets, and costumes as well as the loud sounds of the dark anchor effect and dwemer mirror mount.
Switching to PC from Xbox on BDO was very quick to level and grind, so many different classes with unique playstyles. Switching to PC from Xbox on ESO has been slow, I want at least 1 character to finish the MSQ but I'm still working through Coldharbour on my main. I don't know when I'll get working on the other chapters and DLC. Right now one alt is only level 7 on Antiquities and I'm not looking forward to scribing, even if I start it. I did start in High Isle when we had the tutorial with all the portals.
Without add-ons, getting the mages guild leveled is slow. Few want to grind out the Psijic skill line on more than one character. Scribing looks like a grind, especially for the scripts. Antiquities is a slow grind so you have the best chance at mythics. As an old gamer who's first console was a VIC20, then a Jaguar 64, I don't think I really need these grindy new features to do the story quests.
While I have pointed out many of the things I don't like about ESO, I still play it and enjoy going in to play. I will probably get to the chapters eventually, maybe with an alt in each chapter/DLC alongside a companion. My main will finish the Cadwell silver & gold but just craft after that.
I used to play Destiny 1 & 2, BDO and ESO with my spouse but she gave those all up. I would love to duo some more dungeons but I can't pull her away from Dead by Daylight. I'll probably find a guild that isn't trying too hard to be the best and maybe I can slog through some end game PvE and maybe even some PvP.

Some of the side quests are more epic than the main! If I could post a picture of the symbol here I would. Each area has a "main quest". The first three alliance have a lengthy main quests. Then the dlcs follow. No certain order needed, but there are suggestions of a main quest line path that you can look up online.

@@sebsch4081 This game is still actively receiving graphical updates from the developer in that 10 years too. Your argument is seriously one of the worst simp takes I've seen on the Internet in recent times. ESO anymore is just ZoS' milking farm for filthy casuals. Jfc, just stop it, bro.

Eso has some cool features. And over the last 10 years it reported to make over two billion dollars. It just seems like they could of made it even better. Not to mention the staff that put in the blood, sweat and tears only to unionise because they felt the directors were unfair. Its not uncommon in the games industry in America though. Would I come back? I don't pvp. Improving that area of the game doesn't mean much to me. If the pve and the way the auction house works(two weeks down from four just breaks that system for me anyway) sure I would look into it. However breaking the current content model does do give me hope.

ESO is not Pay 2 Win. If you disagree I urge you to play Fly For Fun where a player market allows the exchange of in-game currency for cash shop items, or try Tales of Wind where if you don't buy it you can't get it, and if you don't have it you lose 100% of the time to those that do.
ESO does good with it's Cash Shop. Needs more cosmetics outside of crates. That will never stop. ;)

Re leveling to level 50, I just realized there is a way to do that in just one hour. Maybe it's obvious to others, but I've been playing this game since 2016, and I didn't realize this works until I tried it last week. This is for players that have multiple characters already leveled. What I did is unlock & level to 50 alchemy, provisioning, and enchanting (see alcast for how to do that quickly). You build up a large number of provisioning, alchemy, and enchanting master writs by doing daily writs on your leveled characters (or you can buy them). Then on your new character, do all those master writs, for example, running back and forth in Mournhold, Deshaan. Try to level during an XP event, and use a 150% scroll if you have one.

Sunk hundreds of hours and dollars into it over five years with no regrets. But it just got a bit repetitive. The stories and NPC dialogues were the best I have ever had in my 40 years as a gamer. However the actual tasks of each new storyline role-out and side missions just felt rehashed while being hidden in great storytelling. I just faded off of the game in 2022. I also hated the fact that I could not truly help my friends get through their story progression missions, as you can in Diablo IV. You just awkwardly wait while they disappear for a while into a part you already completed. So your being a bad-ass templar trying to help your low-level buddies becomes pointless. Dungeons & free-roaming or nothing at all. Too much money spent to not have that kind of multiplayer freedom in PVE. But still probably one of the best MMO's I have ever played.

I jumped back in and i just cant get back into it. Even with a new toon its the same you complete all zones and then there is nothing to do. The same dailies, the same writs there is nothing new. I got bored after 1 day. Which sucks as someone who has played this game for ages. These new updates sound horrible i mean sure pretty graphics and some quality of life but its really adding nothing new.

I would say ESO is still the best game on the market for questing and is also great for exploring and open world content. I also think the dungeons are really good.
If you’re looking for an MMO for PvP or raiding, I would look elsewhere. This game is never going to have smooth combat or balanced combat systems, and I doubt they will ever fix the performance issues in cyrodiil.

I don't doubt that Relequen is still the meta armor for dps. Not to mention the predatory mxt and really obnoxious mount system as well as another "Oh no it's another Daedric prince taking over the world" or "Oh no it's a powerful cult" storylines.

Stop playing two years ago. I played ESO with my wife from day one on. The game feels empty now. Only the last chapter seems to have players. Most of Tamriel is empty. They made the game to easy so that you don't need other players for anything enymore. Since the zones levels to your current level, it robbed the game of all sense of progression. I remember whwn you needed others to even just finish sky anchors. It was fun and you met people who were doing the same quests as you or the same public dungions. Now everyone just plays solo and it really sucks! Also combat is just so laggy and clunky. After playing other games I just can't get back into it. I have over 4000 hours in the game and I ahd amzing times in the game. But making the game to easy (for new player the claim...) made the game not rewarding and just booring. There is no sense of progression anymore. And housing is just not an endgame element worthy of my time....
