Back here to rewatch one of my favorite races of my childhood. Scott starts from pole on Sunday for the 106th Indy 500. I'll be at the track decked out in Dixon gear hoping for that 2nd win! Let's get it Scott!
"At times, I do feel invincible but - at the end of the day - if your time's up, your time's up. If you've got to go, you've got to go.." "Do I believe it can happen to me? No. COULD it happen to me? Absolutely." Quotes by Dan Wheldon 1:19:00-1:20:00
wow being a kiwi, so proud of Scott so cool under preasure, with team mates like Dario and Dan {RIP} all Champions in their own right, ''Go get him' they reckon easier said, than done.
Who would've thought at this point that this would be the only time that Scott Dixon won the Indy 500? He won 5 championships and exactly 40 races since then but never managed to win another Indy 500.
Second place could have won but did the right thing. Carnage of drivers and cars is no way to end a race. They all live to race another day. That's the best way to finish a race!! Congrats to all. That race was awesome...
him and scott goodyear. I couldnt stand either of them, especially Goodyear. hes so mellowdramatic... Its crazy what a difference a good commentator can bring to the overall value to the overall production.
Can Scotty do it again in 2023??? Really hope so, such a great person, driver and ambassador for Lil ol NZ! GO SCOTTY ❤🎉😅 Wishing you all the best, Auck, NZ
@@AndyFromBeaverton It's not like a movie you have never watched even if it's 50 years old and you rightfully don't want it to be spoiled, it's a freakin 16 years old race that anybody with an ounce of interest in IndyCar racing most likely knows the winner of.

Sorry man lol
I pick him to win most every year! He's so good there - hard to believe he only has the one win

Quotes by Dan Wheldon 1:19:00-1:20:00
Rest In Peace Dan Wheldon🥺😢🙏✝️
Shit is deep
That was quite an ironic moment.
I’ve been rewatching several of these races..and I will have to save they’ve aged well. Good on IMS for making them available.
1:21:00 haunting...
Once I heard him say that I was like “Oh god....” and started to tear up a little.
Wow I have no words to say but wow
Rest In Peace Dan Wheldon🥺😢🙏✝️
This guy is awesome, I have been following him for years,

3:50:40 Victor Meira what a move!
Fun fact: Marty Roth's car for this race is the car Wheldon won the 500 with three years after this.
Awesome Scott, love see you winning the Indy you are my number one favorite driver also Danica.
As a newer IndyCar fan that was an amazing race. Also That theme music at the start is amazing, goosebumps all over.
RIP Justin Wilson... RIP John Andretti...
RIP Dan Wheldon
Second place could have won but did the right thing. Carnage of drivers and cars is no way to end a race. They all live to race another day. That's the best way to finish a race!! Congrats to all. That race was awesome...
I watched this one from the westside of Baghdad on the Armed Forces Network (AFN)
1:19:19 no words.
Yikes
It's soooo good to know Mary Reid is not doing any races anymore I'm so glad he's out
him and scott goodyear. I couldnt stand either of them, especially Goodyear. hes so mellowdramatic... Its crazy what a difference a good commentator can bring to the overall value to the overall production.
1:17:06 Drivers discussions and thoughts about the dangers of this sport (Dan Wheldon is included)
This was the first unified Indianapolis 500 since 1995.
In what way? Chip Ganassi came back in 2000, Penske in 2001, and Andretti around then as well.
1:21:00 Jeez man...
Can Scotty do it again in 2023??? Really hope so, such a great person, driver and ambassador for Lil ol NZ!
GO SCOTTY ❤🎉😅

This is the year that Scott Dixon nails it
Anybody know what the first Indy 500 in HD was? Just curious.
2007 was the first "HD" broadcast but the on-boards were still 4:3.
2008 was the first time the full show was shown in full 16:9.

@@sybanzothompson9711 Really. Wow thats awesome

These generation engines sounded so good
1:30:52, Flyover
Hated the music at the breaks. Just go to commercial and get back to the coverage.
I wonder who's going to win this race??? Who puts the winner of an event on the freaking thumbnail?
It's a 2008 race, for fuck's sake. There's nothing to spoil.
@@C3rb3ruS_88 Nothing to spoil? If you haven't watched it, then it has been spoiled.

Guard should have let Danica go and say her piece that would have been fun to watch
1:29:06
That move by Marco Andretti was the dumbest of his career
Milka even crashes slow.
Amazing that Meira never won a race.
rip dan wheldon
Glad we don't have Eddie Cheever on the broadcasts these days.

Another year where an aggressive Andretti screws his team.
Was the worst year of my life lol but it's all good now

The years of boredom of Eddie Cheever began
