Your use of pencil to paint with is really innovative and I think I will be using it a lot. I also liked the use of a pallet knife to apply masking fluid. Combining all of these techniques into one demo is a pedagogical masterwork...very nicely done.
I thought- I already know all these techniques. Wrong! I learned something new from each of your demos. This whole series was so well done. Hope you’ll do more. 👏👏
Alright I'll take that, thank you! And yes, I'm planning on continuing to do more series here on TH-cam, I think that format is very helpful for getting results as a learner.
Thank you so much for sharing your expertise with us. I was a professional human portraitist decades ago. However, now I am learning to do portraits of my rehab Raccoons who are individually recognizable to myself & their fans amongst my subscribers. Which is a whole different skill set to capture. I did several in pen 🖋 and successfully captured their individual features so they were recognizable & deferentiated from the others 🦝
I have watched all of the lessons in this series and decided to paint the "funky fish" while going through the videos as one tutorial. I think you made some bold decisions with color choices as compared to the reference image which resulted in an awesome goldfish! Good job! I also loved hearing your accent which reminded me of the 25 years I lived in Michigans U.P., although you sound more Minnesotoan. Thanks for the time and energy you brought to this series.......that was a lot of work on your part.
This was such a thoughtful comment, thank you! Yes I am from Minnesota! I hope you had fun and learned a few things along the way with your funky fish!
❤ once again a giant Thank You for another inspiring tutorial. While watching it I realized that I was happily smiling 😊. So many techniques that I want to have fun experimenting with. As far as I am concerned, the only wasted sheet of watercolor paper is an unpainted one. Thank you for inspiring me to have fun experimenting while painting ❤
So much fun! I just received my “offical aquila” scraper yesterday and am excited to put it to work as I’ve ruined too many-cheap but still… brushes LOL
Yes I always get a bit nervous cause you don’t have a lot of control! Covering the portion you don’t want splattered with some scratch paper is my go to.

New achievement unlocked, pedagogical master! 😊😊😊
