❤ Thank you so very much. You are an amazing instructor. As a side note: your calming voice and serene tutorials are just what I need in a time of high stress (I live in beautiful Southern California near the raging fires where people have lost their homes 😢). Time to find a little joy in painting.
I really like it that most of your videos are in real time. I’ve seen so many tutorials where they would speed up time and then i catch myself rushing my process of painting . You are awesome im enjoying every lesson
Thank you! I am hoping to balance a good pace with one that is easy to follow. It helps that you can always pause, rewind, and adjust the speed here on TH-cam too!
Watched while eating my cereal. Now time to sit down and add to my funky fish which is progressing nicely. Thank you so much. Your videos are excellent. Love the examples and demos. Looking forward to next steps. ❤
You have the patience and steadiness of a saint! One thing that affects lifting in glazing is the staining quality of the underlying color. For example, I find that Windsor blue, also known as phthalo blue, is a highly staining color, while something like burnt sienna tends to lift quite a bit when it is glazed.
Another great video. I love glazing and negative painting. I do have an odd question. I also use cotton rags to dab my brush on and an old car wash sponge that is my favorite. LIke yours they get very dirty. I wash them once in a while, but I always worry that the paint on the clothes will get my brush dirty and will transfer to my paintings if I don't keep my rags nice and clean. I notice that great artists on TH-cam seem to not be bothered at all by dirty paint rags or paper towels. Can you comment on this? Just wonderin'. Am I too OCD? Most likely I am. My pallets are fairly dirty but I do rinse them off occasionally in my sink.
I consider myself a messy painter, and embracing that has allowed me to just be a happy artist. But I don't think we all process everything the same - maybe you feel more comfortable in an ordered environment. If you feel better when you sit down to paint with a clean palette and fresh blotting towel, then I think that's exactly what you need to do!
You're a great teacher! Thank you.

Oh Kathy you are in my prayers. That fire looks just devastating. I'm glad you are finding some refuge in painting.

Yes right on! Thank you for sharing this!
Thank you for the tip about glazing in one pass and then tapping pigment in if needed as I struggle with lifting the dried color is glazing over.
Oh yay! I'm so glad you found that helpful.
Can’t wait to watch your new video!!!

I’m playing catch up, but I’m really enjoying the lessons and appreciate you sharing your knowledge!
