Apart from Usman, when Leon fought another swarming pressure wrestler in Belal, he was dribbling Belal's head like a basketball before the eye poke, his ability to fight well on the back foot is something impressive

Belol is more one dimensional than Colby. Colby mixes a plethora of strikes to mask his takedowns, Belol moves forward with pathetic "strikes" like drunkard on a Saturday night not in full control of his body trying to fight a bouncer. Leon is going to struggle with Colby

    • @fizzyfiz6951

@@dude9038 Colby's striking entries stink. He dips his head and doesn't even look at his opponent sometimes.. plus, he has no power in his strikes. He's going up against a sniper of a counter striker.

@@dude9038lol that's a stupid take. Colby entries are woeful. He easily gets caught Usman and masvidal landed flush. Colby isn't some elite grappler . He plods along and relies on cardio

I feel like whoever is getting the better of the clinch wins this. If Colby can constantly shoot and press against the fence he wins. If Leon keeps catching Colby dipping and landing strikes from lowered posture he'll do enough to win the rounds.

I think if Colby can really up the tempo and put an aggressive pace on Leon from the start... I think he might get it done. Problems in 25 minutes fight? Every 5 round fight he has dominated except the two fights against marty. Leon struggled to and he wasn't in "control" as you mentioned! Colby is a much better 5 round fighter thanks to his cardio, if he gets his game going leon wont stand a chance.

I keep hearing people cite his cardio as reasons he’ll win but what about his technical skills? This isn’t Colby of 2 years ago when he was last active. Unless he’s a freak of nature and defies even the prototypical aging patterns of fighters under 205 pounds, his age is now a liability statistically. It’s interesting your point is Leon will need to make room using grappling. But what about the simple fact he LITERALLY has room at distance and a significant range advantage? He’s multiple inches out of reach of Colby and Leon is levels above Colby at controlling said distance. You’re acting like Leon has no control for how Colby enters boxing range and that’s a mistake IMO. I’ll eat humble pie if proven wrong but I’m genuinely trying to see it your way. Colby must take huge risks to weaponize his skills. Leon’s physical advantages best suit his existing expertise as a striking tactician. I’m not currently seeing how that now means automatically Leon will be in some grapple heavy contest. The last time we got to see how Colby dealt with a strike heavy guy where he’d have to hop scotch into grapple fighting was… take a guess…
I’m not even going to say Jorge as I don’t think it’s fair to consider him a classic kickboxer or technical striker. And he hasn’t won a fight in four years.
If you’d like, you can say Lawler. But that was +1,000 days ago. And Robbie 1-4 in his last 5. So that’s out.
Ppl are not looking at this man’s resume. Before Robbie he had RDA, Maia, and Hyun Kim. He hasn’t really fought a striker anywhere NEAR their prime since freakin Barberena on the prelim card of Vanzant headlined event and Sage Northcutt in the 2nd fight. Think about how long that’s been.
And now he’s literally fighting an awkward kickboxer with a strong MT base who happens to have just usurped one of the greatest in the division’s history who already beat Colby himself 2x where Colby has only ever won 3 rounds unanimously against across a possible 9.

I think Leon will come with a confidence he hasn’t quite shown to this point. He’s going to be more aggressive and on the attack because he knows if he doesn’t then Colby will. Leon is a much better fighter than Colby and I feel like he’s going to be intent on showing it. Maybe I’m just hoping or be optimistic but I feel like this going to be the fight that gets him the respect he’s deserved all along.

@@Benjamin-hp8mw I don’t know what you are saying or if you are disagreeing with me or Dan. I don’t think Colby is a better striker than Usman and he’s damn sure not better than Leon!! Colby is aggressive but I think Leon will shut that down relatively quickly and start hurting Colby. If you are saying Colby is overrated then I agree. More than that he never fights and he hasn’t been exposed against a striker like Leon who is also bigger and stronger than Colby. I honestly don’t think Colby is really that confident. He most likely got this fight in some weird deal he made. Maybe he saw something he shouldn’t have. I would guess it was Chael’s weekly cock sucking duties of Dana. lol jk not really.

Establish the jab. Double jab to close the distance then uppercut when Colby shoots and it’s wraps. Many ways I see Leon sleeping Colby. Also I can see it similar to how Pereria did Jiri. Something short on the inside then stuffing the take down and ending up on top.

Leon got out-grappled in Usman 1 but then had no issues in Usman 2, was that because of Leon's mental/skill improvements or Usman's drop off? This makes me not know how well he'll do against Colby's grappling for a potential 25 minutes...

Another great breakdown Dan. Would love to see more clinch work for Leon. Colby doesn’t fight there often. Leon has nasty knees and elbows. Might be able to use that to get some wrestling chances. Colby wants to melt Leon and break his will. Leon needs to not back up. Stay off the fence and don’t be afraid to clinch and wrestle with Colby.

I'll need to watch it back but remember Leon reversing Usman in a lot of the clinches against the cage & being able to getting back up when he did get taken down.
