Nice work getting the old toonami intro music That seriously needs added to the cannon Always having that as the opening gets a person hyped for an old show from 1979😂
Wow! This really grabs me emotionally. You must be from Toonami’s first generation of kids from back in the day. Because you got the vibe down perfectly in your editing. This legit seems like one of the bumpers right before a shows episode would start right after Moltar or then Tom would be done talking. Your awesome! Reminds me of good times back in the day.
Thank you so much! I was born in 96, so some of my earliest memories is watching Cartoon Network in the early 2000s. Not to mention, I had two older brothers who were into anime, so we always watched anime VHS tapes from Suncoast videos and blockbuster that had the promos on it. The song I used in this video is actually taken from the Toonami version of the Gundam opening. Someone managed to find it on a DVD menu and ripped it. Really makes all the difference.
@RetroRoboBoy Used to have some old Gundam VHS tapes. I'm only nineteen and I already missed the good old days. I'm not sure if that's just sad or what.
For as much as I love Gundam, it will forever be a niche cult classic here. Political war dramas that focus on plot over characters rarely reach as many people as character centric titles like classic shounen anime.
@@wolfman210if i remember correctly i read an interview with the toonami producers that they wanted to bring after war x and turn a over but sunrise/bandai basically said no, but you can do 0079 though
I believe you're right. I started watching Toonami towards the end of Wing's run and mostly knew Gundam through Mobile Fighter G Gundam. I liked G Gundam but I'll never forget the night I saw Char's Counterattack on Adult Swim. Wanted more U.C. than any other show on the block. Sadly, that didn't happen.
There are 3 ways i’d like to see a 0079 remake, the style of 8th MS team as seen in the video, modern 2D like gundam narrative or gundam the origin continuation
@@caramelcandysHave not seen narrative yet, put Unicorn on the back burner, however the origin and 8th ms team ideas could both work, 8th is more faithful to the original Gundam where as origin has different events that did not happen or that happened differently than originally intended.
I could be down for a remake too! But only if they keep Brad Swalle as the English voice of Amuro Ray. There's just no one else like him to fit the role. Just like Toru Furuya is still voicing Amuro in Japan, it would be a crime for him not to keep voicing him.
I understand wanting to keep the original untouched--but I personally would LOVE to see the original series remade with newer animation and updated scripts. I'm also surprised a live action film hasn't come out for this franchise yet (not counting the Gundam in "Ready Player One", which is an awesome moment).
Thanks for all the likes guys! I am currently working on a Universal Century Retrospective with a BIG surprise twist. I think yall are gonna love it. Should be out next week!
Anyone know the name of the theme being used in this promo? I know its a remixed version of Kyuchi ni Tatsu Gundam but i can't find on TH-cam or any Toonami related forums.
If only bandai would have redone the anime like this Gundam popularity would have become big. What games were the scenes from i play journey to jaburo and encounter in Espace
It’s the toonami remix of the Gundam OST track titled ‘Danger!’. I downloaded it like seven years ago, I can’t remember where. I just know someone ripped a clean version from one of the old Gundam DVDs.
These are reanimated scenes from the PlayStation 2 video games, Journey to Jaburo and Encounters in Space. The game used 2D hand drawn cutscenes when retelling the story. There’s about 20 minutes worth of footage.
I wish they'd remake 0079. Likebthe way they did cucuruz doans island. But just make it 2 seasons of like 25 episodes and really add details and the newer lore to it to flesh it out

It aired in 2001. Sadly due to 9/11, Toonami didn't air the series in it's entirety--I want to say they left off somewhere in the upper 30s (probably on or around 36/37 out of 42 available--skipped episode 15 for dub release). Supposedly some of the rest were aired many months (3-9 months or so) after it got dropped.
@@TheKentucky777 That was CN's terrible mistake. They should've commissioned Bandai-Sunrise to co-fund an exclusive follow-up to Gundam Wing EW or at least a prequel to it. First Gundam 0079 is too 70s and dated for Gen-X & Y to absorb. There was no excuse for them to co-produced new material. Toonami helped co-produced a second season for Big-O. This should be no different.
This is great, they're talking a little too much and too quickly. I even checked my playback speed because some times I watch videos at x1.5 or x2 speed.
How come the 90s animation version can’t be on Netflix? I know it’s still fine to watch the 80s two-hour movies (3 of them), but this 90s animation looks good!
Oh these scenes were from a game. Maybe you understand that already and are just saying it’s a shame it doesn’t exist but yeah there is no 90’s version for Netflix to have. That being said the episodes are also available on crunchy roll if you can handle the old animation for more than 7-hours. Zeta is there too finally and looks worlds better than the original MSG.
@@MrDarthvis yes. Amuro is awesome. I also enjoy his interactions with Kamille in Zeta. CCA is an incredible work of art too. I bought my son the RX-78 and Nu Gundam models last time I was in Japan. He’s still assembling the latter
I’ll add, the original MSG-78 is incredible. I prefer the long format to the movies. A ton of strategy and depth of characterization had to be lost and of course the deaths hit harder
I watched gundam 0079 for the first time last year. I was truly dumbfounded. It was like watching a first draft. It needs many rewrites. There is a diamond in the rough. Instead of 50 episodes, condense to 30.
If you guys loved this promo, be sure to check out my Zeta Gundam one!
