That's really the main reason why Five Guys gets more flack. I legit only have like 2 Shake Shacks in my whole state and both are well over 2 hours away whereas there's a Five Guys 7 minutes away.
I've had both and after actually seeing what Shake Shack costs, I realized I judged Five Guys too harshly (food was kinda mid too).

I think Five Guys catches more flack for being overpriced just because there or more of them than Shake Shack. There are about 10 Five Guys between me and the nearest Shake Shack.
As a religious five guys hater i can agree theres at least 4 or 5 Five guys within 30 minutes of me but the closest shake shack is over 2 hours away
I think it’s something different. Shake Shack somehow seems a little more one-of-kind, its own tasty thing, vs five guys being kinda like a diner or backyard burger you’ve had before.

my bf , mom and i went to shake shack yesterday with my nephew. a hot dog, 6 nuggets, 2 milks shakes , 3 burgers and 3 fries were $79 😮💨 they definitely are overpriced 😂 but it is pretty good but not $14 a burger good lol.

I had Shack Shake for the first time last week and I can say it's pricey but they from what I ordered had a pretty good burger.
I think it's close to being the same as Red Robin not Five Guys.
And from them saying they don't add a burger pattie to the grill cheese they now have a Patty Melt for limited time and I went on Wednesday.

Every shake shack I’ve been to has been in more upscale areas like corporate or downtown areas with a high population of professionals which could explain the strategy for pricing. It’s a solid chain but for the price I much rather have five guys or even a steakhouse burger for the quality and customization.

I dont find 5guys to be overpriced at all. I go and get a little cheeseburger because 1 patty does me fine. a little burger with tax where I live is 8.05. I open the mcdonalds app and a QPC is 7.49. I will spend the extra 50 cents to have a fresh burger.
Your 5 guys is underpriced and mcdonalds is overpriced. A little cheeseburger is 8.79 dollars here and a qpc is 5.89. Before tax.
Add fries and it gets expensive quickly
@@kolchak357 I mean a small fry and 5 guys is 5.09 cents, and if we use Mcdonalds again, I would honestly consider 5 guys small to be atleast a Mcdonalds medium if not a large. and on my Mcdonalds app the medium is 4.49. So honestly not that much. after tax a little cheese burger and small fry is about 15 dollars. as oppsoed to Mcdonalds where if you get those individually comes out to a little under 14.

I know Shake Shack makes their own custard/ice cream in-house and they do use the custard method to make them, or at least I think they do. They get my respect as they make it in-house too (at least that's what they say on their site). But I think the reason why their shakes are a little different is because they use their own custard, which is egg and milk based, rather than cream. It makes for a "fuller," more "eggy" taste rather than the "clean" taste you get if they were just using cream, which I admit takes some getting used to. I didn't like them at first either, but I love them now, though. I'm the odd ball when it comes to Five Guy's fries - I don't like them. They're not crispy as I think fries should be. Yeah, they're seasoned, but I think I've said before I like tasting the flavor of the potato. There's a sweetness to them that drowns out whenever you put too much salt. Also, because of my past diets, weight loss journey (I used to be 320lbs and I'm 185lbs now) and recommendations from my doctor. This weight loss journey started maybe like 6 years ago and I'm still going strong. I can't have overly salty foods, hence why I order my fries without salt. Because of my doctor, though, I've stopped putting salt on my fries for a long time and I prefer them that way now. Even though my doctor has said that I can start eating as I used to at least sometimes, but I'm just used to it now. Anyway, I love your videos. I started watching your TikTok maybe 2 years ago now and just found your TH-cam channel and I'm enjoying the longer videos rather than the short ones on your TikTok. I'd love to see a head to head, though, with other food chains? Like your 3-5 favorite chicken sandwich spots and you just review all of their chicken sandwiches at the same time. I think that'd be a dope video series idea. I'm watching this on Labor Day weekend, so I hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend. Stay safe out there.

Shake Shack priced themselves out of my regular rotation. I like their stuff but its one of the more expensive higher end fast food options and nothing they have is elite enough to justify that in my opinion.
It def depends which shake shack you go to as I’ve only been to one in Mill Valley CA and was worst fast food experience in years. Flippant service and the burger was limp w wilted lettuce and tasteless. This all looked soooo much better.

Been to Shake Shack once and don't need to ever go back. Fries tasted like they were cooked in fish oil. Burger was the size of a slider and drink cup was the size of a water cup...for $24!

Just came here to say: I agree. I've been saying this for so long. Shake Shack doesn't get enough of hate for those prices and lack of customizability. Five Guys' shakes are even way better. I only get a shake here if it's like a BOGO or something.
I will add that the Shake Shack patty is better than Five Guys though. Some seasoning and crisp goes a long way.

Shake Shack is........ just ok to me. I'm being really honest. There is no flavor in the meat patties. The meat patties almost tastes so sanitized and flavorless as to be an afterthought. I remember the beef from Winn Dixie when I was a kid. Now that was beef!! A hamburger was so satisfying and beefy tasting you knew you were eating beef as opposed to a simulated beef patty. Juicy, beefy, tasty, robust -- real. Yesterday is gone forever.

Shake Shack is definitely overpriced. I like the mushroom burger. I used to get that with fries and lemonade. The portions are quite small at Shake Shack. I can't eat Five Guys bc they fry their food in peanut oil and I'm allergic.
