Even though that ring was tainted, it was still filled with innocent living creatures. There is a small possibility that the Corrupted Garden Ring survived and has now infected the nearby the planet. And even if Rockwell did survive, it is mostly likely that he has finally seen the error of his ways and no longer seeks to conquer the universe.
Wishfull thinking , that about Rockwell seeing his errors. He clearly has a god complex, and if he survived then he sure as hell will make sure to become more powerful again

Well at the end of extinction you see aberration crashed on earth unlike other arks which managed to land successfully. But it's still unknown how he got from earth, to the genesis ship.
But I think thousands of years have actually passed between the events of the arks, the and genesis ship.
Fyi the genesis ship was actually built before the arks.
Well, we see that the aberrant ark crashes down on a dark side of the planet. And we also know what the earths rotation has been slowed down significantly to the point of one year being one rotation. That’s why that at extinction/sanctuary city it’s always bright. But we also know that Arat prime is located at the far side of the planet from sanctuary city, which means that it would experience the opposite, constant night. And going by hidden messages in extinction, I am assuming that Arat prime was built by the Federation, and used to launch the colony ship(and beam people onboard the ship, after it had already been launched, like the transfer system the ARKs use). And going by that all of this is true, I think that Rockwell in his desperate state made his way to Arat prime to take over the colony ship. That’s at least my idea.
I also think that we get send to the colony ship/genesis simulation by Helena, right after we beat the King titan. As she says in genesis part 1 announcement trailer, our path lead beyond her reach(meaning the colony ship is too far away from her), and others need her(referring that she need to stay on earth and make sure the arrival of the ARKs is going after plan), and that “The Arrival” is soon(meaning that she know that the colony ship is close to finding a habitable planet cause she is a Homo Deus and have dat big brain). Therefor she sends us there with a fraction of herself to guide and help the other survivors prepare for The Arrival. However, plans chance when we find out that Rockwell hijacked the ship(which I am assuming that Helena didn’t know about, or maybe she did), and therefor, we have to stop him. But if things are going well back on earth, why is it then soooo important that we stop Rockwell from arriving at his “soon to be” domain? Like the future of humanity rests in our hands? Well, I think the issue about Rockwell taking the ship is the threat of him raising an element infused army, and going back to earth and cause devastation. That’s why it is so important that we stop him before it’s too late.
Aight, I know I got a little off track, and everything I said probably isn’t true, but it’s what I have in mind. Hope I somewhat answered your question. And pls correct me if I am wrong. Great video Neddy btw, I got closure on a few questions I have had in my mind for a while👍
@@rasmusbahnson9467 I mostly agree with you. I did not tought about Arat Prime tho. But I wonder why the Survivor was on the Colonyship in his pod, doing the Genesis Simulation. I mean... First of he started in an ARK. Moreever was his real body on the Colonyship. So I think the ship and the ARK's are somehow connected. If the ARK's fail their task then the ship stil has a chance and vice versa. I also think that the clones in the ARK's are controlled by the real bodys in the Colonyship. If the ARK's would teraform earth, the only had to take care of them selve and the Generation after them. After that they would go into the Genesis Simulation, or if an earthlike planet was found, they would colonize it.
But that is only my point of view. If I am wrong or missed something, feel free to correct me.
@@dystron7401 Yea, you’re right. As mentioned in the video, the Terran Federation choose to go with the idea of finding another earth like planet, thus building and launching the Colony ship with the simulation with it, as they thought the element ravaged earth would never recover. And at he other side of things, the URE hoped to fix earth again with the ARKs. It was like a double plan, to make life continue. If the ARK never got activated upon receiving their signal and initiating the reseed protocol, then the Colony ship could have hope, and vise versa.
However, when it comes to the survivor and his/hers body, it’s a bit complicated. You see, I don’t think we have an “original body”. This is because of that when we die, we get respawned with a new body(thanks to Helena), and that the ARK/Arat Prime transfer system only transfer people’s minds/consciousness to a new place, not their body(not to be confused with the ascending you get when you defeat an ARK’s overseer). So I don’t think the survivor’s real body has been on the genesis ship when he/she was on the ARK’s/earth (The Island - Scorched earth - Aberation - Extinction). What I think happened was that some time after our survivor beat the alpha king titan, Helena transferred our mind to the ship/simulation at Arat Prime. Then I think 1 out of 2 things can had happened. Either, we got a new clone/body fabricated for us on colony ship, that we could take over. Or, we just took over an “unused clone/body”. I hope that makes sense :D

i'd love to see your take on how the survivor ended up on genesis, and weather or not there a now two survivors as i've gotten alittle theory over the last few days from looking at the explorer notes.
so we know that by the time of hlnas interaction with the ship and subsequently rockwell showing up, its been 3000 days since she was created.
and that they both appear to have gotten onto the ship through the uplink at arat prime.
So the survivors body would have never left earth, so i'm thinking as is the case with sandiago, there are multiple survivors, there wasnt originally but post extinction and into genesis i'd say thats where it becomes multiple, thoughts?

I finally found out what Santiago meant at the end when he said "respawned again"! In his explorer note 16 on Gen2 he says "So I confronted Uma, and she confirmed that I'm a clone of the original Santiago." Meaning he was revived once before!
And he is also creator of some tek creatures on the ship.

The ring crashes down, we see it in the background of Ark 2. But I’d like to assume that it was a stable crash because it had boosters and there is really no safe way to land such a thing in a foreign planet and have everything survive.

This is now the video I'm going to use to explain ARK to people I know.
So here is the thing that you are missing out on. Rockwell had fallen into the guardian chamber of aberration, most overseers exist on the observation deck. When Diana and Santiago destroyed the observation deck with their tech bomb invention, The biodome barrier in the sky was destroyed, leaking the atmosphere into space and causing radiation to come on the surface because of Solar rays. Also, the radiation from space would have an effect because the lack of atmosphere. When the sun goes down at night, the surface becomes livable. When Diana and May-Yin travelled to the other side of the World from sanctuary city, arriving at Arat Prime, they created a hyper luminal link and teleported Helena into the genesis engine. Once in the backbones of the Genesis simulation, she created HLNA but she left because of Rockwell. The system route in genesis part one, is where she was. Rockwell use the same link to gain access and control over the Genesis simulation and the colony ship. At the end of aberration, you are teleported back in time before the sun scorched the surface of aberration. Overtime, Rockwell got better at mastering the power of the system, In the simulation, he began to change survivors and the weather, increasing the strength of the creatures in the simulation. His plan is to use the colony ship to create an army of corrupted survivors to conquer the planet earth because all the survivors that oppose him are located on earth. He has mastered the power of element to it it’s extreme. Using the power of element, he entirely corrupted one side of the colony ship and created creatures such as the shadowmane and the noglin. At the end of genesis part two, when the biodome barriers are failing, the Eden ring is evacuated to the planet below. In extinction, you can see the either the Eden ring or the colony ship orbiting above the planet if you turn your graphics settings down. Once you see it, a little bit after it, the meteor shower begins.
So the respawing only started AFTER Helena ascends to Homodeus right? did that happen long before our survivor woke up? This bit is the only part that confuses me.
I'm writing a story set in the ark universe but thinking of striking the respawning out, so death has a bit more narrative wight.
Helena was not the first to bring people back, as other Transhumans / Homo Deus had done it before, for example when they brought Santiago back to life ... multiple times. Anyway, Helena DID create the automatic respawn system, which up until then had not existed. It took her a VERY long time to create the system within the ARKs, and it cost many lives of survivors in countless experiments.

Amazing video Neddy! Although I would like to point out that the ship didn't crash into that planet. The Colony ships sun went... Critical/supernova/ aka The Reactor blew, whatever way you want to word it.
That Gas giant looking planet appears quite a great distance away from the habitable one.
Now I finally see why HLNA stayed behind, to make sure that the unaffected ring was separated to colonize that new planet, and to make sure that no piece of Rockwell could’ve landed there either.

Theoretically speaking the colonial ship should of had a higher chance of succeeding, its only problem it didnt take count into its equation was rockwell doing what he did....however he managed to do it, but I guess we will find out in the expansion

What confused me with the new genesis lore is how did Rockwell get onto the ship? Like the reseed protocol started and brought all the arks back to earth which you'd assume would also mean abberation since the ending cutscene. So maybe he did get brought to earth....maybe he didn't but either way how did he get off that ark and into the colony ship that could have been traveling for a long time before Rockwell even mutated with the liquid element....this is the part that I got lost on trying to follow the new genesis story

What about Rockwell's appearance in the ending of Extinction? And how did he go from landing on Earth with the Aberration ARK to affecting both a simulation and an entire Colony Ship in Genesis?
Arat prime is like a tek transmitter linked to the ship. The ship was built first and sent out while its builders helped another group with the ark project. The arks took longer to build as there were so many to place in orbit. Even though the group that build the ship thought that their project was the more likely to succeed, they were allied with the group who thought that building arks was the most likely to succeed. And since they both had the same goals, saving earth life and humanity, they were working together on both projects. Once the last ark was sent into orbit, those who worked on the ship returned to Arat prime and uploaded themselves onto the ship the same way that the survivor moves between arks.
Rockwell was respawned whenever he died on Aberration as he had taken the place of the overseer of that ark. So when his ark was called back to earth and crashed, he was respawned in the overseer room. He made his way to Arat prime, having knowledge of earth's technology from his time as an overseer, and uploaded himself to the ship. When he arrived, the ship would have cloned him a new body and uploaded his mind into it, complete with every ability he gained from both element corruption and his integration into his ark as an overseer. The majority of people on the ship would be in pods, living in the genesis (or other) simulations or simply stored as digital DNA to be cloned upon arrival to the habitable planet, like Santiago was in the ending cinematic. The few that were awake on the ship, the crew, were not expecting and not prepared to deal with the unexpected appearance of a tentacled monstrosity that understood the workings of the ship. He then rampaged his way to the control room, killing the crew and began integrating himself into the bridge of the ship.
Helena, not knowing that Rockwell was alive, created HLN-A and transmitted HLN-A and the survivor who saved earth (you) to the colony ship, presumably to report that the ark project had succeeded as well as assist the colonization of whatever habitable planet the ship found. When we arrived, Rockwell has successfully integrated into the ship and has split his attention between the real world and the simulation. He was using the genesis simulation to corrupt people who were in their pods as well as explore human history/fight loneliness, per statements that HLN-A made fixing some glitches in genesis part 1. He is also refining his control of the corruption's mutation abilities by controlling the evolution of life on one of the rings, Rockwell's garden, while also cloning into existence some of his favorite creations from aberration, which is why we have aberration creatures there. Meanwhile, the ship is jumping from one star system to another every 24 hours, looking for a habitable world. Normally, this would give the crew 24 hours to survey the solar system for habitable worlds and gather resources from asteroids before the ship jumps to a neighboring system at midnight. With Rockwell in control, he is looking for habitable worlds and fighting our efforts to challenge his control of different ship systems via the missions. This explains the lunar biome's resources and why they change every night at midnight.

Yeah I'm still a bit confused about Santiago, if his OG body died on Earth presumably 100's of thousands of years ago or more, how did he get a new body on the ship after Helena failed to revive him? Also the whole "re spawned again" comment suggests he's done it at least once before somehow even though he was part of the OG 1 life crowd that should of been forever lost to time.

@@crimson5142 My theory was Rockwell survived because he was an overseer and can therefore die and infinite amount of times. And then he stopped being an overseer when he left the crashed aberration and he went to arat prime and teleported his conscious to the genesis ship, because most theories say that the genesis ship left earth the same time as the arks were launched

Aberration crashed onto Earth with the rest of the Arks, after all, and based on Extinction's ending, Rockwell seemed to have survived that crash.
we were told the fate of Mei-yin and Diana in relation to gen2 was a spoiler, yet I’ve heard nothing about them. explanation if possible?
I think that was a tease, really. We hear nothing from Mei-Yin and Diana in any of Genesis 2's lore, unfortunately. We may learn more in the Animated Series though -- albeit it is not "cannon" to the video-game story.

HLNA or at the very least the survivor must have survived, made it to the planet because of the HLNA cave painting, we see and a few other familiar things seen on these cave paintings
I didn't think about that! Either our survivor survived, or Nida -- who was pretty much the only other person who knew of HLN-A!
@@NeddyTheNoodle there's also the line "I'm ALMOST out of time to back myself up" so she likely was able to back herself up somewhere like on the falling ring or even the mech suit OR even back on earth possibly but we do know she at the very least is alive but just doesn't have a body currently

One moment where I laughed really hard though: Suggesting that they couldn't take cows and pigs because they might have gone extinct before the ships left... but they had t-rexes and brontos. I sort of thought(since I didn't know all the lore) that it was all a simulation, from the island onward. I guess it makes somewhat more sense, though also leaves me wondering why Dinos are back of all things compared to something like a cow or house cats and such.
Ok, but what's the point of sending ship after we save Earth in Extinction? It had to be sent after, because Rockwell was on Aberration untill Aberration itself crash landed on Earth.
Nope, the ship was sent around the same time the ARKs were sent up. Rockwell likely uploaded his consciousness at Arat Prime, which somehow made it to the ship which was VERY far away at that point. That's what I assume happened!
One thing I'd really like clarified is whether or not our survivor we play in Genesis is the same one we've (for the sake of narrative) played from island through extinction? My understanding of the story was that the re-seed protocol with the arks would've been successful, but the landing arks also included the Ab ark (and naturally Rockwell). Rockwell being literally corrupted with element could've easily botched the healing process for Earth. I figured the colony ship was a case of "well if the ark program ultimately fails humanity and the life on our planet still has one last chance by just abandoning the planet entirely and trying to find a new world for humanity'. In that scenario I assumed after the extinction ending cinematic our survivor would've gone in search of Arat Prime and that's how they ended up on the ship. Unfortunately, so did Rockell, hence the events of genesis 1 and 2. I mean, if we're playing two separate people fine I guess, but after 5-6 years of developing my character I'm attached to her and I'd like to think the reward for all the trouble she went through would be to get to start over on a new planet with the rest of humanity's remnants.
The survivor we play in ark and the one we play in genesis are the same ?

Lore wise I would say yes, as the survivor most likely makes it down to the planet in ARK ll, due to the cave paintings of HLN-A, as the gen 1-2 survivor is the only one to know about HLN-A(possibly aside from Nida). But there are also painted obelisks which are exclusive to the ARKs, which mean that the survivor had also been on the ARKs besides knowing HLN-A(and being the same survivor that we play as on the ARKs). That’s my theory
So did the Rockwell garden ring also explode completely?

We got 2 possible scenarios for earth and why rockwell is in the ship
1 could be that rockwell manage to conquer earth in some way making the genesis ship be the last hope for humanity to survive another extinction event
Or 2 he just sneak up into the ship without nobody in the entire earth's federation notice it
I have so many questions though? Like does earth have humans living once again after the reseed protocol while the copy of humanity is on the ship basicallbasically meaning that theres 2 different planets now with us. Does that mean earth has humanitu growing once again while the colony ship is basically earths copy going to conquer another planet? Is earth going alright since genesis 2 takes pllace or did rockwell take over after the ab crash and then took the link to the colony ship to take over to?
So if the Arks orbiting earth were made as giant injection pods to purge element, then would Aberration land or would it just keep floating around. It is derelict after all and one of the pillars is broken.
You know, the ending of Ark actually give a possible disturbing context to the ark II trailer. The humanoid creatures are likely the new planets native inhabitants. So the conflict is not unlike the conflict between early America and the Native American population.
So there is ARK2 incoming? Now thats a ge to watch out for.

I'm hoping that the re seeding of the ARKs was successful. I would much prefer to believe that until proven otherwise.
We just have to wait until Ark 2 to see how good was the genesis project, but for now, let's enjoy arks lore and history right here and now

Hi quici question I always found it confusing that after extinction the plan of the arks succeeded so they landed on earth to let it heal but why was humanity then like ight imma head out on this giant colony ship when they just saved earth?
But i always wondered how did the survivor that beat the arks and cured the earth got onto the colony ship after extinction and then beat the simulation and rockwell and then he disappeared, like what happens to your survivor after gen 2, where does he go? Does he die, or continue his life on the ring and live a happy life like in storyes, and then you start as santiago? Thats just so confusing and it would be great if you were able to actually figure it out.
