We haven’t played Gen yet. It all seemed tedious. This is the first video to make me excited to play. We should be starting in a couple of weeks.
A tip for early on dealing with insect swarms in the bog biome: they won't follow you across any body of water. You can kite them out to a small spit of shore opposite from somewhere you want to hang out, and kind of leave them trapped there by crossing the water. They'll try to go in a straight line to you, but won't cross the water.
This was a ton of fun. Great cinematography, trustworthy info and the ark look I love to bits. can’t wait for what comes next!

Such a good video, I had no idea about Hoverskiff. It is definitely a cool addition. I loved seeing parts of the Master Controller fight as well as the cinematic at the end. That plus the music made it so enjoyable. Keep it up!

Ive always said that the easy to hard rating each biome has, isnt for the biome itself but for the difficulty of the trials in that biome. Thinking about it that way, it makes sense that the bog is rated easy

I love ark and have been revisiting gen 1 recently and somehow never knew about those binoculars. I saw the model a long time ago when people could see the dev kit. I figured it was used for the scout.

A GREAT video of Gen 1, appreciated! I've been out of the ARK loop for ages, last played on Aberration, I've not played Extinction, but a friend pointed me to Gen 1 & 2, and we're looking to start a new server.
Is the story from ARK: SE worth following through from the begining through the various releases?? Is there a run down somewhere on the story?

Genesis was the best thing to happen to Ark, Extinction was amazing too, one of my biggest returning problems with Ark is the lack of things to do late game, Extinction brought unique creatures, multiple badass bosses, and defense events, so fucking great and Genesis 1 and 2 just takes that even further beyond
I would like to mention that i think on console the hitboxes are kinda weird with the insect swarms because i can never hit them with torches

Use x megalodons for mueder, they do percentage based damage so it takes her health down by a ton

Anyone else remember when they revamped The Island volcano area to add the tek cave AND having plans to add eruptions to it? well now i know where that went.
When I first played ark (mobile but dont at me) I wanted to make my own creatures and story but I don’t think that’s an available achievement now since genesis 2 is coming.....or has come out
Interestingly gen 2, no-longer-sim, also lets you breathe the void that is space, cause reasons (?)
3 thins I do not like about Genesis; 1. The Fishing Net is really broken. 2. The Alpha gauntlet missions are basically impossible without using admin commands. 3. It take FOREVER to complete all the missions needed for Alpha Corrupt Controller.

Genesis is pretty much ark 1.5. It’s more of an interlude that explains the time gap between arc one and two.
How... how is this game not talked about more, I only play mobile and just got into it, but the full experience looks nuts! Did the company fuck up or something? There's no way no one talks about this game, it's unlike ANYTHING I've personally ever seen or played!
It's buggy and laggy on console, and the grind is a bit much sometimes, but it's pretty fun.

Gotta disagree about the missions being fantastic. I think they're mostly tedious, imbalanced, and really ruin the immersion of the game. But another damn fine video.
edit: Gotta disagree with the claims that megachelons are pretty useless and have very little climbing ability. They climb ridiculously well. Like "this can't be right" well. They can also have ridiculously high carry weight. They don't beat gasbags, but the weight rating and high health makes them great for mobile bases. Far better than a racer. And they can utilize the ocean to travel across the map with relative ease. I've also used them to dive and gather oil by using their air bubbles for air.
Overhyped? Maybe. Useless? Definitely not. Especially when considering the constant production of rare mushrooms and rare flowers.

Notice how I said "Officially" added Vehicle. The Buggy isn't all that official given that it isn't something you can unlock in Multiplayer. It's more or less a devtool that was never finished or used.

I didn't really like Genesis 1 or 2. The mission system took away from the survival aspect for me. Not hating on anybody who likes the missions, this is just my take on it. I think ARK peaked at Aberration. Extinction was okay but Aberration had the best survival aspects and boss fight, at least in my opinion. Though I'll admit that the Gen 1 and 2 boss fights were pretty cool.

Great video but megachelons are incredibly useful in PVP and they actually will climb up practically anything.

Genesis has to be the most confusing map for me. The fishing missions are irritating too
