    How do you feel about the old era vs the new era?

      I wasn't particularly interested in the MCU until Captain America. Aside from the first 2 Ant-Mans, the Tom Holland Spider-Mans, and the Cap movies, I really only like the Avengers movies and Thor Ragnarök.

      Iron Man was the only movie I really liked until Infinity War x Endgame lol. They finally got Wanda right, Captain Marvel wasn't giving with me til the Marvels... so I'm a lot happier now vs then. I get why people don't like what we've gotten, but I have. I just wanna see the Eternals and Amadeus Cho's Hulk lol

      I mean, one wouldn't exist without the other right? Hi Red. Great video and thanks for all of the work you do for us. So, I'm old. Not in feeling but in years. In retrospect the years between Iron Man and Agatha All Along seem like a blip. I'm luckily able to look at the MCU as one fairly coherent story because 17 years feels like yesterday. For me the movie holds up just fine. Obviously it helps that it's a truly good film. Thanks again buddy. Big love and have a great day.

    It's incredible how strong Iron Man still holds up. I will never not shed a tear when Yinsen says to Tony "Don't waste your life".

      Yes but Paramount did the distribution and this was before Disney owned Marvel.

    As a massive iron man fan. You're absolutely correct. Before this movie, if you weren't a comic fan you had no idea who iron man was. Love thus video friend! This one still holds up to me. Sadly iron man 2 and 3 and more of a miss to me

    You are 100% correct on iron man not being all that huge until the movies. Same applies to guardians of the galaxy.

    I like that Ang Lee/Eric Bana Hulk movie. It's got stuff in it right our of the comics. Some stuff is kinda different, but it's still a great Hulk movie.

      I have some thoughts on that film. Would be interesting to do a Hulk in film retrospective and just compare the various live action depictions of him starting from back in the Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno days.

      Personally I don't like professor Hulk. Dumb beast Hulk is the best variant to me, cuz there doesn't need to be a woman to calm him down but when there is it just works. Love his friendship with Natasha-- would be interesting to see how they handle it in Doomsday

      @Hum0ng0us that Titan run with spaceship Hulk a few years ago was so fun. I feel like the MCU is being too safe with him so far. My expectations are high for Doomsday and they shouldn't be

    To me, rewatching it now feels like a breath of fresh air in terms of Marvel movies, where Iron Man was really character-based and not overly reliant on big CG spectacle or tying into other MCU stuff.(Fury showing up at the end was actually amazing!) Other than the pole dancers and his flippy phone, it holds up a lot.

  • @WhiteRaven696

    You definitely should do The Incredible Hulk next. Even though it was completely detached from the rest of the MCU for years, we got Ross back in Civil War, Abomination back in Shang-Chi, and now we're getting Leader and Betty Ross back in Brave New World, so that movie's becoming more relevant by the day.

    I actually found after watching WandaVision and getting a better grasp on Wanda that Age of Ultron felt a lot more impactful. Especially at the death of her brother.

    Pre-MCU, Superman and Spider-Man were the premiere superheroes because nearly every readeer could relate to Clark Kent and Peterr Parker. It was pretty difficult to relate to multi-millionaires like Tony Stark and Bruce Wayne (but it was still a fantasy). When the MCU was first announced, I told myself RDJ was going to be a horrible Iron Man because he would be shoeing up late or missing scenes, maybe even falling off the wagon and so on...and as soon as I said that to myself, I realized he was going to make a GREAT Tony Stark. RDJ made Iron Man relatable.

    So I've been an ironman fan since I was 7 years when my mom bought me a VHS cassette tape of spiderman and his friends featuring the origin stories of the trio of heroes THAT had ironman in it that was ironically voiced by a 70s black icon that played Blackula. We fast forward to Ironman 94 the animated series voiced by my guy Robert Hayes from Airplane and the rest is history, he's been one of my favorites ever since. When i heard RDJ was playing the character it was a perfect fit. I was so focused on a justice league film i didn't even pay attention to what Marvel and Disney was planning. So we have this foundational movie which was good and having seen it my junior year of college in my 20s with some of my best friends made it so special. BUT i wasn't the biggest fan of the film not because it wasn't good. It had a great cast i just wasn't a fan of Jeff bridges or Gweneth Paltro in the movie. RDJ clearly was the best part of the movie but 17 years later the film still holds up. If the MCU goes back to focusing on character dynamics with honoring the adapted material while remembering the fans and artists that made this era the most profitable of all time....there will be more great times to come. Fans are still going to watch the movies and the studios will make their money...but the drop off is noticable for good reason. Colin Ferrell just won a Golden Globe for playing a DC CHARACTER.... regardless of the budget at the end of the day...fans will always stay around for substance NOT flash in the long run. Can't wait to watch more reviews on the MCU Amanda ❤❤❤

    Im hoping the Ironheart show is just as good as this was. Riri and Tony are a cpuple of the most inspiring characters to me in general, not just Marvel. If you don't got it, make it. The world would love to see it. It's a lot like the motto of this channel too

    My only complaint about the Iron Man movies is that RDJ was jacked for them, especially Iron Man 3, and yet we never got a single shirtless shot to show off the bod. Which I would be ok with assuming it was a personal boundary of his, except he then shows up in that one Sherlock Holmes movie fully nude with a pillow covering his family jewels.

    In 2008 Iron Man was totally second string, and so were the Avengers. Marvel went bankrupt in the 1990s and licensed off the movie and tv rights to all its more popular properties like Spider-Man and the X-Men (hence the movies and cartoons that had nothing to do with Disney), and after Disney bought its corpse (same as the Muppets and Star Wars) they spent years trying to collect the lost parts so they could tell stories from the half century comic archive that tended to involve crossovers between characters they didn't have the rights to.

    • @raqsasim
      @raqsasim 8 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      In fairness, although I generally agree Iron Man was at best B-tier, he had been lead on one 90s cartoon, as well as one of the characters to get featured in Marvel's first run in animation. So, of that tier of characters in Marvel's roster, he at least had some exposure in the mainstream.

    • @myphone4590
      @myphone4590 8 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @raqsasim The Bill Bixby Hulk TV series had Thor and Daredevil guest star, but not Iron Man. They tried a Hulk movie before Iron Man. It wasn't the character, it was Jon Favreau fishing Robert Downey Jr. out of hollywood's toilet and giving him what he needed to shine. In a period in his life where a film starring Downey couldn't get an insurance bond.

    When I started with Iron Man he was voiced by John Vernon (and they were teaching us the Centennial song, in English and French, of course, eh). But were you watching it, or re-watching it?
    As always, thank you so very much for the videos.
    (Of course before RDJ played a man in an iron suit, I was also watching movies with Mick Jagger, and Heath Ledger doing it.) ("Ned Kelley" (1970), and "Ned Kelley" (2003))

    Iron Man remains one of my fave comic book films. The opener reminds me of Three Kings, another film with a dark comedy vibe you might enjoy if you like the original Iron Man. For me, while it established the MCU blueprint I also think it has its own flavour that was never bettered- a darker, more satirical vibe. Not to have a go at other MCU titles there's lots of others I love. But even my older brother (who for the most part is not a big comic book movie fan) likes the original Iron Man. Also I was pro- the Downey Jr casting when everyone was confused by it!

    It’s certainly refreshing after movies like the fantastic fours. Really though unless you’re not bothered about chronological order you should of started with also great Captain America 😅 Since he fights in world war ll after taking his serum that made him superhuman as well as put him in peak human condition for a lot longer than regular humans

    Hi. Iron-man a great movie. in the comics . Rhodes was, saved by iron man. (Iron-man #118, 1978.). I liked The fantastic Four movie. One of the films I would watch again. Ok, didn't like how they portray Dr Doom powers. Other films I don't mind watching are the 2000 ad X-men films. Again, I agree with you the 3rd one wasn't the best. didn't show the full power of the Dark Phoenix.
    Now and again. I 'like to watch the whole 3 together. Elektra.. Its Not the best film . But to me. Not a bad film. A lot wrong with it. More I watch it. The more I see. Some good parts I enjoyed. Catwoman. It started off quite good. The end not the best. Why watch it again.. Halle Berry. Naff said lol😂. . The worst. Which I don't bother to watch it, only if I do a hero week of dvds. Is the 2003 Hulk. Yes. Iron-man 1. Great film. I think am turning into a Geek again. Dr Banner. Give me that Formula. Hurry. 💉. 👽👍

      I feel like Feige has forgotten how..."Independent" the Pre-Age of Ultron Movies really were...they were Held Together with Gum & Scotch Tape, with Post Credit Scenes and 1 Additional Character being what tied them together...
      It has gotten pretty ridiculous where we have gotten...with each Project trying to act like a "Bridge" to the Next...which can Work when you only have 1 Movie every 12-18 months....not Multiple Films a year ON TOP of TV Series....
      Not even the Comics are THAT interwoven. Series ignore each other all the time for their own stories and really only come together during "Events" or "Crossovers"...but now, everything is treated as an Event or Crossover on the Screen.
